Funny thing is, it was possible to keep both characters back then when we could transfer from 360 / PS3 to Xbox One / PS4. Same thing in 2015 when PC came out, you could transfer on PC while keeping your character on Xbox One / PS4. It was great.
And now 7 years later it's no longer possible to keep your character on both platforms. Well done Rockstar lmao
With our luck Rockstar might just be cutting the life support for the old gen servers.
I wouldnt be supprised if they shut down PS4 servers in a year or 2

Like Professional said tho, if they raised the payouts for everything, they'll just even it out by making things more expensive. They can double biker payouts, sure. But they can also double the price of vehicles little by little over the course of a few updates too. Before you know it, that pay increase is useless.

This is way different of transferring it on 2014 when the PS4 and Xbox one came out The only other way I would migrate to new gen consoles is when they're gonna shut down the servers of PS4 and xbox one.

But even rockstar and t2 pissed on the classic legacy that made GTA gta back in the day by butchering the original trilogy.

@@kaydixon3579 Yeah technologically speaking it wasn't a simple port the reason they couldn't Make this an update for all consoles was because they had a literally rebuild the game from the ground up to do most of the stuff in here, Never promised anything big just simple graphical upgrades with some, content not a lot some. They never promised any story mode dlc either, as they stated years ago after scrapping the 3 dlc they had planned they wouldn't make any DLC for story mode. Cyberpunk 2077 not only did that but eventhough the game was a toral dumpster fire in the beginning they really turned it around a year later and now at least on Series X its totally worth it!
i can only attest for ps4+ps5 but if you own the title on the previous gen, online is free. the story mode is where the payment is required.

I also agree with professional this was way different from old Gen consoles with the PS3 and xbox 360 When you transfer your GTA account on PS3 and xbox 360 to your PS4 and xbox one you will still be able to have it on the PS3 and Xbox 360.
They most likely do it so players dont do different things with each character. Like let's say you can only afford a car or a boat, but not both, so you buy a boat on one platform, then on the other you buy the car. They purposely did this so you would have to spend more money on the game. That's just my opinion. The only other thing I could think of is "keeping the servers alive and there being less data so it saves them money" but in reality it doesn't take ANYTHING to run a database.

As someone who plays primarily Solo, I'm not very familiar with to what extent people, could transfer their character (including money) to Next-Gen, and subsequently go back to their old account and eg. give away their cash to other players (friends etc). People who could then transfer their account to Next-Gen, and in turn go back to their old accounts...

There's absolutely no reason for the previous gen character to be deleted like this.
If you have millions of dollars in past gen, you won't need to buy more shark cards. They can't be having us playing the game without making us pay more money
The reason is solely from a business standpoint, however they have got it wrong.
The idea is that it pressurises PS4/Xbox One owners to upgrade to a PS5/XS because the friends who have upgraded are leaving them behind.
But with how difficult it is to get the consoles and people being unable to afford them, there's more people with previous gen consoles than next, so the majority people will just make the decision to not transfer yet so they can continue playing with friends.

I thought the character migration was terrifying. They gave me an option to overwrite my existing character simply by pressing X, or hitting square to keep my existing! Imagine accidentally hitting X. Such a weird system they set up.

Professional I appreciate the heart you put in these videos, your videos help me level up from LVL 10 TO NOW AT LVL 174...from someone like myself who only got into GTA ONLINE from watching your videos...I was lucky enough to get a Ps5 and I did the transfer ONLY because I grind alot solo...and I definitely feel your pain and others pain...and you are ABSOLUTELY CORRECT....out of my 40+ friends on psn only 3 have a Ps5...and I definitely get it....I got into GTA online after suffering from a tractor trailer accident (not at fault) and lost my truck driving career and playin' this helped me keep my sanity...and relieved some stress....thank you 👊🏾❤ for videos and helping someone like me much ❤ brother....btw ptsd from being a veteran and this accident is REAL..and difficult AF to overcome....we veterans thank you all who keep us on your mind for what we went through for this country it means alot to us 💯🎯🙏🏾🇺🇸🏅🥇🎖

I agree with a number of points that you made; I wouldn’t say that Rockstar is discriminating against PS4 and XBOX One users, but I do think it’s unfair that we won’t be getting those increased payouts.
I kinda somehow knew this was going to happen 😅 why I'm on a hiatus from their online & games in general even though I'm playing rdr2 (story mode) & bully (I absolutely love) same with rdr2 not so much for gta apart from their 3D & gta 4

We never had this issue back during the days of PS3/Xbox 360 people still kept their characters after the transfer.
No other game has had this issue. I can play all my Series S optimized games on Xbox One still & progress carries over flawlessly. I didn’t have to make a complicated decision or pay money or have a deadline. Just hit the update button.
Professional after transferring my character I lost 4 million dollars that didn’t transfer over from the free monthly ps plus money. After 30 min of reviewing my account info they told me “I am sorry to inform you that the funds purchased via shark card sales will not migrate to the new next gen console.” So essentially I got scammed. I have ss of this too if it would have been shark cards I’d be suing them right now.
How did you get scammed when none of your actual money when into "purchasing" the free millions through ps plus? It's probably cause you didn't login to last gen before porting over.
@@joshmclovin It’s not free because in order to get the money you had to have ps plus. Also they told me that shark card sales wouldn’t transfer. Although it prob is because I didn’t log on to current gen, correct me if I’m wrong but I didn’t see them state anywhere that the money would disappear if I don’t log on before migrating.

I've been disappointed in how Rockstar has been managing things for the last year or pretty close. Like you've said, with red dead getting no updates, the definitive edition trilogy was a total disaster, the contract dlc, and the cayo perico dlc were all trash events of some type of release from the company. Safe to say I'm gonna quit and I mean 100% quit gta online if Rockstar doesn't change their ways soon.

Rockstar has been absolute shit the past few years. They don’t like their most beautiful game, Red Dead Redemption 2. The trilogy was most definitely NOT definitive and it is a port of the mobile version. Why they didn’t do it themselves is beyond me. The studio they outsourced it to has a history of terrible work.
@@AnTunZee They can't milk RDR2 as much as GTA 5, and the mobile studio was cheap to hire. Everything is max money to hell with the cost to consumers or consequences.

That's why I'm not transferring to next gen. Majority of my crewmates don't have a PS5. So I'll remain in the PS4 version until either the last day of transfer or until Rockstar officially announces on discontinuing updating the PS4 version. And honestly it's not worth transferring.
Also despite the increase pay in MC Businesses. It's still NOT worth it because they still did not bring back the Duffle Bags sell mission so it's still obsolete.
Pretty sure they might announce the discontinuation for future dlcs on old gen sooner than imagined looking at the backlash they’ve been getting, surely that’ll force players to migrate to next gen. Well idk, I am a PC player so who am I to guess how consoles work, hell we don’t even know the future for PC players like me yet so only time will tell I suppose

Because then they couldn’t justify charging money for the exact same game. They had to go make a whole separate “new” game. Every other game is just seamlessly optimizing their old gen games to next gen with a simple free update. It takes zero thought. You just hit the update button & you’re done.

Rockstar has gone way too far with their nonsense and corruption, and is anyone gonna acknowledge the fact that it's not anything new or special that Rockstar has re-released the game for the PS5, with the same graphics, functionality and mechanics. This is why there's no Bully 2 coming out, no GTA 6 being released or anything. It's already been 8 years since, prior to the release of the current GTA game and we haven't gotten anything new ever since.

I'll be honest with you, the deleting of your character on last gen didn't really bother me given that one of the only games I still played on last gen was GTA. But what really really sucks is the lack of crossplay. That is incredibly stupid on rockstars part.
So after its deleted, and you have to start fresh on the ps4 , does that effect your gta character on your ps5 account? Like once you start fresh does it start you fresh as well on your ps5?

I’m having issue with migrate still. Won’t let me migrate. I played legit, never done any glitches. I saw on TH-cam so many money, RP and car glitches been able to transfer their character. It’s ridiculous.
If u transfer id say its fair to use money glitches. If it really upsets your just break even with your previous money
You might not be able to transfer because you transfered from ps3 to ps4 or xbox 360 to xbox one. That's what rockstar support said to me which is BS.

Man I can see why all the og's(lazlow,lezlie beznies,the houser bros) rockstar games left when the company actually had value to its name. They saw the writing on the wall and quit/retired. However I hear sam houser wants to create a game studio and with his millions he made at rockstar over the years since the start in 98 hell he and lezlie benzies were both there from the start from dma designs days I can see why he wouldn't have a problem starting one.
Benzies is already working on Everywhere and i highly doubt he's going to do anything with the Houser brothers anymore. They sent him away on hiatus and then threw him out of the company.

GTA Online I got to the point where I have all the businesses and I completely ditched doing biker businesses because I play solo and the payout is shit and its just such a hassle. Constant raids and not having the choice of having one sale vehicle. I sell the nightclub when I have a good quantity of product and only is either very peaceful lobbies or low pop lobbies. But I haven't played in a few months.
I have everything and only use the nightclub sell missions for money. Not ad fast but still make bank and less hassle.

On Xbox One you can still create a solo public session for business sales by setting multiplayer games to block. You can't do this on Series X on E&E. So the increase in MC payouts is worthless. The CEO and MC businesses are worthless on Series X because you can only solo lobby if you can mess with your network. They should switch the OG businesses to functioning in invite only sessions

Sounds like PC / Old Gen is still the way to go. The only time I would consider transferring to next gen if that becomes my new primary console. And that will be in the mid-late 20's for sure when there is more, generation-exclusive games on either platforms. I might have a new PC by then as well.
I didn't get a PS4 until 2016 for reference. Was still playing on my PS3 until cross-gen releases stopped being made. Its going to be the same here.
