A Partial shoulder replacement is a ream and run correct? People only get 50-60 percent relief?? I'm in my late 40's and want to continue weight training after surgery. I was told a partial replacement " ream and run" was my best option but to hear you say they are being faced out nowadays is concerning since I'm planning on getting one in a couple months.
R&R is only where only the ball is replaced, other side is reamed out to fit the ball correctly. Once you heal there are no restrictions and nothing to wear out like with a total shoulder replacement. R&R are not getting phased out & are not only 50-60 % effective. Complete misinformation imo. Many doctors don't know how to do them effectively, so they may say that because they aren't comfortable doing them. Takes a highly skilled surgeon to perform a R&R correctly. I've had both shoulders repaired with in the past 2 years. I'm doing great now, back in the gym, lifting heavy again with very little pain. I'm nearly back to 100 percent now with both shoulders. It takes nearly 2 years to get your final results although u keep getting better each month. You need to pick the right doctor. One who does alot of R&R. I live in RI and had Dr Andrew Green do mine. Best R&R doc in the country in my opinion. Good luck
I had a partial replacement almost 2 years ago. Unfortunately, the titanium humeral head is wearing on the glenoid causing a lot of pain. Doc says I need the glenoid implant put in. The reason he didn’t do it in the first place is because my humeral bone migrated to the rear. He says that can cause the glenoid implant to come loose, yet now he wants to do it ? If it’s going to possibly come loose......?
I’m very active, Jiu Jitsu, cycling etc. I understand for obvious reasons why to stay away from Jiu Jitsu, especially if someone were to put someone in an Americana or a kimura. That could be catastrophic to a shoulder. But what about just the grabbing and pulling, and squeezing? Is that bad ? I have been told by a couple orthopedics that any pulling exercises in the gym are fine. Why would that be any different than pulling on a Gi in a Jiu Jitsu class?
I know a man age 44 who used to do heavy weight lifting now his shoulders are bad. He said he has goats beard one shoulder and surgery needed in the other but he's too young.
15:22 there are 2 audio clips overlayed and it’s very confusing
Thank you...
This video help me a lot!
