In the Missouri ozarks we've experienced 45 days of triple digit temperatures. In the summer we usually get hot but not like this summer. As a garden designer and environmentalist, I'm concerned about our planet. All I can do is design waterwise gardens and plan for a different world. I so appreciate your spirit and your effort to use less resources.

congratulations to the contest winner, Stephanie, and how lucky is she to get a personal tour!! we would love to see your garden, Stephanie; i hope some day you feel comfortable letting us visit a la Laura 🥰 that crest! isn't it amazing that you can cut it up it like that and get 3 for the price of 1? and i'm also amazed at how heavy some cacti are! but they are full of water, so to speak, i guess, lol... that beach was a fabulous idea! i know your succulent babies must get so excited to come and play in the sand... isn't it wonderful how an unexpected event (omg, we have to move!) turns into something so wonderful??? enjoy your weekend, stay cool and hydrated! this heat is just insane... 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

I live in Solano County the North Bay Area come Monday we’ll hit triple digits! My porch gets southern exposure and is covered in giant pink jasmine bushes, I move my potted succulents underneath them during heat waves! Thank you for reminding us not to water and for creating space to enjoy succulents together, absolutely love watching you everyday! It’s a trip you’re potting up an eves needle, my neighbor just gifted me and old potted specimen today I cleaned it up and repotted her, not crested or in a Susan pot but pretty cool!

So many plants & trees are turning brown from the high UV, drought & restrictive landscape watering of only 3 days a week in the early morning hours and late evening hours up here in the "Northstate". The neighborhoods that once looked so inviting to live in have taken on the ugliness of climate change. We are thinking of moving to the desert, where people are used to not having green lawns and lush landscaping around their homes. At least we won't have to worry about our neighbors stealing the water from our faucets to make their own yards look lush without having to pay their fair share of water bills! Loved your watering tips.

I have learned so very much from your amazing tutorials in all the videos I have watched over the past month since finding you.
The most important advice that I have gathered is to NOT worry about watering the plants when I first plug them into their new space.

Thanks for the reminder that I needed to hear, Laura! Don’t overwater. I'm in St. Augustine, and have been moving my potted succulent collection in and out, due to all of the rain we've been having. I have about 40 pots, so it's getting kind of tedious. Only have two agave in the ground, and I ignore them and they do just fine. Stay dry; more rain is on the way!

Wow! I was really wrong in that comment. I have a large pot of Eve's Needle; several plants together, actually. And none have spines that I've ever seen. However, I was in a nursery the other day, picked up a small pot of Eve's Needle and got my hand full of tiny (really tiny!) spines. Nasty little buggers; hardly seen seen but painful. My apologies for seeming to be a know-it-all.

I'll bet that cactus will continue to rot. Better to have continued trimming the stem upward until all the tissue is healthy. If that ends up to consume the whole stem, just chuck the plant out without further adoo. That Eve's Needle does look spiffy in the Susan Auch pot!

Pro tip- start the sawzall before you touch the plant with it. You will have a much easier time cutting. Starting it while touching the thing you are cutting will rip up the surface or throw the item around. I hope this helps!
