    Last year at a thrift store I found a Steven Seagal movie from the 1990's on VHS, still shrink wrapped, with it's original KMart price tag still on it. Naturally I had to get it.

    Hey I have that "Top Secret Recipes" book. The KFC buttermilk biscuit recipe is great. Follow the directions and you really will get biscuits that are just like the ones you buy at KFC. And the same is true of the fried chicken recipe. The trick is to deep fry the chicken in Crisco oil, but you have to fry it in a pressure cooker, which is kind of scary. You can also experiment with peanut oil, it gives the fried chicken a different flavor, almost like Chick-Fil-A. But don't knock it, that book is great.

    I’m a goodwill addict! I recognized those price tags and the layouts of the store immediately! Before COVID hit, I was a manager at a Goodwill in Chandler. The pricing strategy isn’t great, but I always tried to make things fairly priced. IMO, Scottsdale and Phoenix have the best GW’s.

    At least in AZ, Goodwill has become way too overpriced. That includes both nice stuff that's ridiculously too expensive and the junk that's from the dollar tree but goodwill sells for even more than it retailed for.

    • @Crackrzz

      We have those problems at Value Village (aka Savers) here in Canada in some places.

    • @Longimanus1323

      @@Crackrzz I've noticed savers here doing that as well. Guess that's what happens when thrift stores become corporatized and try to change their model to a department store

    • @CommodoreFan64
      @CommodoreFan64 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's not just an AZ thing, they are doing it here on the east coast in SC, and GA trying to sell old Dollar tree, and Dollar General crap for 2 and 3 times it's original price. Then I head over the office supply section, and see old school Boston, Bostitch, and American made Swingline staplers for sometimes less then $1, when on eBay they go for well over that. So as someone who collects and uses staplers in an office setting on a near daily basis I snag the good ones up, then I head to the electronics, and even broken crappy old compaq rubber keyboards they want 10 - $15 for. GoodWill prices have just been all over the dang place the past few years.

    • @Damaniel3
      @Damaniel3 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's how it is at most Goodwills. You just have to hope that the cool items are priced by the people who aren't bothering to look up prices of stuff on eBay before they tag them and put them on the shelf.

    • @CommodoreFan64
      @CommodoreFan64 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Damaniel3 Yep, and when they look up a price on eBay they go for the highest price someone is asking for, not buy sold listings within the past month.

    Rubik’s Race is actually still being produced. From what I can tell, Rubik’s had shifted in the early 2000’s to making more electronic “puzzles” (such as the Rubik’s Touch, Rubik’s Revolution). These weren’t uber popular, especially with twisty puzzle enthusiasts. So within the last few years, they’ve been reproducing some of their old products, such as the Rubik’s Race, Rubik’s Triamid, etc.

    I sometimes buy digital point-and-shoots from thrift stores but mostly Canon and they have to be from the sweet spot of between about 2009 to 2012 before they crammed too many pixels onto too small a sensor.
    The advantage of Canon point-and-shoots from that era is that you can install the hacked CHDK firmware to shoot RAW.
