One of the most enjoyable videos I've watched in a long time.
Im new to Everton (from the US) and wanted to brush up my knowledge of this Derby. It seems like to me this is a rivalry who just dislike each other only when playing on gameday. Like someone else said, they have to live, work and commute with these people everyday they cannot say they hate the fans of the other team. That could be a good friend or coworker of them. This is a rivalry in one city, not two different cities battling it out.
Seems like the two tragic events also brought the teams/fans closer as timed moved on.

During the 2013/14 BPL season, as an Everton fan I found myself starting to like Liverpool. As a football fan it's always good to see intelligent, fast, suave football and that's exactly what Liverpool produced. It's unfortunate that Liverpool didn't win the league and in my case even more unfortunate that Everton didn't qualify for the Champions League. Hopefully the two sides will be stronger next season and of course Everton win the league. :)

Derby Day copa 90, please try to do a Kolkata Derby between East Bengal and Mohan Bagan, its a game which attracts more than 90,000 fans to the stadium in a cricket mad country. The fanatism has even lead to murders between groups of fans. It is known as one of the biggest intra city rivalries. I am sure you won't be disappointed

What is not always mentioned at Heysel..it was falling apart...the Italians tried to push Liverpool in the corner..Who on earth puts them in the same end in a crumbling arena...Liverpool then charged and unfortunately 39 fans lost their lives...it should never should have been held in a stadium that was not fit for a huge football game.

If you're a proper Liverpool fan, you'd be much happier with a win against the blueshite so you get the bragging rights and there is no real hostility, just passion. My brother is a hardcore Liverpool fan.
I told him the movie Creed has an Everton fan getting punched in the face repeatedly at Goodison Park. Didn't say anything else about the movie, not a word about the plot or the actors or anything. Just that the finale takes place in Goodison Park and that the actor who plays the bad guy in the final fight is an Everton supporter IRL.
He went and saw the movie the next weekend on that alone.

You have to go to the most underrated derby in europe! Djurgården - AIK in Stockholm, Sweden. Make sure to go to Djurgårdens home ground Tele2 Arena though, way better atmosphere there

Mr Blue Liverpool has a stronger regional identity than a lot of cities even in the north. Mainly because of the lingering celtic influence on the insular culture and its people. And also partly because of the growing Estuary english culture rising from the south. The humours subjective I suppose most people who tell a funny joke tend to sound just as funny no matter where they’re from. As for the music Liverpool spawned arguably the most influential band of all time, so it’s somewhat understandable why locals will brag about their musical heritage over ZZ tops hometown, just saying.
You should go to Portland or Seattle for the Cascada Derby it has the two cities that love football/soccer the most in the USA with Seattle averaging in 50,000 in attendance and Portland with 30,000 and it is the best derby in the MLS
It's a shame that once the film went to the game itself it became only about one of the clubs and not both.

It's a total myth that the fans sit together. This was banned by both clubs about 5 years ago. If anyone does it now, they get hauled out. As it is, if the fans around them spot them, it all kicks off.
