Same lol, it was such a fun rabbit hole to go down back when it was just starting to get popular (before TH-cam kids got to it). Even now the forums are fun to go back to once in a while. Kane has a bright career ahead of him
I knew he was obviously a very clever and creative young man but I didn't expect him to be so intelligent, aware, thoughtful and level-headed. It's no wonder everyone expecting great things from him for decades to come. Good job parents!
He’s so cool, I’m 16 and have so much ideas in my head that I never acted on because I don’t know where to start He definitely inspires me to stop being lazy and do something
Grab an empty notebook and get comfortable with sketching out quick things, map the core ideas out so you don't have to rely on memory. The writing part might take a few weeks but gathering the ideas took all the time until now.
I'm so impressed by how he always manages to just drop short of risking coming across as pretentious, which given the viral popularity of his works at such a young age is such an important thing. He's incredibly well-spoken and talks about his work in the way you'd expect from any current, well-established filmmaker or director. I can easily imagine him becoming something like the next Ari Aster in the future.
He wants to be taken seriously and professionally for his creativity, He's smart enough to understand how he needs to present himself as a young man in a functionally adult world. Good kid.
I was so happy the way he rejected that. The "canon narrative" is such an autistic concept, as if some people have more of a right to tell a story than others.
Kane’s got an admirable level of maturity, focus, artistic awareness, and integrity. Most people in his position (not even accounting for his age) would crumble. From the business side to the creative side - he’s killing it. I’m rooting for his success and artistic journey wholeheartedly.
This may be part of his process of going through the ropes of the "buisness" part of building his brand like interviews and connecting more with his audience it's pretty damn cool cause you can tell he's prepared for this
Agreed. He holds himself very well. Most people would have anxious ticks or something... Nothing from him at all. A very smart collected guy who is going to create a lot more things in the future.
What a genuine, smart, and level-headed young man. I really appreciate how he is handling his blow-up and he deserves the opportunities that have been set in front of him. I honestly do hope that, when Backrooms has run it's course as all things do, we will see many creative works of his for years to come. He's so well-spoken and thinks things through that it's hard to believe his age is what it is.
As a child, i was plagued by nightmares of being alone in nondescript rooms and hallways. It was always silent not even the sound of my footsteps would be heard. Then, all of a sudden, a deafening roar would begin and I'd run only to wake up. I would always sneak under my parent's bed at night and sleep because it terrified me so bad. So when I first saw the backrooms it really captured me.
I love his take on what's cannon and what's not. I think it allows more room for creativity and reminds the public that all of this is art, not history.
I’ve been a fan of Kane Pixels since his AOT videos back in 2020, it’s crazy how far he’s come as a creator, plus it’s insane that he’s famous at my age and created a whole new lore for the Backrooms
Although Kane Pixels isn't the actual creator of the backrooms (the actual creator is an anonymous 4chan user who posted the first ever picture and information about the backrooms on the internet) , he is deservingly up there in the backrooms and/or liminal spaces community because of his amazing work . not only did he make great backrooms videos , he also made those amazing AOT historical footage videos . Blows my mind . I hope the movie lives up to the name
That anonymous 4chan user isn't even the creator, it was something already talked about since 2004 due to the eerie feeling singleplayer gmod gave you. The concept of it being a scary place was more just a community creation due to the feelings of dread it would give you if you played by yourself too long
@@hediondo8764 im talking specifically about the level 0 of the backrooms itself , the one on the thumbnail . that one was created by the 4 chan user ,which gave way more popularity to the backrooms than ever before and which then played a role in the creation and popularization of more backrooms levels . yes you are right about the eerie feeling when playing a gmod game , it was not created by the 4chan user. its a feeling , and i know it was talked about long ago. so i know he wasnt the one who put the idea in everyones head . people already had a slight idea of it in their heads but not everyone looked at it the way the 4chan user looked at it, not everyone had the idea of it being endless or 6 million square miles long. so alot of the credit does go to the anonymous 4chan user
He also makes the music behind each Backrooms entry on his channel, I hope he does the soundtrack for the movie as well, A24 really found themselves a golden goose and I'm so happy for him
Kane is not only an artistic prodigy, but you can tell how brilliant and thoughtful he is through this interview. I feel blessed to have been following his work since before the backrooms. Cheers on the A24 partnership 🎉
Kanes Backrooms have influenced me as a 33 year old artist and that speaks VOLUMES. Ive loved this series from the beginning. In relation to the Backrooms no one comes close to Kane. He deserves all the success and recognition coming to him.
the fact that the found footage has sparked so much in the backrooms community, even to the point we get an AHS episode, is incredible. as dialuted the concept has become, you cant knock the creativity
@patrickhamos2987 sure he didn't create the backrooms but he created the entire plot of his series using elements of the backrooms lore. i'm also guessing that you also don't get a job directing an A24 film as a teenager by being a dull, lazy person
As a long-time fan of the backrooms series, seeing Kane being appreciated by Anthony just puts a smile on my face. He's come such a long way and he deserves all the recognition.
I started watching this dude when he was doing his Attack on Titan historical footage videos, and when I saw his first backrooms video come out, I knew he was on to something huge. I can't believe his growth as a creator, especially at 17! I'm so excited to see all your future works, Kane!
This dude deserves nothing but all the respect we can muster. He is a very well-bespoken guy, and I truly admire him. Watching this interview, it felt like I was listening to a 35 year old rather than an 18 year old.
Considering the work A24 has been producing in recent times. I have no doubt Kane will be able to produce an amazing film in this partnership. Godspeed Kane
Of all the people Kane could have as his first interviewer, this is probably the person who would have his back the most as a young creator reaching out for that first massive step outside the comfort zone. And Anthony seems like a genuine fan of his work.
I’m around Kanes age, seeing him prosper in the exact thing I am looking to do is extremely inspiring, thank you Kane for being such an awesome person, creating an outlet for you to express your love for filmmaking and story telling is a HUGE goal of mine, and this gives me hope.
Just keep focusing on your craft. Don’t compromise. Don’t clout chase.let ur art speak for itself. A lot of it is luck. But the longevity is the skills and passion ❤ gl
@Patrick Hamos why are you so bitter? I don’t know how old you are but the likelihood of his parents knowing anything about blender, a relatively new animation software, is seriously low. So many kids have been able to start animating and making amazing creations because of how technologically has progressed. He’s not the first and he certainly won’t be the last.
@Patrick Hamos I mean I don’t understand why it would be so unbelievable for Kane to do this stuff himself but ok. His dad doesn’t know how to do the stuff Kane does. And as for the daddy’s money, Kane used to used a laptop just a normal one and blender is free and all the other software and equipment he used probably wasn’t all that much. U don’t need a lot to make good animation, all it takes is skills
As a current 17 year old I'm both mildly jealous of Kane and mildly in love with him. He's so talented and passionate about his work and it's honestly so endearing.
You know, if you have any creative spark in you, you can pick up blender, or a free DAW or your phone camera and start creating. No one gets good without creating.
I audibly gasped when I saw you were interviewing Kane, I’ve always been fascinated with his work, like how does his brain work? He’s such a cool guy and I’m so looking forward to seeing the movie as well as more TH-cam videos
So proud of this legend as a fellow teen creator myself. I love that he proved the “do well in school and you’ll be successful” wrong. Absolute legend.
Ok, but you kind of need it to get a job, wanna bet Kane is going to college? Kane doesn’t disregard school, Ik you think school is pointless at your age, but things change when you get older@@homelander7506
Doing well in school is still a solid insurance if your creative job doesn't pan out. Dan Salvato, the guy who made DDLC, Smallant, pointcrow and some other streamers all reached higher level education so that if their current career don't work out, they still have something to fall back on. Stay in school, unless you are really confident that you alone have something valuable that absolutely nobody else in the world has, which is likely untrue.
Yeah. He seems to be the only one who really gets it out of all backrooms creators. And it's not about the technical side of his work, there are many youtubers who have shown off their artistic skills but somehow I've never felt scared by any of their pieces. This is where Kane shines and he proved it again with found footage 3.
This kid has a good outlook on creative projects that I’ve found recently in my favorite band (Sleep Token, please look them up). Just ignoring genres and labels and focusing purely on the craft of it. Existing in worlds and building on them and most importantly, just getting them out there 🙌🏻
There's always something to be admired about someone who, despite achieving massive success and praise, still stick to their guns and just create what they wants to create.
Oh my god I love this guy! So intelligent and bright and amazing at articulating his thoughts. He's had more insight about life at 17 than some people have way into adulthood. I wish I knew him as a friend.
he is so well spoken and intelligent, you just KNOW he's a creative genius. i have quickly become a huge fan of kane's work as one does when coming across his projects. they're just so well directed and produced it is insane to think he did it all on his own and at this young age, he clearly has so much to give. i cannot wait to see what the future holds for him :) very well deserved movie opt, i'm excited to watch it as well as excited for everything else he might have in the works!
My favorite details from this video are that Kane started his vision from the Backrooms because he was essentially bored and needed something to do, and found inspiration in the Backrooms concept. And as that developed, he didn't let himself conform to genres, the opinions of others or how something is made, he just lets his mind roam free. Lastly, he finds passion in his work and not in the money or fame it brings. He just likes sharing his work. We need more creatives like this in the limelight, and I'm honestly inspired to go put out some work of my own, especially being the same age as Kane.
What he says about “Youre doing the backrooms wrong!” is very true. Im pretty sure that its been recognized generally that there’s already different canons. Theres the Kane Pixels canon which is different than The Fandom Canon and or the Wikidot canon. The problem is that people think that he invented the backrooms, and that his canon is the original one when it isn’t. His canon is rly cool but I personally like the wikis more. But i understand that the general public would enjoy a video or something more visual that just text and theory. But if the original canons (fandom and wikidot) are made into something like this, it would definitely be amazing.
I watched The Oldest View - Beneath The Earth a few days ago when it came out and it's so cool that Kane can be working on a huge project like the backrooms movie and still be uploading interesting content to youtube.
Thanks for giving us a deeper look into a really cool person’s thoughts and experiences, and also thanks to Kane for being up for sharing more about it!
Great interview! One thing that stands out about his communication skills is that he hardly ever uses pauses such as “like”, “um”, “I mean”, “you know”… Very intelligent and focused.
Didn’t think I’d watch the whole 24mins but here I am. What a fun interviewer & fun insightful deep dude Kane is. Wow he’s intelligent & SHOUT-OUT TO HALF-LIFE! So good to be able to witness the next wave of greats❤

Kane is one of the most interesting content creators I’ve ever seen. I admittedly learned about him through his backrooms stuff, and I’m glad I did as it has introduced me to his channel! His series (backrooms and other), music, and passion to create is inspiring! With the way the backrooms series is executed, I’m actually excited to see Kane make this into a movie. This was a great interview!
I love The Backrooms, like no matter how many clones it gets they're all so creative it's like a hub of different rooms and each one is a person making their own, it's so freaking cool. One of my favourite creepypastas!
I'm glad he didn't cave to people complaining about the weird levels and monsters and stuff. His clean relatively underpopulated version is much more immersive and gives you a believable tension when watching that I think wouldn't be there if it was cluttered with all the weird additions of the pre-existing community version.
i hear kane talking about how he makes stories and it genuinely makes me relate so hard, it makes me feel like i, myself, can actually utilize my creative process to make the stuff i wanna make im really inspired by that
super happy to hear he got a deal with A24. He couldn't have dreamt of a better studio to take him in to start his career. I hope he still goes to film school though because he's this good now, imagine what he could do with more knowledge of the medium.
his attack on titan historical footage videos are severely underrated!! They are amazingly animated, edited, and you could already tell he had a great sense for horror
I remember watching his channel when he made the AOT videos and coming back some time later and finding out how famous his work had gotten and how big the backroom series became. I have a lot of respect for him, his level of dedication is astounding.
I remember watching his Attack On Titan videos and being really impressed, when he dropped back rooms I realized this could be one of the future great filmmakers
Damn it's cool to see someone so driven by their own passion and actually able to execute their own vision. I think a lot of people just get caught up in anxiety or logistics and think "well I'd love to do this but I'm probably not good enough, why bother" but Kane seems to have a really healthy mindset about his whole creative process. It's so important for creative people to have that level of self confidence, bc honestly that's just how you get shit done.
I use the watch Kane when he's was making the attack on Titan animation and our of nowhere he dropped the backroom video which i watch and i liked it and out of nowhere he exploded in popularity. I'm happy to see Kane become so big he has a bright future ahead of him
I love his astounding amounts of self-confidence. I don't necessarily think he's like super smart for his age (well aside from artistically, whre he's absolutely a genius), but he does have a level of self-confidence and self-understanding that I think don't tend to mix very well at his age. Like when I was 17, I probably had a similar caliber of a vocabulary, but I could not help but feel immature or childish with my thoughts. I was far less secure than I am in my 20s, and I think this is where Kane is really inspiring to me, because at the age of 17 he has already figured out his value. Truly a fascinating voice to listen to.

He has more creativity and brightness as a teen than most adults do in their day to day life
Is that surprising though ? You'd hope teenage years would be a playground c:
I mean to be fair, most writers were probably brilliant when they were young. He could be a great writer in the future!
Agreed
*Creativity is the key* 🔑
A 9 minute video where nothing happens until 8 minutes in. Pretty sure that’s not creative at all
He is so self aware, he knows and acknowledges that he doesnt know what he doesnt know. He seems so level headed for a kid! Kudos to his parents and to him. Also, Anthony is a great interviewer.
As a 48 year old man, I want this lad to have full creative control. You have to recognise genius when it rears it’s head and have the fortitude to allow it to thrive. Let’s hope.
His short video was utterly captivating and brilliantly made, I saw it a year ago and it still sits with me. Even my 16 year old son can’t believe I know about it as he’s played levels on steam when i mentioned they’re making a movie about it. He spun right out that this old fart loves it.
Check out his newest project, some of the msot incredible work ive seen
I don't know if you've seen it yet, but he recently released a new one that is 40 minutes long, and it is incredible!
Dude is smarter than 95% of the adults I’ve ever spoke to lol
Ikr ? How is he so charismatic and well spoken like damn I'm 25 and I can barely hold a convo in an interview 😭😭
@@-_XD And this is his first interview, very impressive man
Probably more than 95%, he's clearly going to be the smartest in a room of 100 randomly picked adults in nearly every case, 5 out of 100 people don't pull off stuff this impressive by his age let's be honest lmao.

Maybe if it was going to be found footage. but he said it's not.

Oh same here lol
And fcking A24 is behind it. Thats a dream come true.
Same lol, it was such a fun rabbit hole to go down back when it was just starting to get popular (before TH-cam kids got to it). Even now the forums are fun to go back to once in a while. Kane has a bright career ahead of him
The fact that a big company like A24 want to work with a 17 year old with a vision is very inspirational. It's mind blowing!
I knew he was obviously a very clever and creative young man but I didn't expect him to be so intelligent, aware, thoughtful and level-headed. It's no wonder everyone expecting great things from him for decades to come. Good job parents!
He’s so cool, I’m 16 and have so much ideas in my head that I never acted on because I don’t know where to start
He definitely inspires me to stop being lazy and do something
Ay bro, IBIS paint X is free on your phone, there's an audience for literally everything, and we got the internet for learning, go for it 👍
Grab an empty notebook and get comfortable with sketching out quick things, map the core ideas out so you don't have to rely on memory. The writing part might take a few weeks but gathering the ideas took all the time until now.
Just be patient. With patience, your ideas are more well fleshed out
But if you really want to create an idea, then write those ideas down and develop them into parts each day at any time you want.
Do it!
He's already on a24... I hope he does go on to do more, ari is one of the more fresh and creative minds in modern horror
He wants to be taken seriously and professionally for his creativity, He's smart enough to understand how he needs to present himself as a young man in a functionally adult world. Good kid.
"People are so caught up on what's canon and what's not... I don't think it matters... Everything is canon to itself." Great quote.
I was so happy the way he rejected that. The "canon narrative" is such an autistic concept, as if some people have more of a right to tell a story than others.
@@NorthernRealmJackalautistic concept? ☠️
@@NorthernRealmJackalthe Hell do you mean by "autistic concept"???
He does explain it well. Difference is Kane's version of canon is more interesting.
That's kind of what the backrooms is all about.
Kane’s got an admirable level of maturity, focus, artistic awareness, and integrity.
Most people in his position (not even accounting for his age) would crumble. From the business side to the creative side - he’s killing it. I’m rooting for his success and artistic journey wholeheartedly.
Imagine staying so calm, composed and well spoken in your first in person interview
He really doesn’t carry himself as a normal 17 year old would, he’s so mature
First time hearing his voice and he doesn't sound like he's 17 either. Not just his voice's timbre but the way he gives thoughtful answers too
This may be part of his process of going through the ropes of the "buisness" part of building his brand like interviews and connecting more with his audience it's pretty damn cool cause you can tell he's prepared for this
Agreed. He holds himself very well. Most people would have anxious ticks or something... Nothing from him at all. A very smart collected guy who is going to create a lot more things in the future.
Thank the parents... and when a kid goes sideways, blame the parents. They need more attention than they currently get.
Cause he’s smart. An artist. U can find a lot of smart people ..
Kane is the kind of person I wanna be when I grow up, and I'm older than him
I’m younger than him and same now I’m creating my own horror franchise called The Lethum Dimension he truly is a great inspiration
I don’t know if I should start filming some tapes for the Lethum Dimension and Lethum Limbo I guess I’ll give it a try 😅

Yeah i remember watching the aot found footage when it was released

Ikr, his AU is cool in itself but the direction and excecution in his videos are S tier
THE lore 😉

He deserves all the success and recognition coming to him.
the fact that the found footage has sparked so much in the backrooms community, even to the point we get an AHS episode, is incredible. as dialuted the concept has become, you cant knock the creativity
my favorite part of this interview was how clear it is that he just loves being creative and diving headfirst into new projects
he should interview gavin magnus
@patrickhamos2987 That is such a horrible take, he didn't have to have created the concept for his work to be deemed creative.
@Patrick Hamos wtf is your problem?
@Patrick Hamos Whatever it is you're trying to argue about, he's certainly done more better than you.
@patrickhamos2987 sure he didn't create the backrooms but he created the entire plot of his series using elements of the backrooms lore. i'm also guessing that you also don't get a job directing an A24 film as a teenager by being a dull, lazy person
seventeen years old with an a24 film coming out. incredible.
I love how both Anthony Padilla and Kane Pixels are quite creative with their crafts.
hearing Kane talk about his creative view
he's a mad man with drive to achieve what he wants, it's crazy and i love it

GO FOR IT!!
Of all the people Kane could have as his first interviewer, this is probably the person who would have his back the most as a young creator reaching out for that first massive step outside the comfort zone.
And Anthony seems like a genuine fan of his work.
Seems like such an intelligent and level headed dude. I love his TH-cam content. I wish him much success and happiness in his craft and in life!
Super cool that you got Kane to Interview. Love his stuff, wish him all the best!

This dude is a master at animation. Hands down.

Doing well in school is still a solid insurance if your creative job doesn't pan out. Dan Salvato, the guy who made DDLC, Smallant, pointcrow and some other streamers all reached higher level education so that if their current career don't work out, they still have something to fall back on.
Stay in school, unless you are really confident that you alone have something valuable that absolutely nobody else in the world has, which is likely untrue.
the amount of real tension that almost all his videos have is mind blowing. If this man wants you to feel uneasy, he WILL do it.

It’s good to see more people inspired by kane and not just going “he’s 17 and I’m 20 and he’s successful and I’m not??”
Wise
What he says about “Youre doing the backrooms wrong!” is very true.
Im pretty sure that its been recognized generally that there’s already different canons. Theres the Kane Pixels canon which is different than The Fandom Canon and or the Wikidot canon.
The problem is that people think that he invented the backrooms, and that his canon is the original one when it isn’t.
His canon is rly cool but I personally like the wikis more. But i understand that the general public would enjoy a video or something more visual that just text and theory. But if the original canons (fandom and wikidot) are made into something like this, it would definitely be amazing.
His wanting to focus on and getting small details just right gives me Kubrick feels. Kid's going places.

I'm happy to see Kane become so big he has a bright future ahead of him
Kane is far from what I imagined him to be, I thought he was a serious, snobbish, introverted kid, but he's actually very funny.
Yeah he seems very energetic and respectful
