I have the US General service cart and so far it's been great. Just couldn't spend the amount of money that a Matco, Snap On , Mac or Cornwell costs. Each to their own.
I have US General at home. The Cornwell Power Cart at the shop.

Like the ICON Toolboxes and I have 56" box, built like a tank and that's no exaggerating. Had my ICON 2 yrs now and completely satisfied with my purchase.
Told myself I wouldn’t buy anything today.. ended up with the GearWrench Mobile work table
I have my Snap On top, center and bottom boxes I bought new in 1984 and a new US General box. The new US General box is just as good as my Snap On boxes.
Rewatching this a year later 😂 Man I wish Harbor Freight was in the UK too. Dont think a us general would fit in the suitcase 😅

For 6k you could buy two 71” set ups one with a hutch one with top box for less than the Matco bottom three bank , I have the same 6s you have their 👍I think the General box is nice
I’ve been working out of a series one 44” box with the side stack for years. Yeah, is crappy….But it’s fully functional. All the paint in still on it (Unlike my Cornwell box). I’m really debating going with either this box or an Icon. I’ve priced out a Matco, but I can’t see spending that kind of money on a box. For that price I could buy the US General, a top of the line Launch scan tool, and a Picoscope. And still have money left over.

I'd never judge anyone based on their storage. Worked with a guy that came from a dealership with built ins and he probably had close to 6 figures of snap on in a husky
I bought a Snap on 84 epic for my garage. Would I do it again NO. I was very disappointed in the finished product. Last month I bought a US General cart and love it !

That was a great video. I've been looking at the series 3 boxes and the icon box. I was just wondering why you chose the series 3 box over the icon. I was also wondering what you think about the icon 73 inch box. You've really helped me decide on what tools to buy. I'm not a fan of the hutch. I like having a top box. I look forward to more of your videos.
The price point since I already had one super heavy duty box and this unit is for overflow from that box is the main thing. If i could have afforded the icon i would have went that route but honestly my og HF box held up fine but i never move it across the shop and stuff like that.

I prefer a top box, my set up is a Snap On close to your Matco set up.
For me its more about the Chinese vs American made issue.

Harbor Freight has really stepped up their game on tool boxes.
As nice of a box as the US General may be, I cannot bring myself to purchase any tools made in China.
But you can use Chinese batteries in your power tools that could burn house or shop down? Same applies with that Chinese phone you are typing this on? Or watch on you Chinese television? But won’t trust a Chinese box that holds tools? Very interesting! I value my home and life more than my tools. Just saying.
Nice review and explanation as to what you're placing in drawers and why. Just not for me, I do believe that companies are either building products for a consumer market, or they won't be in business.
The only problem i have is the depth of the drawers (from front to back) 19 inches is to small.
For the price you can buy two of these full set ups less than you can pay for half a bottom box off the truck… to each their own. But I can say this, for the money it’s hard to beat. Can barely buy a locker for the price of the entire set up
Would definetly go with the top box, rather have the tool storage over the hutch, would like to see overhead storage like the Icon for cased items, but storage lockers could handle most of my stuff!

For the money US General is hard to beat. I'm waiting till they come out with a purple box.
I saw somewhere that purple is coming because it was listed with a part number in a manual for something they make. Some sleuth on TH-cam pointed out. Sorry I can't recollect exactly where, but keep your eyes peeled for it and hopefully you'll find it. Best!

Clay, I have an original US GENERAL 56" PRO SERIES. That box has served me very well since I got it in 2013, the only thing I have had to do to it is repaint the top box as it was starting to have surface rust on it from weather, yes it was outside for a couple of years covered up in tarps while I was waiting on a new barn. Not one bit of it was due to mfg, all my own doing. But a few cans of red spray paint and it was good as new. I hope to upgrade to a series 3 in the near future.
When I didn't have an office, the hutch was my desk/office/workstation. Now that I have the cushy dirty corner office space, the hutch is a junk collector. YMMV
Great chose Clay. With the cost of everything through the roof you have to save money. The quality of the tool boxes and many of the tools at HF have really improved.
Just got the 3 series 56" today picking it up tomorrow, cant wait! It will pair real nice with my little 5 drawer cart.

Tech Tip, Remove the KEY CODE from the lock... You can obtain keys way toooooo easy. You can get different bushings for the friction sliders latching system for matco / mac

Just bought the series 3 56 inch box. Extremely impressed by it to be honest. I will be getting the top chest as well as I don't really see the point to the hutches as well

! have a 26" snap on box, with a small side locker. my thoughts is, if I get pissed enough, I can put that box in the back of my truck, anything bigger, I have to go and get a trailer or have someone else move my box. I still want to win that ratchet.
I saw a decent amount of people hate on this box and I just dont understand why people say quality but the price says it all it aint gonna be perfect and another one I heard is that its not deep enough but for the price I say its an amazing deal

The drawers like to come open unlocked in the Matco when moving it.I had to replace the drawer slides in one drawer of my Dad's Lower Snap On toolbox under warranty.About 35 years old and he bought it new,first set of the slides that were replaced.One shop in my area,the owner paid $54,000.00 for a huge Snap On set up

There is a lot to be said about harbor freight lately. Personally I have always had great luck with buying used boxes. My current snapon krl series 54" with stainless top all in cost me 2k. Also, I much prefer the deeper drawers vs longer box as it takes a smaller footprint. I think the new series 3 will be a great option for new techs that want a big box. But doesn't hurt to hold out for a smoking used deal on a usa made box.

Very nice! For my birthday this winter, I’m trading in my old Matco 6S 25” for a new 31” 6S with a different drawer layout.
I don’t care for the hutches. They cost too much for what they do. A top box just makes more sense for me. I’ve never understood why some people hate on the tools and toolboxes that others seem to like. What works for some people may not work for others and that’s normal.
I love my US General Black service cart with heavy duty casters it’s a beast as I am an x snap on Industrial salesman back in the Eighties

That looks amazing! I got the us general 5 drawer cart during black Friday for $189. The slate gray with black trim. It feels so professional and I’m enjoying it as a homeowner/ diy car guy. I also have a craftsman 5 drawer rolling box and debating getting a matching top box or Us General top box.

Love the tool truck boxes but I can't afford them so. I bought the us general box and love it. It holds all my heavy duty tools no problem.

I was hoping for a roll cart where the top slides open so you don’t have to move the stuff on top to get into the top of the box!!! That’s going to be a big one to roll around the shop especially full of tools good luck if it comes to that 😂!!!!

It’s not loaded down yet but it feels the sales as my us general 6 drawer and empty it felt just like my snap on did. It’s help up fine

No it has a power strip and the cable runs out the back of the box. Obviously this was a brand new box and I hadn’t ran the cord out the back yet
