WELL... All I can say is thank you for this... I am 50 and lost both my parents in 2002 when they were 53... They influenced me so much with music and no one can take that away. ELO is just a "blip" on the radar of all the great music I was blessed with. I love you guys!

Kel’s reaction is one of the most beautiful things to witness.
This is the first ELO song I ever heard. As an 11 year old Beatles nut in the late 70’s this song blew me away with the huge orchestral background and great harmonies. I love most ELO songs but this is still my favourite.

Gordon Bain she kind of explained it in an earlier video. My take on it as a musician is that as a musician herself, she’ll hear something that speaks to her in a joyful way and she reacts. She is classically trained and you can see when orchestral parts “speak” to her, she reacts. It’s like a language and she reacts to “getting it”. When you hear a song speaking a certain thing to you or leading a certain direction, it’s fun when it delivers. Just my take.
Hugh McDowell, the cellist for ELO passed away last November at the age of 65. His 66th birthday would have been two days ago.

That and "Strange Magic" are my favorite songs of theirs.
As a child, I loved the tempo and some sounds. As an adult, I've come to appreciate the lyrics and musicality. The picture of each piece is put together over time. An advantage Kel has is the youthful exuberance of discovery AND the maturity to appreciate the tapestry.
Great reaction, guys. I'm more of an ELO guy than, say, Slayer, but the joy of music, especially music the rest of us already know, is magnified by sharing of one of our lives.

Watching Kel go through the stages of discovery of the song as it happens is so precious. She not sure what to expect or where this is going because of Jeff Lynn's genius. ELO is my all time favorite "group." I use parethesis because it was Jeff Lynn who wrote everything, as well as Produced and recorded.
ELO II is the real masterpiece. In old England Town, Kuiama, Mama and of course Roll over Beethoven.

Great reaction! ELO was my first concert in the mid-70’s. I was 14, my Mom dropped my friend and I off at the concert hall to see them. There was a full orchestra onstage and an amazing light show. This young girl’s mind was blown that night but in a great way. Will always love ELO.
ELO is a extremely talented and underrated band imo. I am glad to hear that it has got you interested in getting back to you playing piano. So many great bands and solo artists have piano in their music. ELO, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Elton John, and Billy Joel to name a few. Great job keep up the good work, and thank you for all you do.

I saw ELO at the Cow Palace back in the '70s. They blew me away. Their lead-in group was Firefall.

Hi both in 1976 I had been married for four years and I went over seas to work in Saudi Arabia I was 27 had a son who was 3 missed my wife and son so much never worked away from home before and no mobile phones the had to put in request for phone call home. 3 minutes max just by chance came across your TH-cam video and boy did this bring home the meaning of this song just love Jeff Lyn I am now 70 years old and still makes my cry brings back just how much I missed my family then in the day .just love to watch your videos keep up the beautiful work Ray and Jean

This is going to sound a bit silly, but what the heck. The first video I seen of these two, was when they reviewed Roll Over Beethoven. It really kind of broke my heart at first, thinking Kel didn't like ELO, because I love this band. I was genuinely sad.. They are my all time favorite band. I seen them live in Germany when I was stationed over there. I have since seen the reviews you have done on several ELO songs and I'm very happy to find that you have become an ELO fan. They have so many songs that are for everyone to have fun. Rock and Roll is King is a great one for parties, if you have ever heard of the "shuffle dance" there are several videos done to ELO's "Don't Bring Me Down". Some are actually put together with old clippings of dances from old movies and they do it so it flows with the music. Very cleverly done. Anyway I'm so glad you have become an ELO fan!! I retire in a few years so that will give you an idea of what decade I'm from but ELO was big in Germany/Europe in the 80's when I was stationed over there and they were my very first concert! I have loved them ever since, and Jeff Lynne is an extremely nice, good natured man. He is the best!!

Saw JL’s ELO last July in Chicago. Been on the planet nearly 50 years and it was the best show I have ever seen. Took my wife and three kids. I wept during “Can’t Get It Out of My Head.”

I heard somewhere that ELO was one of the first bands to use the MOOG synthesizer, and Jeff Lynne wrote more than one of his songs with a full orchestra in mind. Amazing artist, amazing group. Rock on' you guys!

Not wanting to talk from my parents house was normal for me at the time. Finding a public phone that wasnt vandalised was another. It took a lot of work to talk to a girlfriend back then..... Lots of coins needed too but i wouldnt change a thing. Thank you Guys for this. XX
