ELO has got to be one of the most talented yet under appreciated bands of ALL time. Jeff Lynne is a pop music master without equal.
Jeff Lynn is a musical genius, who has always followed his own path.
Mr. Blue Sky is arguably one of the happiest songs ever written IMHO.
Yes, it is arguably one of the happiest songs ever written. Agreed. Even so, it isn't so happy a song that it could prevent me from taking my own life if it came down to that. Let's just hope that it never comes down to that.

You need to see Turn to Stone live at Wembley - a completely amazing performance! Actually the entire ELO: Wembley or Bust concert film is incredible and a must see for any ELO fan.

...also, I haven't seen any Travelling Wilbury's on this channnel? Jeff Lynne was/is the most underrated component of that "super-group" imo.
What I find rather interesting with what ELO did to this song was they made a song that was basically about feeling blue waiting for his girl to return, and yet making the song itself feel happy. You cannot help but want to get up and dance to that song. The juxtaposition is incredible between those two opposites.
Such a treat to watch Kel's reaction to all these tunes that we all grew up on. In the most respectful way possible, it's like watching a toddler being given a present. Cheers me up to see such genuine human happiness.
Kel's laughter made my eye water. In good way, though! Very touching indeed to see someone have such a joyful reaction to a tune they've never heard before. Priceless.

Out of the Blue is the seventh studio album by the British rock group Electric Light Orchestra (ELO), released in October 1977. Written and produced by ELO frontman Jeff Lynne, the double album is among the most commercially successful records in the group's history, selling about 10 million copies worldwide by 2007
Because Jeff Lynne is SUCH a perfectionist, he was the only person really who could help with the Beatles Anthology. Then he was able to take the crackling cassette of John Lennon on Free as a Bird, & clean it up so that the others could "sing" w/John again. As a HUGE fan of George, soooo happy he did it before George died.
It's great to watch you guys, and yes, Jeff Lynne is top notch. I didn't like them when I was young, I was listening to harder rock back then.

This always takes me to a time when me and my wife had no money and we where hungry, and a friends mum brought us around lots of open sandwiches from an event where she was a waitress, it was ELOs relaunch with the out of the blue album and a copy of the album. Happy days.👍

I discovered ELO in the spring of '78 at almost 10 years old. "Turn To Stone", has been has been my favorite tune ever since. In fact when purchasing stereo components, over the years, "Turn To Stone" has been my reference song to audition the component, prior to purchase.

10538 Overture was off ELO 1st album. The song that launched Electric Light Orchestra, the whole symphonic rock sound. By the way Kel, I felt the same way the first time I heard 'Turn to Stone' many years ago.

Love the reaction, ELO packs so much joy into their music, hearing them the first time is such a fun discovery, no one has melded orchestra and rock music better.
I just came across you guys yesterday, subscribed to your channel, and I gave this video like #1k, so I thought I'd comment. Love Kel's joyous reaction to my favorite ELO song, and willingness to let her inner child show! I love that you're both not afraid to show what emotions music evokes in you, as music has always been so emotional for me as well. I cried with both of you to A7X's "so far away", as I think most people that have lived long enough, have experience that sort of loss at some point, and that song/video is so good at tapping into that sorrow. I even re-appreciated Queensryche's "silent lucidity" after seeing Kel's reaction - always loved them btw. Anyway, this is old so you may not see this comment, but I think it's great and enjoy what your doing. Which is allowing everyone to see your love and appreciation for all this incredible music, as well as your love for each other which also so obvious, and is beautiful to see. The world needs more examples of love! You seem to be covering all the "best" and my only suggestion if you do see this would be to check out some Within Temptation sometime. Possibly "all I need" black symphony edition. I don't think you'll be disappointed...

Have always loved Jeff Lynne's ELO music. Their concert this year was amazing still after all these decades - tremendous show / absolutely perfect sound live.
I saw them land their space ship in Memorial Auditorium in Buffalo, NY, back in the seventies. Massive laser show!
They were the first international rockband i ever saw live during their "Time" tour.😁😁
My wife and I saw them play in Columbus on July 30th.it was Awesome!!! You need to hear all of their songs period!

I used to have all my CD s with me in the truck, how many times I had on long trips this on??????, A LOT !!!, lucky for no speed tickets I have cruisecontrole but ofcourse I can sing each note with the songs of ELO,.. since 1976.

YES !! ELO is feel-good music !! The reason this band was so eclectic is because of their string section...no one had really incorporated this combination before and is wildly popular. Good to see Kel laughing...I was like "Yep..she's digging it".
ELO is one of my favorite bands, I have all the albums and the spin-offs (ELO II, The Orchestra and the soundalike L.E.O.). "Eldorado" is a concept album and my personal favorite but they made lots of great albums, "Face the Music," "A New World Record," "Out of the Blue" and "Time." I love the sound of the cello, ELO put it to good use.

Kel....quick story....my Uncle was a trombonist back in the 50s through the 90s. His resume includes Stan Kenton and peers. He arranged and conducted for Sammy Davis Jr...my Aunt is a classically trained pianist who taught in her home. One Christmas (15 years ago?) I mentioned Elvis Presley. She drew a blank. Never heard of the King of Rock n Roll. So it isnt just you. My Aunt and Uncle were cool people who knew how to groove 60s style. But still...I am enjoying you discovering all these great songs.

What an amazing experience to have. Nit just for her, to hear for the first time such an enigmatic artist bit for him to see the world fresh and new through the eyes of an adult able to hear for the first time.

I was on a 5 city road trip and it certainly had it ups and downs. Next time I'm back in your area I'll try to stay healthy and take you guys out for dinner and a show! ELO was also inducted into the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame in 2018. Also, Dhani Harrison opened for ELO this tour and Dhani (George's son) comes on stage to play "Handle with Care" (Traveling Wilbuys who George and Jeff Lynne were a part of). Dhani sounds just like his dad. Does Kel know about the Beatles? Rock on!
If you get a chance, introduce Kel to her 2nd ELP song - "Take A Pebble." She will love the absolute musicianship of the boys, with a little improv and humor. I suggest the "" Take a Pebble" - Greg Lake and ELP - Live in Zurich 1970" video. Lord, what a great presentation.

Out of the Blue has to be one of the best double albums ever. So consistently brilliant. To think Jeff Lynne wrote all 17 songs in just three and a half weeks is insane. Turn to Stone, Mr Blue Sky, It's over, Sweet Talking Woman. Summer and Lightning .... The list goes on. Love it to bits.
This is a very fascinating story about Kel's musical history. Also, the broad scope of music on this channel is simply amazing. Keep up the good work, as this to me is my number one go to channel for song reactions!
A great reaction both. ELO were/are amazing much underated and and now classed a guilty pleasure by many but they were always about making music fun. But I am proud they one of the great bands from my local of area of The Midlands in the UK, such as Black Sabbeth, The Move, Wizzard, Slade, The Moody Blues, Led Zepplin, Traffic, Spencer Davis Group, Judas Priest and Napalm Death.
For many years in my opinion ELO was not recognized for the brilliance of their songs/albums but those songs certainly live on today and is a testament to Jeff Lynne's musical genius. Out of the Blue remains my favorite album of all time.
Big time Boston fan, just last week got to see ELO in Detroit and they were awesome.
