Thank you for doing these videos. I've never really delved into the electronic aspect of the hobby. But these help out a lot. Also your intro are bar none the best ever.
For the battery case, it might be good using some wide pvc pipe the close to the diameter as the old battery case, and maybe something like a 3.5mm headphone port and jack to connect the battery to the circuit.
So all you have to do is remove a bunch of screws to get one side off? Do you have a closeup of what the battery screw is attached to? My screw just rotates but doesn't loosen up so when my battery needs recharging I can't do anything to remove it to charge.
I'm probably not going to rewire mine when I get it, Just gonna stick in a removable feed hose so it can be backpack fed which is all I could ever need for it and I'll actually be able to feed the beast now I'm working full time.
Hey captain, ive been thinking about you wanting to put a muzzle flash on eir (and keep in mind, I've never actually poked around inside a stampede) but maybe you could fit a switch behind your trigger, and hook up the power to your LED, if that doesn't work you could have a switch that's activated when your piston goes foward upon firing, sort of like a rev trigger (I forget the name of the type of switch) OR you could fit a miniature motion sensor on either side your barrel, and every time something triggers the sensor, the barrel would flash. Also, I'd recommend edge glow plastic to cover the hole where the light would be, it can give a pretty cool look and can be softened with a heat gun. Sorry for the long post, have a nice day ^-^
I can not look at this thing without feeling terrible they announced it like ONE FREAKING WEEK after you revealed rival minigun, but yours will always be cooler, even aside from the fact that you built it yourself
I'm curious why no one uses relays to control the motors instead of hacking in cherry switches? I modded my Zeus with a 40 amp automotive relay between the battery pack and motors, and used the stock rev switch to activate it. It saved SO much time not having to fit a larger switch into the grip, and it revs instantly since the relay can handle much more current than the usual 10 amp switches.
I would add a foot and a half long by two and a half inch inner diameter fake barrel, probably PVC spray painted orange, make it look like a heavy gun that fires extraordinarily large rounds like cannon shells instead of lots of smaller rounds.
Excellent! The first real mod guide for the Prometheus. I'm not going to buy one or a Nemesis though as I'm not a gravity-feed fan, (I might wait for sales, but I'd never field one, I prefer running a pair of Hyperfires and a Khaos with a Modded Mega Cycloneshock for "close encounters" ) I prefer using mag-fed blasters, especially my Khaos and some spare mags and my Zeus with 7 mags. Interesting to see the insides of the Prometheus, your mod guides are fantastic. I love your wiring guides for circuits, I use them on all my blasters. You are certainly (in my humble opinion) the best when it comes to making easy to understand mod guides, I can make notes as you go along as to what connects to where. Which diameter wire did you use 18 AWG or 16? Also, would a Cherry DC10 work in a tight space, say, a Zeus running on a 2S 2200mAh 60C LiPo? I was wondering, as I have some Cherry DC10's some 16A Omrons and a ton of 21A Omrons, what the difference would be as previously I've only used 16A Omrons in my Stryfe builds? I was going to use the 21A ones for my Khaos and Zeus, what difference does it make, apart from the obvious amperage difference in the switches, what I mean to ask, WWCXD - What Would Captain Xavier Do? Or WWCD? You sir are an inspiration, a scholar and a gentleman, I bid thee good day and wish you many thanks for your excellent videos.
18g I think The switch needs to be rated to handle the voltage of the battery AND the combined stall current of the motors. Though, in all probability the wire and switches we have been told we "have" to use are probably MASSIVE overkill because in general we use our blasters in short bursts so overheating is actually fairly unlikely. It is really only in the super high capacity blasters that this is ever an issue. However, better safe than sorry.
@@CaptainXavier so a no on the DC-10 then on a Zeus with a 2S 2200mAh 40C LiPo, or a Rapidstrike with fang revampeds and a Honeybadger pusher, better going for a full sized Omron switch? I know 18 AWG it's only rated to carry 30 Amps, which is why I use 16 AWG for the higher amperage. I like the idea of swapping the triggers by the way, it should be like that to begin with anyway, it just makes more sense.
Question for q&a: is it possible to put a proton pack on a Prometheus and still be able to use the hopper? If so, is there a way to use the safety as a switch between hopper and proton pack
Not really. They will technically fit, but they will make contact with the shell and cause a WHOLE lot of noise as a result of the entire blaster vibrating.
I do but I generally attend the ones down in Centralia at Fort Borst. There are occasionally some up in Seattle. Join the PaNNC Facebook group. That is where we post events.

How would that even make a difference? They could just find out how much power it outputs and rewire it.
Looking forward to your cosmetic work video. I'm always amazed by the great work in the Nerf community, and enjoy all the creativity.

It is already done. I used ABS pipe and connected it used an XT-60 connector. 3.5mm is WAY too low a gauge for a 3S. It would melt.
Ah fair enough, I don't know too much about electronics to be honest. I try to stick with springers.
The intro just made me repeat it several times to figure out all the parts whithout laughing
When’s part 2?
Probably never, honestly... for...reasons...

Nope

I can barely open up an Alpha Trooper without breaking it, let alone rewire a whole minigun...
Best intro yet XD
Aw, I wanted to see what you would do with the speed controller.
If your talking about the turning nob that's actually the safety
He knows but it looks like a speed controller
Did you consider using a potentiometer to allow for an adjustable rate of fire?
I did but opted not to for the sake of simplicity.
I am heavy weapons guy, and this is my weapon. She fires custom foam round at 480 RPM. It costs $27 to fire this weapon.....for 28 seconds

Oh, people do. TYR has MOSFETs in him now. It is just that most people don't know enough about electronics to understand them.
Yeah, still waiting for a "part 2" of this, hopefully with a firing demo.

I was considering a mini-gun barrel...but I kinda like that more...
Captain Xavier Certainly would be simpler. No need for a motor or gear setup for rotating the barrel.
I wasn't going to bother with barrel rotation. Just cosmetics. Thus your idea is all the better.

Yes and yes. You would just need to wire it so flipping the safety activated the Proton Pack to refill the hopper.
I can't wait to see what this baby Tir will look like done!
This is a real how to! Btw, what gauge is the wire you’re using?
18g or 16g. Either are more than required but better safe than sorry.

Yes
This is the first one I've seen opened up. Can't wait to see how she performs. Great vid as usual. TkEZ»UK

Captain Xavier thanks do you know if there are 130 motors that are rated for IFR batteries
Must... Find... Way... To .... Put....A.... Drain blaster on it
I am insanely jealous, as I cannot afford the $370 AUD for one of those. As always, a very interesting video. Cheers.

You really do make me wonder what would happen if you left the battery light in and used a limo with it
Pretty sure it would pop...but the only way to know for sure would be to try it. :P
when will there be a showcase of the cosmetic mods made to this?
Possibly never...
i was looking for this for so long not that many people mod this blaster maybe cause tis expensive but thanks this is a great tutorial
If my stock battery dies, could I just put a normal nimh battery back in there?
Probably.
Hey cap, was wondering if where you placed the switches held up okay? Is there any other way to place them? Thank you for all of the great videos.
No failures so far. You can mount the switches wherever you want.
Thank you good sir. Almost done with mine. I just have to mount the switches and figure out the battery housing.
are there any kits out there to buy what is needed to do this?
Kits? No. Also you need is any on/off switch and a 3.5mm Audio Jack (preferably Mono)
How long did what you've filmed here take to accomplish?
About an hour, at most. Must of that was spent explaining things
NOOO There’s a part 2. I want to seee it
