Those tires are rowdy. Couple little points as a professional mechanic and tire guy; you don't need to tear open the bags on the balance beads, just throw them in whole, they break open almost right away when you start driving the first time. Also, you should torque those beadlock rings criss crossed all around to make sure the ring compresses everything equally and seats evenly. Love Gridloc. One of my favourite current rigs.
not sure if they also act as balance but there's a new product called multi seal and it's Kevlar powder and it instantly seals any puncture leaks. have to check with the manufacturer to see if it also balances like this stuff I know that is basically a Teflon powder got a friend that did sell my tires and he told me about it it's called equal with what he used..
Robert Lewis and with the double beadlocks, he should be able to air them down pretty low without worrying about losing air out the back. Can’t wait to see the improvement in performance when we hit the trail!
Here in BC. Ive been running the 46" claw cut simular to yours in the snow since the week they first came out, on a 16" rim at trail pressure of 4 PSI AND DEEP SNOW AT DOWN TO 2 PSI. These new Mickeys look like they would be much better in mud and on the rocks. I still prefer a 16" rim to keep up your ground clearence and still have the nesisary bulge in your tire, keeping enough room between the rim to prevent damage from a pointed object. Will love to see these in action. CHEERS Steve h.
Been doing the Rubicon since 1967 and thing's Were different !! In 82 i was running Dick Cepek , Monster Mudder's 44in. And i was walking over everything back then 🤗 !! Nice Video Miss Holly and Carry on ! Meet u on the O.P.S Trails 😎✋✌️
Excellent tire It's a 50,000 mile all terrain, but is has the aggressive look of a mudder. This is the second set I have put on my truck. The last set were good for 60,000 tough miles. This tire looks good, holds up well, and is much quieter than a mud tire.
I like the look of both tires but the new ones (with the double bead locks) are bound to perform better in most situations. Really enjoy seeing how they are mounted. I had never heard of double bead locks before.
OMF beadlock conversions are awesome. I run them on my jeep as a single beadlock now and it would be nice to make them a double beadlock like Nic's. Great video and thanks for sharing.
We like the new kid on the block!!! Holly we absolutely love ur videos please keep them coming!!! We are building a 95 ZJ that's what we roll with literary rolled one last year but everyone was 👌!!! This one is getting Dana 60's and we do all the work ourselves helps that my Ol Man is a Mechanic by trade and an amazing fabricator plus a perfectionist at everything!!! Hoping we can meet you and ur husband on one of the trails as we are trying for a trip to The Rubicon ,Fordyce and MOAB within the next two years depending on the $ !!!
SandraBee that sounds like an awesome new build! We are planning to hit at least 12 states this year, so hopefully we will cross paths at some point. Best of luck with the build 😀🤙🏻
Gridlock is such a beast. Honestly I dont know which tire I prefer, they both appear amazing on video. However, I did learn something about the availability of getting double beadlocks without having to use Hutchenson. I hope you have Nic on again. It is really nice to get to know the man behind RockStar and Gridlock.
@@MischiefMakerTV That will be awesome! I know you work for Rockstar garage...that is correct? Learning about Mischiefmaker, you & Rockstar garage is fascinating to me.
Thanks for showing the double bead lock!... one question though, I thought one needed to torque the bolts in a star pattern, and I saw him just do it round counter clockwise. So just curious why (and yes I know it's a ton easier doing the way he did.
I definitely have to say the new kid on the Block I don't believe Mickey Thompson would have come out with a different set of tires without performing a whole lot better. The reason I love their brand they always put performance first.
Agreed! I’ve had the chance to actually sit and talk with the folks who designed my tire and the Pro XS and they are some of the most awesome tire geeks you’d ever want to meet. I could spend hours listening to them talk about tire structure and testing AND I’m even happier that members of the Rockstar team are part get to help test new prototypes for MT!! 😀🤘🏻
Mickey Thompson tires were banned in Canada as they refused to put a snow rating on their tires. In Canada there has to be a stamp on the tire with a snowflake and or a mountain icon to show it is winter capable. I have Cooper Evolution M/T with a M+S & rating but no 3PMSF rating that classifies it as a "winter tire".
awesome video and great wheeling you have a beautiful jeep we love the fact you always look like you have no fear to try any course especially when you are 3 wheels climbing saw you on litebrite so happy you have a channel now keep up the great work #STAYWHEELING AND STAY SAFE
New kids on the block for sure! Love the double beadlocks, informative too!! I just finished putting my beadlocks together, might go with a double now tho, looks good!
I had a Tacoma and I was running just 31s Baja Claws.. I really enjoyed how I knew where I have been because it puts such a unique pattern on the tracks
9929kingfish yeah, I didn’t even know you could get beadlocks machined into double beadlocks. Hopefully I’ll be able to do the same to my next set of wheels. 🤞🏻
New tires with double beadlock are definitely the better-looking tire and wheel. I mean, really, those tires are just mean looking! My question is, who is going to run the 58-inch ones?
Very cool no doubt have to let us know how they ride I didn't even know they made a street version of that tire. I ran three sets of Mickey claws on a TJ and currently MTZ P3 on a JK. Definitely an interesting design compared to anything else I've seen over the years.
kswyg I really think the Baja Boss and Boss sticky are the best tires they make. Still love the Pro X and the Pro XS, but if MM wasn’t a dedicated trail rig, I’d probably go with Bosses 😎👍🏻
I have seen monster truck tires, and like I said before, they were obviously designed for that sport, there's a mind set for that sport, and those people, good for them, but as I am browsing the TH-cam airwaves, and learning all the 4x4 wheel drive conversions systems, and I dam sure admire it ,100% , everyone has their own opinion of transportation and their own opinion of fun, I'm not big on mud, but go for it anyway if that's your idea of fun, dig it, I like 4x4 trucks for winter use ,and especially after a snow storm or ice storm, when you have a tire that is a foot and half wide, and almost 4ft high, I'd call that some perty good muscle, and sometimes the snowy roads do freeze up rather hard, and I have seen our local county garage, it took them a whole dam week just to make it out to our location, this was yrs back, the snow was an average of 2 1/2 ft deep plus , we couldn't get out for a whole f------- week , now if I'd that tire on my truck , HAY, there's a dam strong chance I'd would have been out to the store getting food, when you step outside on the front porch, and I look at the snow, where in the hell did everything go, the snow was above the porch ,,you tell me, just what in the hell would you do, if i had a 4x4 truck with good clearance, I can't wait, the house electric was off, got down to 35 degrees, I've been sleeping with my clothes ever since, we didn't lose any food, that was a small blessing, I like big ground clearance on a 4x4 for snow emergencies, tell me, I'm not going anywhere ,you wanna put money on it , I'm gone, I'm tired of the county utilities, my vote goes for the PRO X S, KEEP IT THAT WAY, I've got my 4x4 truck in my mind, yeah, it's just a dream for now, wayneeden95@gmail.com
New combo is going to deliver in the rocks and just about everywhere you point & shoot your rig. The Baja's do make good floating tires for sand and snow wheeling, many up here wheel with them in the deep snow and stay up top. New tires and wheels are going to give you more fun.
I'm so upset I've been getting back into fixing up my old truck. I had 325 85 16 Mt Baja claw and they DISCONTINUED IT...... i guess I'm going to try the baja pro SX 38 13 50 17
You’ll enjoy them better if you balance them properly... I run 46 inch claws on 20X14 Staz works double bead locks and I spun and balanced mine nearly perfectly. I’ve messed with the balancing beads and didn’t enjoy them. That’s my favourite jeep on the internet. It’s epic.
Jimmy Paulgaard yeah, I never bother to balance mine at all. That’s awesome that you managed to get them nearly perfect without using a ton of weights! It’s such a heavy tire
The XS is an awesome looking tire...what the cost of those...where can I get a good price?..running 44" TSLs...those would look awesome on my k30 '77 stepside squarebody....
You: "I love love love reading the comments!" Me: "I love love love listening to you speak in your Scottish accent!!" :-) Oh, and my vote is "New Kid on the Block" too!
Lower air pressure will ware out your side walls faster it may give you a bigger patch surface on the ground but side walls get hot an break down faster .

Great advice. That’s surprising about the balance beads...I had no idea! 😀

The New kid on the block 👍😉🇺🇸👍🇬🇧👍 I can't wait to watch you too in action climbing up some of them vertical walls. 👍
Double bead lock😍 new school looks amazing from here.
Epic!!! Those are insane. They're like tank track when he had no air pressure. Definately like the new tires. Well played.
Robert Lewis and with the double beadlocks, he should be able to air them down pretty low without worrying about losing air out the back. Can’t wait to see the improvement in performance when we hit the trail!

Damn that caliper to wheel gap is close.
Nice jeep, I really like the grill.
Hope everyone is well.
Keep up the great job!
Custom jeeps and their silly tight tolerances 😒... 🤣🤣
Think of it as a "wheel bearing indicator" 😎👍

Did you just say all terrain?
I like the look of both tires but the new ones (with the double bead locks) are bound to perform better in most situations. Really enjoy seeing how they are mounted. I had never heard of double bead locks before.

I’m gonna be doing the same on my next set of wheels!
Nothing like hearing finder lizards talk about who can climb the highest, steepest, and neurally rocks, Love it!!

DogHouse 96ZJ 😀🙌🏻
I’m in love with that Jeep!
I would say the new tires for sure.
This is the first time I have noticed Hollies English accent. Hot! My God those tyres are enormous.
I like the Pro XS, just like the look of the squared off tires.
I really didn't like that about my tires at first, but they have really grown on me at this point. Love the look!
Gridlock is such a beast. Honestly I dont know which tire I prefer, they both appear amazing on video. Love the daily blog. I definitely like the new mickeys over the old.
jesse davis totally agree! The my are DOT, but the compound is still pretty soft IMO. Can’t wait to see how they perform 🤩

Thank you
Love this Jeep. Saw it on a trailer a few months back leaving Vegas most likely from SEMA headed towards Cali. Hoping to get to that level one day.
Where can I get those wheels? I can't find them anywhere.
Definitely the New kid on the block. 👍👍🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲👍🇬🇧
Thats just UNREAL !!!! Definitely the new kid on the block !!!
Good Morning. I like the new
Pro XS, they're so WIDE!!!!
Roger Almeida appropriately beefy for a build like GRDLOC 🤩
New kid on the block looks good! 🤤
Dylan Emma Olson agreed, I’m a huge fan of them and the compound is soft but I’m definitely sticking with my sticky compound Pro X tires for 2020 😃

MONSTER WHEELS 🌶🌶 New kid for sure!
Nic, I would say I like the tire that performs best in the trail brother! Love your Jeep. Mischief Maker is no slouch either!! Goals😎
Yes I have to look at this old to. That was big wheel!!
Those double wammies seem pretty dope.
I like the new double bead lock MTs. ….with Mischief Maker crawling on top of them.
