I just joined lifetime and it has been excellent. The vast majority of my friends are still equinox members which has actually worked out well because we can use each other’s guest passes when we want a change of scenery. To be honest, the most important element in deciding gyms is almost always location. If you don’t live or work near a lifetime gym, you are better off with equinox, no question about it. However, if location is comparable, then I give the slightest edge to lifetime. Thank you for this excellent review. I look forward to following your channel.
LifeTime has more than shakes, their cafe is amazing, at least the one I visited at Wall Street last night. Plenty of actual food options including breakfast sandwiches. And plenty of snacks, they have a great variety. I also like the beautiful and quiet lounge areas, wine bar, and the recovery area, with massage chairs, plus the whirlpool in the locker room. Lots of awesome amenities all around. It was a tough decision since Equinox does have more locations but it’ll be cheaper at LifeTime for me and I get nice pools and can take swim lessons, which was a huge deciding factor.
Sir, you ARE the tall attractive man going into Equinox. So glad this video has introduced me to your channel and content. Great comparison, thank you!

Compared to 24hour fitness, its worth every dollars especially in SF. Every 24hour gym in San Fran is straight up dirty as FUK! After Equinox decided to move all the nicer, newer locations with pools up to Destination level, which is $300, I was so disappointed. Lifetime is a better value if you’re interested in pool access and lessons, something I think Equinox is lacking.

Hi Shervin! Have you ever visited the Lifetime Minneapolis in the Grand Hotel? I used to work there for a couple years and at the time, the "Gym Area" was awesome because it felt like a very luxurious condo/hotel lobby gym (dark wood paneling interior). The gym floor was small but I loved the feeling of that space and haven't experienced another gym like it.
You don't have to book a lot at equinox. I think that was during the pandemic in the first year or something. You just get your barcode scanned from your phone
Right now you can even check in with my iPhone and then it lights up a barcode and color when you're checked in and you can just flash it and not have to stop. It's great.
I belonged to Lifetime Fitness (single membership). it was good at first but then they raised the rates way too much. But if have a family (with dual income or one parent with a high income), I think its a good deal, will have access to pools year round (indoor/outdoor), classes. enough equpiment so you don't have to wait to use machines. It was very clean and spacious, including the locker rooms. I belonged to a hotel gym for a few years that was ok, but the locker room was trash and too small (you would have other members bumping into you while changing, fighting for bench space).
Shervin! Thanks for this thorough review. I'm going to be joining Life Time and really hope your referral works! And hope to bump into you there at some point :D

Thank you for this video, I actually have an interview to work for lifetime and I have thought about this decision for a very long time! I live in Oklahoma and there is another gym that is in Tulsa here called Genesis, and it looks amazing as well. I can't wait to test the waters with lifetime, I've heard nothing but good things about what the business stand by.
I always wanted to join Lifetime Fitness but, its not near me and there's limited locations as well. Equinox is much worse and the equipment is damaged. I might have to make the drive and join Lifetime.
How Equinox wants $2,500 a year and only open on weekdays is beyond my comprehension. I dare you to find one gym in the New York area that isn't packed with treadmills and dance lessons wall to wall. Some of us actually want to workout... EVERYTHING DOESN'T HAVE TO BE A STRIP MALL!
@@ShervinShares Yes I think the midtown ones are closed on the weekends. I do have to 1 gripe about the hrs that the non-upper side ones open at 8am on weekends, and that's really annoying. Wish they opened at 7am at least.
I'm a member of both with an executive membership at Equinox. You showed two of the locations that I go to. LifeTime is next door to me and Equinox (by my job) is activated for no reason since we are still working from home. To me Equinox = Country club luxury. LifeTime = A 5-star hotel gym. Convenience is important but Equinox's equipment is superior IMO. LifeTime has flies in the summer + broken machines, limited machines and machines that can't be adjusted for my height. Re. gyms in general, I've gotten used to waking up later and working out at home. I don't need to get undressed/dressed/travel and for that, I may quit Equinox. Plus swimming at Equinox requires sharing a lane with people vs. reserving one lane per person at LifeTime. However it's limited to one hour at LT, which frankly sucks. BTW, in the Equinox exec locker rooms there are saunas.
I agree. I haven't visited a Lifetime. Equinox is only gym where I can spend over 1 hr running (during the winter cold and summer heat) and no one bothers me and there is never a wait for a cardio machine. I do need to use the strength machines more and I do agree that they dont have enough squat racks and leg presses but I do like how they have so many treadmills. Life times seem very large so thats prolly why they have more but there is less than 8 in Manhattan. I exercise when it's least crowded but I heard there is never a time limit on cardio machines. that's all i care about really.
I live next to Equinox in Connecticut. I worked out there for awhile.. I mean I felt literally good working out. I felt like I could breathe, the people were perfect... then I switched gyms fora bit and I swear to you I didn't feel perfect anymore LOL.. just something about the gym in general LOL
There is a sauna in women's locker room at Hudson Yards and at Columbus Circle. I joined HY for the sauna and I never use it, steam room and saunas have the same effect, I researched online
Lifetime is the best by far! Love the Sky Manhattan and Westchester location. Equinox is small, packed, more expensive, not as clean, not that much amenities even at the Hudson yard location, they trap u in a contract for a whole year also they’re not that luxurious in my opinion. I work in Nomad so I did see the Lifetime open up and it looks huge but... I love how E's everywhere in Manhattan. I can even check into to E 63rd or W76 before a nyrr race on the weekend *they open at 7am, race starts at 8am normally. It's just the best feeling not to leave your stuff at the race start and at a secure locker. Also I know from NJ ppl that Lifetime is a big family gym and I don't want to work out near kids or be in a pool near kids. Sorry that is just my lifestyle and very very happy that Equinox enforces an 18 and over policy. If Lifetime forsakes it's kids being everywhere, then I may take a tour but until then no thanks. Also E design of their locker rooms and their facilities are beautiful. Lifetime looks like like a glorified HRC. I also believe E has a better trainer education policy than any other gym. I heard Lifetime doesn't have the same quality. It's expensive, but you pay for what you get. As Lifetime adds more NYC gyms it's membership price will be more trust me. For 30+ gyms, they are opening a Nomad E to make that the 4th gym in the neighborhood alone, the price seems pretty good. If you do classes, the unlimited classes, they have real barre they own Soulcycle so the cycling is comparable. You need to compare the fitness classes. I mean their unlimited fitness classes is worth at least 100 a month! And you don't need to do PT if you just do the strength group classes.

I doubt the kids are working out with the adults. I just visited three locations in NYC in the last two days and didn’t see any potential issues. What was your experience?
@@vonettadevo I've never been to Lifetime but I have been to hotel gyms with kids and really annoying beyond belief.I thought it would be like that. Prior to Covid, most Lifetime locations were 24hrs/7 days a week. Now in 2023, Lifetime still isn't 24hrs and they continue reduce club hours while still charging me the same rate. Probably time to cancel my Diamond membership.
At around $120 for the Crunch Signature memberships (Crunch's highest tier) they are a really good value. A little more crowded on the equipment floor, but everything you need and nothing you don't.

Hmmm interesting! I wish all “Destination” locations had Dry Saunas & not just Sports Clubs. Since only 1 sports club exists per city
@@ShervinShares so Shervin, they have a sauna in the women's locker room at E-HY. I wanna say they tend not to have saunas for men cuz they have problems (I heard) with men fraternizing. Same at Equinox CC, they have one in the women's room. I feel like they skip the men's LOL. At least with the steam room it's foggy in there to do much!
Great video!
Thanks! what do you want to see next? another gym?
Great video, certainly joining lifetime
Awesome Video 🌟
Thank you! What do you want to see next?
@@ShervinShares I already enjoy your content just how it is!
Maybe you could do a review of a lower budget gym (like plantet fitness) just a suggestion
Keep up the amazing work 💫
Why 80-90% men? I noticed that same thing at Lifetime 23rd st, which is my local club. Having more women around would be inspiring, at least to me.
Hudson yards equinox have sauna. Its in the locker room
Not for men
Only for women
First video ever watched from you and loved it!
Do you know how I can get some sort of guest pass or like a trial period for Equinox? I’m so curious about that gym. I’m in LA❤.
New sub🎉
2 years later, Life Time still hasn't cranked up their saunas!!
Lol. I was actually a supervisor at lifetime fitness. I never worried about cost because I had a free membership for myself and my children!! I no longer work there, so I'm looking at the cost like WTF. lol. Everyone loves the BB shakes.
ahhh that free membership life
Awesome video
Equinox is bae
BAE
In a nutshell, Equinox with its limited equipment is for being seen, and Life Time is for serious lifters.
Lifetime has less than 8 locations, easy to put a sauna in each one. LOL, Main reason I won't ever join Lifetime is the kids. I love how Equinox makes it over 18. If I wanted kids around me I would procreate or hang around my relatives' kids.
I was a member of NYSC when i first started out. got a corporate discount to Equinox and never looked back 21 years meber of Equinox and counting. they have 35 clubs in NYC and I don't know to swim or use the pool. So I don't really need Lifetime. I am in the NOMAD aera and they are building a 4thgym in that area (Flatiron, Park Av, Gram then now Nomad). I have no reason to even look at the Lifetime on PAS.
@@maysjiang I get it. I would find a bunch of unruly kids annoying as well. It wasn’t an issue at Lifetime the times I visited but I am actually keeping my Equinox membership bc I love all the locations and classes they offer. My experience trying out Lifetime was fine but Equinox wins out for me. If I want to use the pool, I have two locations that will actually work fine. Checked out E. 61st yesterday and it suits my needs. I can swim but doing laps isn’t really my thing. I am excited about the NoMad location, the newer clubs are always incredibly nice.
Awesome video 🫶
Thanks 😁
Hey
Can you tell me the source for hot cold therapy and huberman Sauna study? I experienced that in a school gym but was never able to replicate it in commercial gym but would be interested in how a sauna helps to improve longevity.
I would check out his Huberman Lab podcast on Sauna & Ice Baths. They have the links in there!
Will you still get the referral if it’s not in nyc ?
yes
@@ShervinShares I just used you as a referral.... you owe me dinner lol
HI Friend. We can't reach you by email. The prompt is wrong. We would like to invite you to participate in the Slevio Timer test. How can we reach you? Thank you very much
sorry not sure
There is a lifetime in Irvine lakeshore now
I know!! I want to try it now
thanks for sharing how it looks inside the gym and i always wanted to see whats inside the gym on hudson yard but they wont let me because they want to check if i have my health card which i feel is wrong for them to do that and working out in the gym should be for everyone who want stay healthy regardless whether they took the thing or not
Equinox requires Vax pass?
Guy was right. I’m not going to a Yoga class if it’s full of men. Hell Naww
Which gym had the rock climbing???
Equinox Sports Club NYC!
@@ShervinShares great thank you! Awesome video
Lifetime has it too
Life Time for me, Equinox too pretentious in most locations. LT is all inclusive for all walks of life.
Do you still think the equinox at Greenwich has the hottest guys after these six months ?
💯 yes
@@ShervinShares thanks !!! 🔥 🔥 🔥
What about prices???
Their prices change all the time! That’s why I didn’t talk about it
Me, a financially irresponsible Life Time member feeling very attacked. p.s. The newer Dumbo location is the best Lifetime in NYC. 8 squat racks!
i need to check out dumbo!
how is parking different?
Prior to Covid, most Lifetime locations were 24hrs/7 days a week. Now in 2023, Lifetime still isn't 24hrs and they continue reduce club hours while still charging me the same rate. Probably time to cancel my Diamond membership.
interesting! I didn't know that!
"Esss-oh-tear-rick"
Not whatever you said lol
I don’t know English
this guy is 100% Indian actor amir khan. I thought it was actually him.
lol but seriously Crunch fitness is the best overall gym in NYC. It's a weightlifters gym
At around $120 for the Crunch Signature memberships (Crunch's highest tier) they are a really good value. A little more crowded on the equipment floor, but everything you need and nothing you don't.
WDYMM HOW MANY TIMES ARE U GONNA GO TO PHOENIX ARIZONA
tbh no idea
@@ShervinShares I was hurt as an Arizona native lol
Don't see future fit link
Here you go! Future Personal Trainer (affiliate link): futurefitness.pxf.io/shervin
Lifetime has better class schedules IMO. I really like their heated yoga.
8:35 is this guy seriously doing a gym comparison review whilst eating ben & jerry's chocolate chunk ice cream? lol
i do it for the comments & irony ;)
@@ShervinShares only thing that would make it even better is sprinkling verbal commentary about calories burnt throughout the review :)
as for substance, I can attest that Equinox aspects e.g. size/equip throughout Manhattan varies.. multiple location is a major plus for the NYC professional class
500 $ month?
$250-350 per month
How can we get day passes?
To my knowledge you have to have a member guest you in
With LifeTime, you can get a day pass here in Canada for $50.
@@jahnome Same here in NYC
SoapBox is a great brand FYI
For Laundry? I'll have to check them out!
@@ShervinShares LifeTime uses the SoapBox brand soaps you referenced in your video. They are using a mass produced version but the consumer hand soaps etc are awesome!
@@cwp86 oooooohhh!! Thank you! I googled "soapbox nyc" & laundry came up haha. I'll check the actual soap website
You are complaining for the check in your like 35 act your age
The amenities seem really nice but luxury gyms have always kinda rubbed me as emasculate.
Nope. I’ll pass. Got ripped up at Planet Fitness for only $22 a month.
Dude is super creppy my god knock of key ,& peele situation going on here dirty
This man starts eating ice cream midway lol
I hate lifetime with a deep passion.
Why?
Just bought a lifetime membership I didn’t know it was legit 1 location… doesn’t even make sense that I couldn’t go to other locations although I’m paying $70+
Yeah, why? Details would be good.
You’re so cute 😅
What kind of gym closes before 9 p.m...good grief
lololol on weekends... i know
