Why doesn't anybody realise that PC gamepass has half the amount of games, and also doesnt require Xbox live to play online, so of course PC gamepass will cost less.
Edit: For the people that dont understand, you have to pay £/$10 a month to just play online on xbox. There is no charge on PC. This is included in the cost with gamepass console. Why should PC gamers pay for that part of the service that isn't required. Should online play be free on console? Sure, but it currently isnt. Don't like it? Buy a PC.

@@Kabodanki Man, I'd pay good money for a version of modern Windows that isn't awful! But at this rate Linux compatibility issues will become less of a pain to deal with than Windows BS. I've already got Mint running on all my old computers, and it's so nice to have an OS that just works without calling attention to itself, and without hogging the CPU with random background processes.
It's because Microsoft have more difficults taking money from PC gamers than Xbox, so they need to give a better deal.

I lost my confidence on Microsoft. I will cancel my subscription in September. This is unacceptable, this is worse than a rise. They basically dismembered the gamepass day one offer and put it behind a higher pay wall.

The only reason the Xbox Ultimate subscription costs more is that it also includes Xbox Live Gold ($10 a month), so technically you still get a discount. However, PC users do not pay for Xbox Live Gold, so they get just the regular Game Pass cost.

They’re just slowly getting everyone ready for the PC. The next Xbox will be like a steamdeck, essentially just a PC running a custom OS, with the ability to launch into a scaled down windows, like a steam machine was planned.
But PS didn't raise prices two years in a row.

They didn't. They raised prices once, last year. Not that it wasn't a greedy hike, but it was still only once.
They've also haven't expanded into new regions many years in the row. Sony used to have a lead over Xbox in this. Now it's trailing 11 regions behind. Microsoft didn't add new regions this year, but did every year since the Game Pass launched. And it's still 110 regions behind Valve and it's own Windows division.
PS plus is miles behind game pass when you compare with the library.
They also did not include more blockbusters in their "PS Now" lineup (don't know what's called now. PS Plus Premium?).
Do I get Spiderman 2, Horizon Forbidden West, GoW Ragnarök and stuff with PS Plus PRemium/ PS Now ? Last time I checked it wasn't the case.
That' why they don't bump up their subscription service but hold o to Disk prices and hardware prices.
Let's face it: Just before PS5 Pro launch the normal PS 5 should be on sell everywhere for 200 bucks! 249 with some new game and a second controller or something. Instead the prices are still much higher ... because Sony still doesn't bet on the subscription market. It's still hardware sales. Unlike Microsoft.
From a PS and PC gamer perspective my issue with gamepass on pc is i just dont think its worth it steam has so many sales hell just bought all the assassin's creed games for $18 they also had a bundles for Mk and batman games I get some ppl dont care to own but it just makes more since to buy tbh

There are a lot of PC only games on Game Pass for PC. All first party titles in the last five years are console and PC.
Point is: it doesn't matter if those (mostly smaller AA or Indie) games are not on Game Pass on PC - Because on PC you also have other Alternatives!
And over months and years there is quite a backlog of games in a GOG account, EPIC free games, Steam library (with Steam sales) or even free games from Amazon Gaming... Which could be the reason why PC gamers play older and none AAA titles not on Game Pass. On XBox - especially Series S or One S all digital you simply do not have any choice.

The first statement is still absolutely true. If subscriptions don't go up anytime a new game is introduced it is considered a failure. The fact said game is on Gamepass cuts into its' sales. It is a lose/lose situation. It doesn't matter how much they raise the price on the service.

Playstation fanboy spotted. Even with the price increase, Xbox is way better than playstation as they provide value for their costumers. Gamepass is much better now and has a lot of upcoming games that everyone loves to play while playstation has nothing. So it's absolutely reasonable that they increase the price. The need to make money from the gaming studios. If you're upset about this, go and play your cinematic exclusives on your PS5.

Playstation has Spiderman but Activision has a bunch of legacy Spiderman games in their catalog, including Deadpool, X-men and other Marvel titles. I would rebuy those games for PC even though I have them for GameCube.
Game Pass is a bum deal. It's your basic Music CD subscription service from the 80's without the ability to keep what they are sending you. Content leaves GP, content can't carry a save between GSS's like GP and PS+ or anything else. You're paying stupid amounts of money that could just as easily go into a sales season. 1yr of GP, I can spend on a steam sale and make out like a bandit on the games I want and still pay less. What's the point of GP at that point other than to lock us into velvet handcuffs that'll one day become a prison of our own making with 120 a month sub prices in the future. That's the MS dream. Hard pass on that.
Gamepass saves carry.
Gamepass allowed me to try a bunch of games I never normally would have paid for and ended up loving. I found Signalis thanks to GP and it's now one of my favourite games of all time.

You got lucky with one game that you could have gotten for less than a month of game pass. Unless you're discovering a new Favorite Game of all time every month, you're not really getting a value out of it based on your supplied point.
There are over 1000 games released a year, you're only getting little over 100 and many of them from previous years of not just xbox series' life, but one's live as well. That isn't even getting 360 games half of which you do not have access too thanks to a half implemented backward compatibility feature.
This model is going to sink them at the end of the day. I will not be surprised if MS ends up scrapping game pass after they pull out of the Xbox Console market.
@@KazeEternal You're missing my point. Game demos aren't as common as they used to be, you basically have to buy a game blind and hope you like it. Gamepass lets you demo heaps of games and find one you actually like for 1/10th the price of a single game.

As the owner of PS5 and XSX, I don't have a PC. I have top tier in both psn and gp. GP has more content, more consistency, and more games, 1st party exclusives. My PS5 last year. Sony raised the prices 35% less content, and I hardly touch my PS5. Cause their offerings are bare bones. Amazing when MS raise their prices, everybody talks about it. PS5 35% increase silent AF.💯✌🏾

GamePass DOES NOT have more games than PS+. Even though pS+ raised it’s price by “35%” it’s still cheaper than GamePass annually. And xbox is your preferred console. So of course you play it more. You can have your preference. Just don’t be disingenuous.

@@proteusxl9814it’s not a fact. Game Pass Ultimate (highest tier) has 559 games atm, including some that are PC only. PS+ Extra (middle tier) has 565 games. PS+ Premium (highest tier) has 631 games, or 958 if you include games that are only available through streaming.
PS+ Extra costs $135 with an annual sub while GPU will cost $240 now, despite having less games. Day one games is the only thing GP has over PS+, which is now locked behind the most expensive tier. GP Core and GP Standard are terrible compared to PS+.

You absolutely don't get it free, the plans that include Gampass are usually around £10 more than the standard variant. I worked for them until recently haha. It still works out as a better deal though.

They have screwed up with this price increase. They had already increased the prices 12 months ago, and now they introduce massive prices increases when the consumer is already tapped out.
They have already ready lost this generation on console and there is huge competition on PC.
Game pass went from good value to not worth it. I'll be sticking to Steam in future and what little incensive to switch from PS5 to Xbox has completely disappeared.

Alex hitting on a point there with the convoluted mess that is the combo of xbox app and MS store. I've been somewhat using it, but the experience is miserable. They have somewhat overlapping functionality but not completely. Still I don't intuitively know where to buy games from, where to install them from on a new device. The store having no button to show available DLC for games. Where do you update the games?
Personally I think they should unify these or at least move the buying and downloading part completely to the store app and have the xbox app just for your xbl-functionality.
You can use one xbox gamepass subscription on two consoles simultaneously. One console as Home, one as “slave”. Very good value for me and my 3 kids.

Considering Gamepass subscriber numbers seem to have peaked at around a similar number as there are Xbox console owners, I honestly don't think so. Probably about 95% of Gamepass subscribers are console owners (who may also have a PC, but are not PC only gamers). I don't think anyone on PC only is much interested; Steam sales are so cheap all the time that there's not much point.
I only use it when a new game that I am interest in is day one one gamepass. Buy for one month and see if I enjoy it enough to buy it later on discount. This year I will get gamepass for Stalker 2 and Black Ops 6 and I will see if I will like the games enough to buy them sometime later

Bought a few game's with that label, legitimately owning a game only to for that sign in or pop up window to keep crashing. Believe me I tried every forum and help at the time but didn't permanently fix the issue. Money lost. I'm not going to type out every issues I had.

There's too many other options, for MS to charge $20 for Game Pass on PC. I have (2) gaming PCs and a Series-X. There's no way I'm paying an extra $7, to also have the service on the inferior console.

I cancelled my console ultimate subcription and also stopped the rush to buy 'bugged' day one releases that offered cosmetics in the main. Now use that increased purchasing power to buy disc copies of lower price 'fixed' games from a variety of sources and enjoying the experience so much more.

Games only launch about a quarter of the time for me. I always get the same problem mentioned in the video where nothing will launch for an entire afternoon and it's because Windows or MS Store were waiting on an update.

The Xbox for Windows app is so terrible that I would rather pay full price to Steam/GOG/Epic than install a free version off the Xbox for Windows app.
No other launcher has this many problems with simply launching the game (the game doesn't crash, it just doesn't start at all).
The last straw for me was when I cloned my SSD into a bigger drive, and it broke every single one of my Xbox-for-Windows installations - the app just couldn't detect the files anymore. And I couldn't even delete the stupid files (hundreds of GBs!!!) without booting into safe mode and jumping through numerous hoops.

The message is crystal clear to me. I’m Xbox user, supporter and fan since the original Xbox came out. Yea I’m old.
To me the message is PC gamers are not so stupid as we console players. From the beginning it was ridiculous charging us console players for online gaming. I always defended a small fee for Xbox live services and party chat.
Today in times with discord there is no advantage an no other reason than to screw over console players.
I still have prepaid my Xbox Gamepass until next year. After that I’m done. And not only me. I will cancel for my two children as well. Xbox made it clear they don’t want me anymore. (Inclusivity, I mean I’m a white middle aged male so definitely not their target group anymore)
On PC I get everything I get in Xbox but better for less price. That is not how it used to be. Usually the Xbox offered great gaming for a lower price.

Its interesting the issues Alex has had with Gamepass PC. I havent had any issues, games install and run fine. So does not seem to be a universal issue. I use Playnite to combine all my games into one launcher. Makes for a really seamless system for me to play Steam, GOG, Epic, Xbox, and emulated games all from one place. I even stream my PC through moonlight/sunshine with Playnite in fullscreen mode to my TV for that console experience. I basically cant tell if a game was launched from Xbox app, steam, ect. because Playnite has a splashscreen addon that will keep the launcher popups hidden behind a spashscreen until the game is fully launched.

I do game on PC not as often tho I have a decent rig 5700x paired with 6950XT hooked up on a Samsung Odyssey G8 34" OLED. I love the experience but it can never feel like the console experience. I play on Series X mainly and I like to get achievements. But I assure youy if PC gets an integrated OS for gaming I am not going back to console gaming I will jus t connect my PC to TV as well. but as of now , Console gaming is just straight forward and superb despite its technical limitations. Also I notice games stutter alot on PC compared to consoles.
I think I'll stick with the top tier for now mostly to play the new COD which I haven't bothered with since the xbox 360 days and generally have it for occasional game streaming on my mobile, occasional series x use but mostly on the pc and sharing my content with my son on his series x but he generally just plays Fortnite, Battlefront 2 and Titanfall 2! The tier down might be a better option to save a few ££s.

I had it for a while, back when I first built a decent PC and was getting into video games for the first time. For me, in that instance, being able to try a wide library of games was fantastic. Once I ran out of the games that I liked though, I just ended up buying them for cheap on Steam and canceling my subscription

The PC version of the Xbox app really sucks, if you do manage to get a game to start but let's say you don't play it for a day or 2 when you go to start it, it will just close out before starting making you have to delete and redownload the whole game again. And this is on my 4090 PC with a 5800x3d CPU I built myself.
This week I joined the PC master race with a PC with an Intel Core 14th gen i9 14900, a 4090, 64gb ddr5 ram. I feel extremely superior and have vacated the console wars. Thank you.

So weird it’s like people don’t even realise what you get for pc gamepass vs ultimate are 2 complete different products…. Why not show a list of all the games available and perks for each tier that would be the correct way to show people that pc gamepass is far inferior to ultimate and even standard.
I just want a steaming-only tier, even if it's without Day 1 releases. They'll come eventually and most of us have lives outside of gaming.

I have GP ultimate but i still bought a lot of games that are included in the PC GP on steam sales because of the deck and steam is a much better experience on PC
I like how they keep mentioning PS Plus price increase which happen last year when Gamepass had price hike. PS Plus Extra ($135)(500 PS4 & PS5 games) and Premium ($160)(800+ games) yearly still cheaper than Gamepass Standard ($180 yearly)(300 games) and Gamepass Ultimate ($240 yearly) (500+)

A year ago XBox management said that Gamepass prices won't there increase due to the Activision merger and echoed it again just a few months ago saying there are no plans to increase Gamepass prices. I believe the most recent instance being at the "business update". The first was on obvious lie, the value proposition changes entirely when they bought ABK. The second is an egregious lie. Not all console games are available on PC, so there are less games for PC on Gamepass, Plus you would have to buy Ultimate in order to get Cloud gaming, so the price is exactly right.

My biggest problem is making console users pay for PC GamePass that 99% will never use as a console player. If PC GamePass can be $11.99 there should be a console only version for the same price.
If you still want to play games online, the standard Game Pass is effectively the same price.
The only difference is that PC Game Pass has less games, and is better for people who don't play online.

on Xbox console you're also paying extra for "online multiplayer access" where you are not on PC with online multiplayer being free

When there is on console because console gamers bend over backwards for these companies and have "console wars" and are willing to shill for them and pay money for services that should be free. MS did it back since the Xbox and Sony followed with the PS4. Nintendo did it with switch. Why do you think the whole Helldivers 2 thing blew up? Because PC gamers don't want PSN. It's anti consumer. PC gamers pay for Gamepass because its a Netflix type of thing but a lot of PC gamers don't use it because they wanna own and mod their games.
The meta quest has been selling more units than Xbox in the last 2 years. And is growing year on year unlike Xbox.

How do you guys run into problems with Xbox app? I'm using it since CK3 launched as Game Pass for PC day one. I'm modding those games (NTFS tinkering with folder ownership required ok). Sometimes I break them, uninstall, install again and go.
It's far cry from Steam and even GOG Galaxy, but I can't replicate none of the issues described.
My only issue with it is that even for 1st party title, Steam gets beta patch and Xbox app must wait for that patch to go out of beta. But that feature is a killer feature of Steam that leaves others in the dust.
Games only launch about a quarter of the time for me. I always get the same problem mentioned in the video where nothing will launch for an entire afternoon and it's because Windows or MS Store were waiting on an update.

Is this realy that big of a issue when your spending an extra fiver give or take it’s not a lot money plus what you get for your money is worth it, think people need to stop expecting everything for nothing, you get what pay for you want cheap pay cheap you want quality then it comes at a cost
Maybe it's cheaper because playing on PC is basically a punishment at this point. Unoptimized buggy ports, too many dumb programs and windows. The console experience is so much more polished and direct. Gamers care about playing games, not fiddling with settings and fighting with windows. Not to mention sitting at a desk on a small monitor. Even if it's a living room PC the experience is pretty sub optimal. I vastly prefer a comfy couch and a 65" TV with a streamlined experience.
You obviously don't play on PC. It's no different than playing on console these days. Plus, my PC has HDMI Out, which plugs right into my TV. And I have an Xbox controller that I use with my PC, but I could use a PS5 controller if I wanted to.
@@G360LIVE It's totally different. You have to fiddle between keyboard and mouse and controller... it's a mess. There is no way to get the console experience on PC. Even big picture mode can't touch a dedicated console experience. Windows is not primarily a gaming platform. Xbox and Playstation have dedicated operating systems designed to first and foremost play games.
PC Game pass games don't run anywhere near as good as on Steam...cannot even play fallout 4 on pc game pass. but on Steam it is fine.
I do also think that GP on XBox should be cheaper compared to other platforms. It would boost sales a bit in the long run - Series S is the proof that for many people a cheap opportunity is needed for gamers where gaming is like the fourth hobby.
Still: *XBox is still quite cheap!* Compared to a PlayStation, to a new PC with more power than Series X or in a case as small as the Series X is a deal.
I wonder if Game Pass becomes a dynamic package deal some day in the future ?! It could be like one price range from 5 - 50 bucks. What counts are the hours per month - you play more you pay more - no matter if console (maybe even PlayStation at some point), PC, Xcloud, mobile.
Inexpensive should be the right word. Neither the hardware nor the experience is cheap.

I just wanted an annual sub for my birthday. I found one and put it in my wish list in June. no problem. discounts everywhere. Fast forward 1 week and Microsoft announces new prices, you can get the old price and stack 36 months, they said. Fast forward to my birthday week. The wife " I cant find what you want," she said, "it doesn't exist," she said, and I say; "of course it exists. We have til September." This is all just Microsoft tricking and lieing to their consumers, we didn't ask for a price increase and now we are stuck paying for one. They lost me here. I will unsub, and I'm going back to pirating. If they do not lower prices they will loose. The best way to reap profits is to get every single gamer that wants new titles, charge them 1.99 a month. Microsoft. Mark my words. YOU WILL MAKE WAY MORE MONEY IF YOU LET EVERYONE GAME AND SET AN ULTIMATE LOW PRICE. YOU WILL GET/WIN EVERYONE'S MONEY AND REAP THE PROFITS.
If you increase the price of PC Game pass, people will just go ahead and torrent the games. Xbox users won't do that.
Very few games can be cracked nowadays. Only one person in the world can crack denuvo and she only works on a couple of games per year.
@@BassLiberators I did not know that. In past all games for PC would get cracked and be available for download 12 - 24 hrs post launch.

Everyone called it because we all knew it was going to happen. To be honest, the few extra dollars/pounds per month is not particularly egregious when you consider what you get. However, I don't like how they locked online multiplayer into Game Pass Ultimate, as there will be some gamers who only want to play online and will be getting short-changed on this deal. They should have kept that separate in my opinion.
I'm curious if the "low" pc price for game pass is to incentivize those 1 game only players (COD/FIFA) to subscribe instead of buy. This way they get those people to join up, AND then they can charge them all these little fees as well like opening packs, or cod season passes. etc. If you unsubscribe you lose your games, so seems like a good way to get people in w/ that monthly price but over the course of the year it just costs more if you are one of those players.
But who wants a trashy gaming PC though?
I tried PC gaming a while back and it sucks with all their different clients. Also often you to have deal with evasive DRM too no thanks. I tried playing Apex Legends on PC and there was players on their that were invincible. I bought the remastered version of COD4 on Steam and the game wouldn't start. I spent two hours trying to figure it including looking online for a fix but nothing worked. I got a refund then I booted my PS5 and was having fun within seconds. A few days days later I returned the RTX 4070 ($600) and got my money back. I'm happy I tried PC gaming but never again. The only thing I use my PC for is internet use/light work and emulators that's all it's good for well at least for me. I know there will be people who say it's cheaper in the long run but it's not,(those days are gone) consoles have game sales all the time. Just one component a decent GPU for the PC is the cost of the current gen console alone.
Yep, I feel like Alex is way off with PC being more cost effective in the long run. These digital store fronts on console consistently have sales that are on par with steam these days, not to mention the sales for physical games as well.
I've built a gaming PC in the past and PC gaming was just more of a headache than it's worth for me personally. I have a decent laptop with a 2060 that I primarily use for coding and light gaming, but I vastly prefer the plug and play experience of console.
