      Hey have you guys done a vid on to hunt or to catch? As far as rewards. Sometimes I get annoyed Ppl catch instead of hunting. I'm under impression that hunting, you get better or more rewards.

      ​@@ThePresentation010 You actually get better rewards from capping. Capping and killing have the same reward tables, a carve equals a reward box. This was not the case in previous games, but is the case in MHW.
      And you only get to carve 3 times and you get 4 rewards from capping.
      Also capping generally gets you faster clear times too, which makes it more time efficient. The balancer for this is that it costs resources to do so.
      That and you lose the satisfaction of slaying the monster ;D

      I wanted to say i just found yiu guys recently and your videos help a lot. As a point of order i think it is worth mentioning that the Health boost large does provide a healing effect when you apply the song but not when you extend it.
      So treating it as a heal on cooldown is helpful to the team when you allow it to run out between healing.

      @@JinJinxandTuna I just wanted to leave you a minor note to the deep vero horn, when its not buffed(no green or purple status) its first use will heal around the amount of HP it would grant, making it a rare heal and as it stands your build considering deep vero could make use of this a bit more often 'cause of the absense of hornmaestro, i suggest never to encore it so you can use this heal more often
      PS: found out after typing this that other people already mentioned this, but well whatever, great vid!

    One thing about Health Boost L is that you can use as an on cooldown team heal (50hp I think). Only works on initial cast so you typically don't want to encore it. Prolly not meta by any means but can potentially save an ally if nobody has wide range.

    Health up large is actually pretty effective bc it heals 50hp for each of your team members, even if they’ve capped their max hp with food or a max potion! Play it once so that it doesn’t get extended and you have a mass quick heal for your team

    So to let you know, the screenshot of the Bone horn's songs at 9:10 is showing the song list of the rarity 4 tier. Not the rarity 6. They get upgraded beyond what is shown there, if possible. Atk Up S becomes Atk Up L, and I'm pretty sure Earplugs S also goes up to Earplugs L.

    Health booth L does heal for 50 health with 3-4 minute cooldown and it raises people's health to the cap without a cooldown. Btw this song has had the same effects since 3u iirc.

    Get well soon, and thanks for the video! This is a big help as someone learning HH and will definitely speed up my AT Kushala group runs with the Kushala Bitch Styck. Before I was running the Taroth Sleep Hammer build with an extra Max Might & Horn Maestro deco on the Styx HH in place of Elementalless.

    Other than lunesta horns. My absolute favorite would be dodogama. I love that horn. It was my first serious horn and I still love it to this day. That and it goes great with Zorah gear

    Well done gents! I’ve really been looking forward to this one. Always a treat to hear Griffted spread da HH knowledge. I just wanted to add that with the Styx build, you can keep the same skills (minus tremor res but adding windproof lel) but reach Attack Boost 7 by using Zorah Gamma helm, waist and legs, with Empress chest Beta and Drachen arms.

    I'm not completely sure if this is still true in World, but the health up song on horn had a nice hidden effect in other games that's probably still in World. When buffing health up L, the idea is getting your base HP of 100 to the max HP of 150. When receiving the buff, you simply see the health bar jump up to max with no lose to HP, meaning that the song also gives a heal equal to the buff. When players already have max HP from food, this effectively turns into a 50 HP heal that can be dooted in an emergency if the team needs a boost. The downside is that this only happens when newly applying the buff, so it won't effect a team that already has the buff active.

    I generally prefer the tarroth sleep (bazel if you're unlucky like me) over the deep Vero.
    TLDR: In my opinion recovery speed is a better defensive buff than defense up and not having to augment for affinity is a huge plus.
    Incoming text wall explaining my thoughts:
    Attack L is attack L... As stated pretty much required for high damage hh builds.
    Health up only works if team mates aren't at the health cap which should almost never be the case unless you're helping a new player who doesn't have resources for Max potions (In which case they should probably eat the chefs choice). It can be used to provide a heal once but you have to wait for the buff to run out to do so again and wide range sns is already a much better way to heal.
    Wind pressure negated is nice but situational. The only time I consider running it is against lunastra as it saves the team from getting stunned in her Nova. Kush requires all wind pressure negated so need to bring a different hh.
    Defense L can help get your team out of one shot territory by boosting defense by 20%. However, a 20% increase doesn't mean 20% less damage taken. The difference between 450 and 540 defense is about 3% less damage. Most people will have a higher base defense so the damage reduction will be even less.
    Recovery L provides the same effect as immunizer (2x health recovery). It also stacks with immunizer for 4x recovery with no skills. This can help the team recover enough to take two strong hits in a row as well as some passive healing throughout the fight. In my opinion this is more beneficial than the extra 20% defense. You can also stacks up to 16x recovery with immunizer + recovery speed 3 if you want to feel unkillable. Works well with peak performance too.
    Health recovery s is meh but allows a superpound jab combo. Even with the songs prepared playing them takes a couple seconds. To get the most value you would want to prepare 3 health songs and then encore them but that's a significant time investment and almost relies on corner horning (don't do this). If you want to heal there are better ways (wide range sns).

    Unless I'm missing something doesn't the Gala Hat like entirely outclass the Nerg head pieces assuming you have both Max Might and Crit Boost on your build? It gives identical slot efficiency while giving more base defense and across the board better elemental defenses.

      Yup. In most cases, the Gala Hat is better than Nerg helm. The only case I can see it not working is if they build doesn't use Crit Boost since you lose out on one Max Might from the Nerg helm.

      As a CB main who doesn't have his head up his arse, they're technical in different respects. CB is about understanding where you are in the sequence of attacks and how to get where you want to be for optimal effect, HH is something that isn't that, which I'm not appropriately qualified to talk about. My friend who mains HH has no idea what he's doing with CB, even having gone through plenty of guides and having me in the same hunt helping him and showing him what to do.

      AGrumpyPanda I can tell you, many of the same principles you mentioned for CB are even more important for HH, given the balancing of HH’s utility over DPS. Maximizing DPS on a HH, while maintaining the buffs for yourself and teammates is insanely difficult, especially because the HH has similar animation speeds as a CB, but lacks the safety of a guard point. For example, a CB can just GP a strike and immediately flow into a SAED or just back cancel into a normal ED. And even then, impact phials ignore hitzone values. Not so for a HH. They would have to pre-read the monster, position/evade, then, attack. Keep in mind that the HH has to generally target the head, ‘cuz HZV. Button commands aside, HH takes more monster knowledge than a CB, because all we have to watch for is an attack wind-up and get ready to block.

      I msyelf came from CB also but i also switched from multiple diff weapons lol i went from CB to gunlance from gunlance to lbg and then \to hbg and then to daggers then to HH lol but yeah HH i learned pretty fast but yeah builds around it are pretty hard to come up with.. havent played in EVER but last time was trying to farm for the jewel Maestro i think its called but could never get it.. did get it once before i plaeyd HH and then got rid of it and never could get it again lol

      @@starguardlux2874 Most of the principles in the game apply to all weapons, positioning, monster knowledge, situational awareness, which is why someone who's particularly adept at the game can use any weapon competently even if they mess up the finer points. Different weapons just have different playstyle requirements and different things you need to be aware of specific to that weapon- HH users don't need to think about their sequence of hits in terms of how it affects their movement, offence and defence mid-combo, but CB users don't need to think about the order of specific attacks to queue up a song. My point was, again, coming from the perspective of someone who doesn't just circlejerk the weapon I mainly use.

    As a HH main, I just pick horns based on the hunt we're going in. If it's something normal, I go with a horn with Attack, Defense, and Health Up. If I'm with a group of weaker hunters, I typically go for something with healing, so I can keep them alive during the hunt. Then there's specific monsters that I just choose a horn for. Like Yian Garuga, I always go with the Kecha Wacha horn because of the Earplugs effect, healing melodies, and water element. Essentially, I'm support that breaks faces.

    It might not be good but I love the Xeno horn, particularly against Kushala. Spam wind pressure negated as a buffer combo. Plus those slots!

    Health Boost is not that useless. You can easily use it to heal yourself and team mates (without raising the cap). But you do it only once, without encore, so that it will run out faster and you can play it again for another free heal.

    Excuse me, 12:24... The note on Health Boost is true, but you're missing an important factor of this particular song that is quite handy:
    Health Boost *HEALS* players that have already taken damage, even if you can't actually raise their max HP value.
    This is also why it's better to play a recovery Jho without Horn Maestro.
    I highly suggest loading the Health Boost song last in your line-up to make use of it for early-run hits on yourself or allies.

      True it does do that, but only once effectively. The song heals for the 50 it would raise your hp but after the song is in effect it cannot heal again until it wears off.
      That does make an jnteredting argument for running no horn maestro, although personally bc of less need to rebuff we would still prefer it.

    Still using Bazelreid. Even though not as effective for dem raw deeps, the combination with some of my regengear makes it so when a monster hits me, im full health again within half a second so basically i just stand in front of the monster taking hits to the face while my friends have a free time wailing on him

    Deep vero adds up to 85 percent affinity btw -30+30crit eye= 0+30 max might= 30+50 wex = 80+ 5Attack Boost = 85

    In terms of choosing a fav hh in mhw I honestly have a real hard time choosing between empress blaze and the bone horn lol
    Bone horn has that simplicity of spamming supeslams/backslams to build up songs while empress blaze has the Finale song which makes buff managing much easier
    I guess I’ll just choose both

    I have been using more status based hunting horn and the vespoid queen and deturo has been really good for me but in all honesty i still dont know what the best armor to use

    What about Kjarr crusher? I know it's only blue sharpness, but you get the Vero buff songs and blast. Seems like that might be good in a team setting.
    Would have been nice to see dps build with max wide range for tougher team fights like behemoth, arch tempereds and ancient leshen

      That's being a corner horn. Max damage and wide range don't mix and frankly horn is not the weapon to be healing with....but literally just use full drachen set w empress roar blaze with empress y helm, max out wide range slot in for peak 2 attack 6 and max crit boost and weakness exploit. Congrats you can do damage and heal at the same time, but I suggest you play offensively and don't waste your time carrying players that cant handle it. It's a lot more fun and effective

      @@OlgaHHMH Not sure how using wide range is being a corner horn when I'm hitting the monster to build my recitals.
      Also, healing =/= carrying. Here's a little basic math for you. 3 hunters deal greater damage than 1 hunter. This especially true in the tough hunts I've mentioned. Where everyone is going to get hit considering most people aren't pros. You do realize that time spent healing is time not spent dps?
      If you're going to take time to buff your team, then you should try to keep them in peak shape, because of that whole 3>1 thing. Do they not teach math in school anymore?

      If you are keeping someone from dying, they don't have to back away and wait for you to heal. They can keep going ham. 3 hunters in rocksteady going all out offense will more than make up for the small amount of time it takes for you to heal.
      If two of your teammates have to heal, then they aren't attacking. You dps dooting won't compensate for that. Your friends may never make a mistake, get hit and need to heal to prevent carting. If so, great for you *slow clap*. It's a bit different for those of us who take damage occasionally.
      The fact that you call basic math stupid shows how foolish you are, or you're just trolling. Both are equally dumb, and you make other HH mains look bad with this garbage. So, go back and doot under your bridge.

      It's good for buffing your whole team and boosting their damage output. I don't use it solo, (Taroth sleep), but I'm not talking about solo. Seems they don't teach reading comprehension at troll school either.
      You really have no room to laugh about my understanding of math when you've failed to grasp that 3>1. I would laugh but ignorance of that magnitude is depressing.
      Something else that can't be measured by Honey Hunter is uptime. Sure, high effective raw is important, but means nothing if you aren't hitting the monster. But I'm guessing even that elementary concept is over your head.

    Why is dodogama horn not top? Same atk as the heavy bone and blast, atk L and Def L with a nice combo on deny wind pressure.

    I don't understand why you guys don't *always* get the health weapon augment. For example, the Jho HH. I could understand the first because 10% affinity is powerful and the base affinity is atrocious but that extra 5% affinity from the 2nd affinity augment isn't worth it at all. Considering 95% affinity with Master's Touch is far more than you need for any fight that lasts less than 10 minutes and doesn't have cancer weakpoints. Less dedicated healing = more DPS = faster kill. Even if you have a monster on farm and won't get hit most of the time, you can take greedier strategies to squeeze out more DPS because you can heal while fighting.
    10% *free* life leech is busted.

    Actually health boost large actually heals a fair bit if your teammates loose some health buuuut after you use it you can't spam it. Cause it's a constant and effect that you can't spam and XL doesn't heal

      Health boost is awful, it doesn't stack with Max Potion and it can suddenly wear off making you get 1 shot just because of the timing :c

    What about swapping to zorah Y head, empress B torso and attack boost 3 charm on Griffted's build?
    That nets you same 100% affinity & same damage skills but +1 attack boost overall.

      I dont have the zorah chest yet so this works perfectly. Thanks dude. The only issue i find is that the windproof from the helmet is redundant because of the all wind negated song. Other than that, the only difference is the lack of tremor resistance

      Its because you want to play encores and not notes, since does are the meat of your damage. The more time you spend linning up songs the more dps you are wasting.

    Do you think it would be cool if they added a custom armor Builder? I mean it's not impossible as Dragon Age Inquisition has done it, not so big that it's like making your own armor from random shit, but rather something like we get 4 slots ( just like in the game) and we choose which resource to add in and it gives some corresponding bonus, rarity, skills, etc. for example the slots would be Base (bone, or metal) gives the def value, Padding (Hide, or scales) works like food skills that give a list of possible skills that you can get based on the amt of resource you put in to it with a max of 6 or etc, Design (claws, horns, fangs, etc) would give more skills and or deco slots based on materials that you use, and finally rare material (gems, plates, etc) gives quality to it ( essentially affects all the other choices above by adding a quality value, or rarity value that gives us a chance to trigger specific skills or gem slots based on the resources we previously input) this would give the premis that the game IS fully customizable, gives us undreds if not thousands of new stuff without actually needing to allocate a tone of resources in Making things for us, RNG and crafting. just an Idea.

      Not really, part of the mastery of the game is understanding the tools at your disposal (your armour skills in this case) and combining them in the way that most suits what you want. Being able to just custom-build bypasses that aspect of play, and RNG crafting is just going to lead to a lot of frustrated optimisers.

      @@AGrumpyPanda Yes I understand your point of view, and being a player since MH1 on PS2 I agree in general that MH as a franchise would be different if this idea would be applied, but as such MHW seems to be trying new things out and is ever expanding, changing up the game further, we see this in MH Online that the hunter arts skills that were introduced in Gen Ult seems to have come out from the Online skill based part of the game, I just think the Idea to be able to Mix and match and based on RNG (pool per items used) gives a more lasting game play than just flat "here's the armor" it also removed some weight from the developer in terms of "how do I fully design this" in that creators would be able to experiment on certain builds, granted this is not for everyone, much like mods they can add this as a Optional DLC (paid of course) for those more into making the experience personal.

    Hi Jinjinx and Tuna !
    I had kind of a weird question :
    I played every Monster Hunter game on psp and 3ds and used to play with a bow, however on MHW I don't really like bow (due to the fact that now you have to aim when before, because the landscapes were flat, you could just aim by orienting your character), so I'm playing with the dual blades, and I'm really enjoying myself, lots of numbers on the screen, fast dodging, etc.
    But I really love doing max deeps.
    I watched a lot of speedruns and I see that the best times are always done with a bow (understandable, it's broken), or a longsword for the melee version (or sometimes greatsword), and the best dual blades times are far behind.
    I play a lot with a group of friends, and I know that speedrun conditions are not the same as normal quests conditions (if your weapon can stunlock it will help a lot with your time, etc.)
    So in a regular quest condition (say hunting a tempered elder dragon with a group of 4), would I lose a lot of deeps by using dual blades instead of a longsword ?

      Dual blades actually has some of if not the fastest TA Blademaster times. But thats only when played by the absolute best DB runners, normally Natsume. Despite its reputation is has one of the highest skill ceilings in the game.
      In multi, DBs has one of if not the highest damages on downs. DBs deal insane damage to non moving monsters.
      One of LS's biggest strengths is its ability to handle monster aggression and punish it with foresights and helms. Monsters are less predicatble in multi which might make rhat harder.
      They both also have innate flinch free which is nice fot multi.
      Overall, both are strong in solo and multi, and it comes more down to your skill with the weapon. If you have a CC hunter with you though, DBs deal a lot more.

    Hi, I really enjoyed your video! Just want to ask: Regarding the roar blaze set, do you consider running maximight 3 and tenderizer2 less optimal then tenderizer3 agitator2 in situation where both get to 100 affinity and attack 7? Is it a matter of preference and play-style?

      If you tend to roll a lot, you may find yourself running out of affinity. If you wiff weakpoint attacks, you may miss out on WEX. It all depends on how you play.

The set I described (the former) is the set I optimized and currently using, I commented in the April fools video. There’s a minor difference in effective raw when we consider every skill online. But if we assume maximum might is easier to get online than tenderizer or agitator (again, this is my assumption and I look forward to be prove incorrect), isn’t a maximum might 3 tenderizer 2 set better (in general situations) since it has 70% affinity when not hitting weak points while the agitator2 tenderizer3 has only 45%? I know this is very niche and probably even wrong, just want to discuss my line of thought in theory crafting with you guys.
      Sorry for the long reply, again, I really enjoy all sorts of video by you guys, and glad to see you are developing your own styles step by step. Thank you.

      ​@@perchipy7900 You are correct that a max might heavier build will be better assuming you whiff on weakpoints. However for optimal damage you are going to be hitting weakpoints anyway. This is why WEX is considered such a META skill, outside of matchups that can't use it like sever vs Luna.
      If you whiff a weakpoint, you are dealing lower damage already because the HZV is below 45. Increasing that damage by a smol amount doesn't net you much damage gains over the course of a hunt. Conversely, increasing the damage you deal when you are already hitting a HZV of 70-80 leads to much larger damage gains.
      Assuming a non weakpoint at 40 HZV hits lets just say 40 damage, a weakpoint of 70 HZV would hit 70 damage.
      A Crit boost 3 crit (1.4x) on the non weakpoint would increase your damage by 16.
      The same crit on the non weakpoint would increase your damage by 28.
      In general, its a lot less efficient to load damage into non weakpoint hits, because the damage is already low on those and the multipliers therefore get less bonus damage. This is why our Pierce HBG build from the previous video uses WEX, it's more efficient to increase the damage of the Weakpoint pierce hits than increase all hits by a much lower %.
      The only exception being matchups that you can't strike weakpoints on consistently, Sever vs Luna and Shot vs KT being the classic examples.

    The defense boost on vero doesnt do much atcually for survivalbillity. It reduces damage by less then 2% if you around 400-500defence.
    So it isnt that usefull and a waste of time to keep refreshing.

      @@teletubbypo318 if you go to the discord l, the channel #jinx-mathdumb it shows the % of damage reduction. Also his nova is mostly based on element res. Just because you had 1 encounter doesnt make it true. The size of monster can also influence the damage of the monster. There are so many factors that determain damage that your experience is a inacurate repensentation of the usefullness of defense boost.

      You are only looking at absolute differences and not relative differences. Defense Up XL adds 20% of your base defense, so 471 defense becomes 565.2 defense. That means you take 14.5% and 12.4% physical damage respectively. Relatively, you take 17.1% less damage with Defense Up XL. This works out to be about enough damage reduction to not get one shot by Extrememoth at 150 HP with Defense Up XL vs somebody not getting one shot at 180 HP without Defense Up XL.

      Nope that horn is bad, takes 4 points of handicraft to even get 10 hits of white sharpness lol, jho does the same thing w one point invested and it has waaaay higher raw, affinity is easy to build for so no issues there.
      Dodogama base horn is actually better, crit status isn't even good on horn bc it attacks slow, and dodogama horn has two level 2 slots which imo(and probably statistically) is way more worth it.
      In fact crit status styx not only hits harder but actually has more blast procs. So no it's not good. Only good KT horn is sleep
