I was laying in bed about to go to sleep without practicing today. This video made me get up an go practice for an hour....now I'm back to watch the rest. Thanks for the motivation and jam track tip!
"That's what I've been doing all my life, it get it to feel good. Now I'm trying to make it sound good". That exactly describes my guitar journey. I spent so much time in the feel good space and not enough time is learning new techniques space.
So much BB King influence in John's blues playing, with the focus on making each note count and expressing each note to the fullest rather than playing tons of notes
Hmmm, I would have bet my guitar that the C# shuffle was actually a shuffle in D flat!! It is indeed a very fine line between Geniuses & Stupid!?! Haha!
John definitely knows about 'swamp blues' because during that video on YT that shows Dead and Co rehearsing Easy Wind. There's a moment where he describes the change in style (on a chord change) as 'swamp'.
I’ll be honest, that swamp blues lead could’ve passed for a slide guitar if I wasn’t watching lol. Very cool. Has John ever mentioned trying a G-bender/B-bender? I feel like he’d have fun with that.
how you see this scale in your mind, amazing, im still shooting pentatonic scale, and think that i'm some kind of Michael Jordan.. but this video make me realize that im more of a Muggsy Bogues.
Of course I’m not accusing you of being an Albert Collins knock off because obviously you have been influenced by a number of cats but that seemed like something you got excited about Because like Albert Collins or any of the greats that motif was timeless. Although I feel like I’ve heard it, I’m pretty sure I have not. I’ve been screwing around with that motif all night and coming up with some cool thematic development off of what you came up with. I apologize but I have to incorporate that little gem into my improvisation ( or ripoffisation). It’s just too much fun.
7.25 not for the every guy. Specially if you play Gibson's as well and your Luthier says that's the low as I can get and still fucking buzzes through the AMP!🤣

Jon Galloway haha same 😂
Dude haha same
Jon Galloway it was 3am😂
Awesome! I love that he needs multiple attempts sometimes like the rest of us.
I love to see that after all these years John still has his favorite boxes and shapes. And hell yeah… they do feel good! Play for yourself!
That tone is almost like Albert King’s Live Wire/Blues Power tone
He certainly sounds like he's been listening to Albert King
Hard to play a rhumba blues and not sound (at least a little) like Albert King.
It also sounds like Clapton in Cream

JM, always a master at promoting his influences. A true blues mang. Just keep doing this Johnny. and Thank you.
I slept very soundly and deep last night so I missed this. Thank you, "eventually you tube."
I come back to this video every now and then and I am blown away every time!!
Love that he "goes back to get it".
I could listen to him play all day 🎸🎶

Albert and BB....lovin those licks!
John always plays exactly what I had in my head that I couldn’t execute, but of course he nails it even better than my imagination can Lol
Love how you can see the look on his face when he really likes something he plays
Hmmm, I would have bet my guitar that the C# shuffle was actually a shuffle in D flat!!

That look he gave at 14:59 😂 he knows he just nailed that lick so fire 🤣🔥🔥💪🏼
Sick Albert Collins style licks in the Rumba. You had that ice picking motif (killer)!

I'd love you to play with another artist on NPR tiny desk concerts! 💕
“How far out can I take this thang?” Feels like ya know.. that Albert King. It’s wild herring the influences and also how much further he takes it
thanks!
Thanks!!!
6:50 “swamp groove” - Delta Saints. Promise you probably won’t be disappointed
John Mayer... one of my personal highlights from an amazing weekend in Dallas for Crossroads!
Who else freaks out when he says “background tracks” and not “backing track”
Dude, how about uploading your model/preset on to axe change, that neck pup sounds great..
Nice...I love how you to don't stray to far from the BB King, Albert King, SRV sounding licks...That make is sound killer...Great job!👊

Muggsy Bogues is still a legend thiug

the good thing about this guy is that he isn't yet aware of the fact that he is truly guitar-genius
18:48
We don't deserve John Mayer.
Is John Mayer a lefty?
no bro camera flip
This guy is pretty damm funny!
10:30 👍
Look at how low his pickups are set!
19:50 "That's just a D." My D's sure do sound a bit different but alright...

how does he know when to play minor or major ? or hes just playing what he is hearing
nano at a point you need to trust your ears more than the scales.
@@alexfvcruz that's a great way to put it
I love these because you can see that is human and makes mistakes to. Lol.
That's not.... Oh C# 12:50 hahahah
Lol been there
Anyone know how to play that Queen of California groove on th-cam.com/video/VIZw2NvnZvo/w-d-xo.html
One dislike from Fractal! 😅
Why would he upload a video that is flipped making it look like he is left-handed? This is terrible
10:30 👍
