I am a huge believer in bog filters in both my ponds and my aquariums. I have the same boxes with the useless clips and suction cups... What you built is absolutely awesome. I might try that when I finish my indoor pond... Really enjoyed your video. I subscribed
Thanks for the kind words! Let's hope it makes a huge difference with nitrates. It sure is nice to look at, at the minimum. It was actually super easy to build with polycarbonate because the glue dries so quick. Not a lot of setup needed to put it together.
Oh man! You're actually a builder & creator which really helps out in the hobby. I couldn't cut a straight line to save my life. This bog box ought to work out pretty well. It should help to reduce the amount of water changes imo. Great job! 🙂👍
Oh you had large clips? Mine only came with tiny clips and suction cups. I might have never made this box if the black baskets hadn't fallen 1 too many times
Very nice. Any reason you didn't drill holes in the bottom? I'd doubt it really matters. Just curious. I got some of those little black holders you were using. I have a thicker rimmed tank than yours but mine came with four or five different sizes of clips so they fit fine. Thankfully. I used some spare media in mine to support the plants (Pothos and Peace Lilies). Eheim Substrat Pro, Matrix and Maxspect Spheres. Anyway your DIY version is very good.
Nice, I might have accidentally bought baskets for too small of a tank. My thinking was to keep a bit of water in the box when doing water changes. Sometimes my tanks are at 20% water level for an hour or so and didn't want roots to dry out. It's all a bit of an experiment lol
@@readysetgofish I don't think it matters as the roots will be feeding via the water in the aquarium. I just used filter media to support the plants. I could be wrong though!!

Thank you! Being a builder is mostly about having the right tools (and TH-cam) in my experience. Appreciate the comment
I actually have those black plant baskets. I had to use the large clips. But I had to sand down the little tabs on the boxes to get them to fit.

I cut off those tabs too. Not sure what they're even there for
which flexible lights do you have near the plants and where from?

Ill bet higher quality substrate is better than leca. I chose leca because my neighbor offered me a bunch of his leftover.

I wonder if it needs more holes or if that’s perfect
I wonder too but got tired of drilling lol. Ya think it does?
