For some reason I think the soft dome sounds better with the voices, but lacks some "air" against the ribbon.
If you take that dome tweeter apart carefully while marking the position on the tweeter motor, add ferrofluid, and carefully put it back together, they will sound a lot better.
@@davidperry4013 What? That tweeter has ferrofluid and that is exactly reason why it is NOT the best sounding soft dome.

soft dome sound more natural. as a drummer by profession, the domes actually sound close to the natural timbre of the bronze hats and cymbals

I currently have a Lavoce soft dome tweeters and the X2.
The X2 is obviously clearer but the cheaper $15 Lavoce tweeter covers 90% of the X2s' capabilities.
Unfortunately I had to stay away from Ribbons because Ribbons have no attack when sudden loud sounds are required like explosions. But they do easily extend notes giving you sounds you didn't know were there. Absolutely outstanding for music but I'm not a music guy...
I'm music and movies, this the same for all ribbons? What about the frequency where explosions usually reside? I'd ideally have a three way so could crossover the tweeter higher to mitigate that. Looking at amt or planar tube amped
Ribbon is good for some genres like Jazz and vocals … aluminium tweeters are fantastic for explosions 😅

I couldn't really hear much difference thru my laptop speaker. But at 4 times the price , is it 4 times better ? Law of diminishing return. I go with the cheaper visaton

what i can do when i listen this on fountek neo x.2 :D You can hear difference on the drum set .On the ribbon tweeter you always have authentic energetic cymbals, raw guitars detail and micro-detail in the voice at the expense of the subtlety of the sound It is often too raw and real

После купольника (у меня стоял Melo david audio T250A) надо привыкнуть к ленточнику , сам поставил три дня как уже fountek neo x 2.0 сперва было непривычно его слушать как бы чего то не хватало ,пропало цыканье и появилась детальность . Купальник несколько мягче играет но размазано , грязнее . На мой слух ленточник конечно же предпочтительнее звучит.

Dome tweeter is soft and smooth.
Ribbon tweeter is some harsh . It will give better sound when use long throw speaker ,I mean for pa system.
Do you have some experience with ribbon tweeter in pa system? I have wooden barn for wedding party. Inside PA system with 4 satelites and 3 subwoofers in cardio. Tweeters are beyma compression. I don´t really like too much screamed and sharp highs of this tweeters, but for dj´s and music groups dome would be too smooth I think. Do you think ribbon is somewhere in the middle?

The Fountek Neo X 2.0 lets you hear more high tones because it has an average sensitivity of 94 dB. The Visaton SC 10 N8 has only 90 dB. 4 dB difference is a lot! So it is not a very realistic comparison in this way! If you would reduce the soundlevel of the Neo to 90 dB by using a MOX resistor you probably will not hear much of a difference anymore!

m8 , resistors can change loudness but not the sensitivity , the sensitivity give richness in detail , you can hear that here even using your speakers , or at least you should be able, i can hear it on Behringer 2031A , they ahve titanium dome tweeter .

To me the hi hat sounds brighter with ribbon tweeter. With the dome tweeter sounded more opaque. I'm planning to replace my speaker's tweeters with ribbon ones

It's not how the tweeter sounds, it's how the instrument sounds thru this one's.
the ribbon sound more realistic, just need to be adjusted via crossover and level via Lpad

Ленточный звучит однозначно более натурально. Когда был а театре, там оркестр вживую играет... Вот ленточный подобрался ближе к тому живому, натуральному, естественному звучанию.
Fountek sounds very harsh and synthetic with metallic overtones to it. It seems to me it has very high distortions with pronounced third order harmonic and slightly raised response in the highest registers.
Visaton sounds more realistic and natural with more fundamental body, much lower distortions. But also it sounds kinda dull, because it's a very cheap dome cheaper than 20 bucks and has not so impressive dynamic characteristics.
If I had to choose between the two it would be Visaton any day. But also there are better options from Vifa/Peerless that are not much more expensive

I've listened to the samples with low distortion DT 1770 Pro.
You make a conclusion about the quality of the speaker, without even knowing what level the audio system was (recording, source, amplifier, wires, crossover, power)
Fuentek could show all the flaws of the equipment, which hid the dirty visaton ..
yes, and 3000 Hz is too low for tape, it is better to use it from at least 6000 ..
Hahah what a ridiculous assessment, like you can hear all that from this video. Also ribbons are not supposed to be utilized like seen in this video . They need a much higher crossover point !

What I don’t understand is how can I hear the difference? I am obviously going to listen this exact video on my computer that has a really decent pair of Genelecs... but my Genelecs are playing the music right now. Not both of those tweeters. You can flip flop through anything and the sound that my Genelecs make is what I am going to hear. The only thing that I am going to hear is what mic you used to record those two. I will never be able to comprehend the dynamics of both those tweeters. Without being there.
Silly me, I actually sat here for 10 minutes playing it over and over to try to hear the difference. Until I realized that I am not going to really hear a difference. Just how good your mic is and how good my Genelecs are.
Lol, is this a trick to get as many clicks as possible? By getting people to play it over and over? I’m just joking. It is a nice video. I wish I can hear the difference though. I am still lost of the difference though. I feel that maybe the ribbon is more sharp sounding and crispy while the ribbon is more smooth. That is just me imagining how it might sound though. Like the sound of air running on the edge of paper, possibly.
Lastly, I appreciate your video and understand what you are doing. I just don’t hear a difference on your video. Even with using Genelecs which are known for rendering and generating exact replicas of a recording. Yet I still heard nothing different.
The difference is very obvious on headphones. BUT...you have to have experience to know what to listen for. I couldn't hear shiet until I made my own speakers and eventually started hearing those details everyone is talking about.
I can hear the difference on my Samsung phone. Either you got high frequency hearing loss or your genelecs tweeter is broken
I can easily hear the difference. Listening on my Martin Logan Motion 35XTi's. These speakers also have ribbon tweeters so that definitely helps.
Ribbon is much more lifelike, HD, realistic.

у меня планарничег от хифидиайвай за 500 р, слушаю с этим чудодевайсом и ислышу разницу, лента яснее купольников, прикол, если купольник не отыгрывает то, что может планарничег за 500 р, нафига тогда купола?
з.ы. а попробуй замутить маленькие колоночки с лентой, но только чтобы лента явилась встройкой в колонку, врезку в переднюю панель, чтобы вся панель была каркасом, на который закрепляется лентаиз фольги, магниты, желательно, такой твиттерок должен быть с открытым задом, например накрыть сверху стаканом из сетки (в канц. магазинах, для карандашей). А то, на базе заводских динамиков то городить, всякий может ((((-:

@@12345649702 Yes it would. The G20 has a nice lineair response. I have build the VIB130TL in the past and was very pleased with the sound. Ik did replace it because of the low efficiency.

sc 10 n8 ХЛАМ. 6 динамиков купил в разное время и у всех вокал и гитары с песком в звуке. вот так вот. слишком распиарены из за русской нищеты. знал бы, взял бы что по дороже.
