    You are very good at this bro. Im have this guy come to replace a crack rafter on the valley of my front door. I will ask him to put on the roof cement under the flashing to prevent leaking against the wall

    Good work like how you work only thing I would’ve done different is leave a 4-5” gap those tiles are way to close to the wall along the cricket/dead valley

    Hey Eric, I enjoy your videos very much. I have a quick question. I am doing a Tile Reset on a section of my house. The roof is 4 1/2 to 12 pitch. The tiles are S-shaped concrete tiles. I am going to use Titanium UDL-50 double layer and Titanium PSU-30 in the valley....I am in Hemet, CA. Not as humid as Huntington Beach, but a little hotter and dry. The question is: Is UDL-50 a and PSU-30 a good choice?....Thank you for your answer and time.

    I’m about to re-lay on my house . 38 year old paper . Thanks for the tile videos keep them coming .
    What’s the guideline for roofing nail pattern in general? I’ve read through the TRI guide and it doesn’t say specifically.

      You don't have to nail every tile unless you live in hurricane area and B/C requires it. A 2.5'' roofing nail would be fine. Do the first three rows and then every other/third row. Check with your building inspector before taking my advice. I live in DFW and tile roofs up here are mostly just hung on battens, but in Houston they're all fastened with ring shanks or hung with wire in the vulnerable areas where you have a lot of water. Feel free to nail them all in just know that the more nails you put in the roof the more of a PITA the repair will be when you get broken tiles.

    Great videos! Question: why not just remove and replace the vertical sidewall flashing (tile pan) at 7:20? It makes it way easier to run the felt up the roof as far possible.

      It would be easier maybe he's not replacing that metal so maybe he doesn't want to damage it by removing it so he's working around it that's my only guess you could use the sticky ice guard underneath than lay the metal on top that would stop all leaks and way easier

    Shouldn't you be using a Peel and Stick product like Grace Ice and Water shield as a base layer under the head wall flashing to seal it off and prevent leaking in those areas?

  • @roodypazoo5216

    Eric I’m at the start of doing this . Do u put mastic over the drip edge to seal the first half roll of #30 to the edge metal ???
    Can you use “shake” underlayment that is 18” wide and also 30# for the first half roll of underlayment??? It’s already cut to size .

    Eric, thank you for the education, have a question, on a 2 -1/2" pitch roof should I use peel and stick underlayment? I have 3 in polyiso underneath sheating on an open ceiling. Im worried about roof being able to breathe

    • @Garciasroofing
      @Garciasroofing  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In California the codes says...the minimum requirement for shingles is 3/12...tile 3/12 with double felt...i think it should be done with a build up system like: hot mop. Cold App. Torch down or single ply

    • @Garciasroofing
      @Garciasroofing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can install tiles or shingles but using a peel and stick underlayment and 1 layer of 30 lbs felt on top to be able to ventilate the peel and stick ...never install shingles or tile directly over peel and stick ...unless suggested by the manufacturer

    Hi Eric. Thanks for posting all these videos. I'm about to install concrete tiles on my garage and wanted to ask you a few questions. 1. Is Warrior Roofing a good brand for the #30 underlayment?2. Do the battens have to the treated or can I just use regular douglas fir 1x2 strips?I live in Hesperia. Just incase you need to know. Thanks again.

    • @Garciasroofing
      @Garciasroofing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No

    • @1EVILC6
      @1EVILC6 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is that a no to both questions?

    • @Garciasroofing
      @Garciasroofing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry ...i didnt reply the "no"
      1: use 2 layers of 30 lbs felt under the tiles.
      2: DO NOT. Use batten...2x2 wood strips unless the roof is more than 5/12 slope. If you use them...cut them in 4 ft long and leave a 2 inch space in between the battens...use electro galvanized nails to hold the wood strips .
      DO NOT USE SYNTHETIC UNDERLAYMENT...is garbage

    Why I break tiles while walking on them?

    • @Garciasroofing
      @Garciasroofing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably because they are light weight tiles ...these tiles were standard weight tile and they are rock solid ...very walkable. Also try to walk over the end lap of tiles when walking on tiles
      ..never over the hollow center of the tile...thanks for watching!
