Yeah. As a Berliner, I'd say it was quite to the point and accurate. The quality is comparable to the huge budget documentaries on Netflix. One note for that English Berliner though: even though he looked very self-assured, Döner Kebap wasn't invented in Berlin. Döner has been made in Turkey for centuries and Kebap is like the general name for the Turkish dishes. What was invented in Berlin is putting the Döner in bread only, which was an invention to adapt to the hectic city life in which people don't have much time to eat or just eat "on the way - Unterwegs". This coming from a Turk, who has made quite some research on the subject :D
@@tolga9388 I agree with your reference to the quality being similar to a Netflix documentary. But a documentary about football doesn't need all that Netflix money thrown at it. It just needs passionate fans who know their history to speak as part of it.

Derby Days are some of the best docs on TH-cam, but this one just raised the bar to unbelievable heights. This is absolutely world class stuff and should have every kind of award thrown after it! I'm sad to see that the younger supporters are leaning into a hateful rivalry rather than a friendly one, because there is already so much tension and hate in football. Just imagine how beautiful it could've been if both Herta and Union stayed up in the Bundesliga with a friendly rivalry where they met as friends, despite being in a city that has been divided for so many decades!
I don't hate Union. I'm 50. I'm somewhere in the middle of it. I had good chats with a bit of back and forth friendly banter with Union Fans ( the only unsympathetic fans were some of the younger fans online and a young female fan in the S-Bahn who acted like Herthafans were worthless peasants and Union is a superior Club who looks down on Hertha (that was in a time where both clubs played 1.Liga). And both clubs had to deal with problems. Union in the GDR as the red headed stepchild of the GDR and being held down by Stasi General (?) Erich Mielke in favor of his favorite club BFC Dynamo, Hertha in recent years for being the Big City Club and having an Investor. Sometimes it was just outright unfair being labeled as the Great Big Bad and Union as the lily white hero when it wasn't all black and white, rather grey. That's the reason why I don't hate Union, but I'm also not totally fond of them.
A lot of the similar lines are probably very shoehorned in. They probably had leading questions that were edited out to get similar answers . I'm not saying it's a bad thing. It's just good documentary rules. But not every interview is going to be unscripted.
As an expat living in Berlin, this documentary gave me an awesome overview of my city. And I don't mean a mere football overview, but a complete one. There's history, there's culture, there's football, there's everything. Marvelous.
Eli, I've been a fan since Red Star v Partizan. You outdo yourself each time. Dude. I'm not even into football just got fed this by the algorithm, this is legit one of the best original videos I've seen on youtube. fucking good work to everyone that worked on this.
Now this video I can hardly wait for. I am starting to take much more notice of Union Berlin cause they seem like they have a soul still despite being in top flight football. And that is just so rare to see in these days.
Thats why so much people in Berlin doesnt like Union. Union wants to present theirselves as a unique club, as a "workersclub". So many people find it so annoying
@@snssssns409 See that statement is not really true. It's mostly the media portraying us that way. We don't care about that though, we just wanna support our team and enjoy good football.
Thats the reason why Union is so hated. They always betray themselves to be this "cool and alternative" club. And they can't stop talking about how they build their own stadium for example even though 99% who brag about it didn't do anything. When Union were in the second/ third league they weren't special at all. Hertha is the real club in Berlin.
There's a lot to be mad about youtube and google these days but then you find channels and videos like these and you just have to be grateful. This has made my day. Thank you!

From a Berliner born in West-berlin, now living in (former) East-berlin: This is probably the most accurate documentary about Berlin football, culture and lifestyle ive ever watched. I dont agree with all of the points but at least with 80%. Why did a german not think of doing sth like this? I mean how can a foreigner make the most accurate documentary about my hometown? :D :D :D Respect, Londonman!
At 40:00 I finally realised it wasn't a normal 20 minutes derby days video, and it felt as a 5 minutes clip. It is the best derby days video. Instructive, complex, awesome. Now I know Berlin's history and culture better than with National Geographic. And what a game it was!!! Your best video, really brilliant. Please continue with derby days!
This episode was great, the history part of Berlin was most interesting to me as I've only heard of it fromn teachers. But to actually hear from the citizens of Berlin was just special. I've been watching Union in the Bundesliga this season and they are actually quite a team to watch. Respect to Copa 90 as once again made a very great episode of Derby Days.

as a berliner born and raised. I have to no ... i must say this documentery is so f****ng damn good! thank you so much for the effort to show my beautiful city and club
This is what a build up is like, the pace of this Derby Days is incredible you go from the Football diversity in Berlin to its history and building slowly back by adding Football relatet History events. And then go back to the Derby. And Eli really builds the emotions up and the needs to watch it till the end. Just wow! Much Love for all Contributers to this great Documentary.
I watched this one in PE theory class(of course in a shool near Berlin), and came here to finish watching, and i have to say, that the chanel is the one, i never knew i needed!
This is fantastic. Real football, unlike the sanitised version you see elsewhere, passion, true passion, true Berlin. The soundtrack really captures Berlin also.
What an incredible introduction of Berlin. The first five minutes is such an intensive description of Berlin. I was born in Berlin and i am living here over than 30 years now. I never felt so proud to be a part and a resident of this city. Really great job. I watched "İstanbul United" before and i think i will watch much more of your clips. Keep going.
nearly 4 years later and i still love this video although the game at the end doesnt look good as a herthaner😅 i really need a second part of this when the new stadiums of hertha and union are finally build. this will take this rivalry to another level!!! greetings from the blue white berlin 44
More than 3 years later we don't have a Berlin derby anymore... but this time Union is playing in the CL while Hertha was relegated... unbelievable! xD
First of all thanks for this amazing episode. Couldnt wait for it. It'll be interesting to see how the berlin derby develops in the nearer future. As a 'younger' supporter of Hertha i still find Union a sympathetic club mostly because of our shared history. I hope that anger and hatred will not become the dominant forces in the upcoming matchups. But unfortunately the development goes straight into it. We'll see how it works out... HaHoHe 💙⚪
Thank you for portraying Berlin as it is.. Also, cool stuff that you have mention my fave club too. We had a short quick talk at the Jahnsportpark when BFC Dynamo played. Thank you were there. Well maybe in some years we can see the next Derby Days Berlin... but then with the real Berlin Derby - BFC Dynamo vs. Union Berlin- .. But these are dreams.. Awesome video and details about every club in Berlin, also the editing was amazing. Good Stuff! Sport Frei !
Would be a shame for Derby Days today. Before 40 years yes, but today it would be 800 BFC Dynamo (many of them fucking old Nazis) and 3000 Unioners+The other new"unioners" from now (fucking Hipsters). Hertha is the real thing.
@@eisbeere3005 this is not all true... Im also a Ultra of BFC Dynamo. Dynamo Just missed to do the right things Like Union did. I hate Union but respect their work. Now they earn the Money they spend in the past years. Also the ultrascene of Union hates that so many Hipster Join the Stadium, they want to be still a Berlin Club, nothing Else. Also that Shit rumor that BFC DYNAMO is right winged is not anymore Like in the late 90s . In the 80s Punks, Skins , Hools and whatever stood Side by Side for the Club BFC Dynamo. Saying now , they are only Nazis is false. I'm not a Nazi and a Lot of my Friends arent. We are sick of hearing it, Same for that Stasishit. Yes we were the Club formed by Stasi but its 2020 soon, we are a free financial Club in the 4th Division. We Made mistakes , starting from 7th again and made it Back to the 4th League. And if, If some day we make it maybe into the 3rd everyone is fine with that. Because noone had this Big Fall Like we had. 10 Times Champ were lost in the nowhere and climb Back Up. Honestly possibly the best series on the entire platform. The production on every episode is fantastic and every time this show manages to create such an immense feeling. In awe of it. Thank you Eli and Tino!
Class again from Copa 90
When are we going to see the south Wales derby though
reckon next year
Who’s that?
Big pp Cardiff vs Swansea

I am Salvadoran American with family from Berlin, a El Salvador. This game is actually followed in our small town Founded by Germans 100 years ago.
I’m currently signed ill off work, and this is the perfect mix of football, history, culture, and IMMACULATE filmmaking I needed to help me through. Thank you guys! Subscribed, and can’t wait to watch more.
Was waiting for this. It's finally here!
This is not just a documentary. This is fucking ART!
Dude. I'm not even into football just got fed this by the algorithm, this is legit one of the best original videos I've seen on youtube. fucking good work to everyone that worked on this.
This is one of the best videos of I’ve ever seen about football, but even more so about Berlin. Beautifully done, host/creators/producers!
JakeStanleyTravel Union is still the number one in Berlin ;)
@@Uhrensohn289 Union (Köpenick) doesnt count to Berlin. Köpenick is part of Brandenburg
And I thought I will lose my interest after the superclassico😂😂 brilliant job
The past two episodes really have gone up a notch video wise. Well done guys 👍
There's a lot to be mad about youtube and google these days but then you find channels and videos like these and you just have to be grateful. This has made my day. Thank you!
Spent the last 12 weeks going through each derby days episode and have to say that they are utterly superb, i would love to see more in East Germany, England, Italy and Netherlands once football for fans returns. Keep up the great work these have got me through lockdown.
I really never comment on videos. But this video, the editing, the music is just perfect!!
Guys i dont write comments ,but that was one of the best episodes you ever make ,great job to find this people who give the interview, they was really on point and give as perfect picture, also to talk about culture and history really dive you in and make you think about it and even you start wonder which team you will support ,awesome. Cheers to everyone involved.
An incredible video perfectly portraying how how a city such as Berlin is steeped in football and history in a beautiful / crazy symbiotic way, I love these videos man!
Hard to believe that this was made for TH-cam and not a major television broadcast... Just wow. Taking TH-cam documentaries to a new level! Thank you for this experience!
As someone who has only really gotten into football in the last year or so, i am honestly in awe of the production valu here! Bravo Copa90, you guys and girls have honestly created a great channel!
The camera work in the Derby Days episodes is just amazing.
This is better than anything on TV right now
It's so sad that Bayern did play at this stadium but in front of no fans. That must've been heart breaking.
My god, what an amazing content! 49 minutes of pure pleasure. Much love for all you guys creating these masterpieces again and again.
Also can't wait for you to go out and make some stuff on our Moscow derby stories.
thanks for showing us Berliner football culture ! I had no clue of all these clubs, history and culture ! That's awesome that's real football :)
cheers from Paris
I just came to see how the first Berlin derby came along and what i received was a full documentary and historical explanation of the city and how a rivalry was born. I totally LOVED IT! What an amazing video!
This guy is hell of a journalist. I am from Argentina and I love his documentaries. I would like to have sport journalists like him in my country, instead of the idiots we have.
i am a hertha fan,iam from berlin, but i live almoust all my life in brasil, argentinna, best football country in the world,
@@ronnyleipold434 journalists are bad though
Fun Fact: the Rapper representing Hertha narrated the german version of FIFA Street
I think FIFA street 02 (?)
this documentary makes me want to emigrate to berlin. Two clubs with such diverse cultures, yet they still try to be neighbors. Top notch work, and really, i have watched this documentary over 5 times and still get goosebumps at how they love their city, and their clubs. Union stadium has to be on my bucket list.
wait until herthas new stadium is build. then the rivaly is on another level
@@kid_korrith will that be completed when the airport is completed as well? Lol

7:30 "If you define culture (as) being about success and being about titles and being about numbers and industry, fuck off" WELL SAID THAT MAN
My team won nothing in my lifetime my dad's lifetime and grandpa lifetime. But we still love our Club
My German friend sent me here, and I am very glad he did. Very interesting subject made even more so by the people involved in the discussion. Some great writers and pundits involved. Love it.
as a berliner born and raised.
Awesome documentary. I moved to Berlin almost a year ago. I love the atmosphere here and going to matches.
A completely brilliant video, so much more in depth and nuanced than I anticipated
I watched this one in PE theory class(of course in a shool near Berlin), and came here to finish watching, and i have to say, that the chanel is the one, i never knew i needed!
honestly the edits you guys do for these derby days is incredible, keep it up, it's so intresting, not just because of the football...
This is one of the most interesting videos I’ve seen on TH-cam in a long time, excellent work all involved.
This is fantastic. Real football, unlike the sanitised version you see elsewhere, passion, true passion, true Berlin.
The soundtrack really captures Berlin also.
2/2 didn’t think they could have a documentary better than the Hampshire derby . 10/10 again by copa 90 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾.
Keep going.
nearly 4 years later and i still love this video although the game at the end doesnt look good as a herthaner😅
i really need a second part of this when the new stadiums of hertha and union are finally build. this will take this rivalry to another level!!!
greetings from the blue white berlin 44
More than 3 years later we don't have a Berlin derby anymore... but this time Union is playing in the CL while Hertha was relegated... unbelievable! xD
The quality is through the roof! Great job guys
HaHoHe 💙⚪
this docu is probably one of the most entertaining ones ive ever seen. great work.
I live in Berlin and this documentary really Shows whats Berlin about...nice one
Congratulations Eli this is the best Derby Days you have ever done. Brilliant from start to finish.
We are a small normal Club who wants Just See Football of BFC!
This is absolutely amazing. Thank you for putting this out
Stopped by as per recommendation from Joe at Tifo before watching his conversation with Eli and Martino. Absolutely brilliant. Looking forward to viewing more of these stories.
I'm binge watching every one of these . So far they have all been awesome!
