- When we buy older cars we know that there will be problems and issues, but with that being said it also means we can get some cars a little cheaper! So we are going to start tackling the issues and the problems with the car. There are a lot of broken pieces, sketchy parts and things that need corrected. Something that I did not mention in the video is that the power steering is kind of uhhhh..... bad. We think its the pump but luckily we have one off of the 2017 STI that we can swap onto the car! We will bring this car back to how it was 15 Years ago!

I feel ya Smeedia - every used sports car I've ever owned from my first (a RX-7) to by current baby (a 2008 WRX hatchback) has always had a bunch of sketchy stuff AND spare wires left over from who-knows-what. Good to see someone else that knows how to treat a car. :)

I have an 06 wrx with 172,000 miles and it still runs great. Custom tune with downpipe for 250awhp. Can’t wait to watch this build!

I run my coilovers like that on my legacy gt the reason you have the coilovers top hats pointing towards the middle of firewall is to add positive castor which helps you handle better if the alignment is good and when you turn it adds more camber so you can take corners a little more aggressive
I've seen some people do it but one coilover is installed as for camber adjustment while the other is installed for caster 😅

It looks like those tail lights are modded to have the running lights in the circle instead of the edges. Thats pretty cool. Those old goldies look to be in decent condition too. A lot of times I see those with a ton of curbage. Keep up the good content bro. It does not need to be an Evo. This STi has way more character.

I have the same problem man every car I've bought has been over abused and undermaintained lol I think its just common for people to buy cool cars without actual knowledge of knowing how to fix them so we end up having to make up for their lack of skills 😂My 06 sti has had a whole wack of problems since the first day I bought it but I've put in a ton of money and time to fix all the issues, just rebuilt the engine with forged pistons and rods along with a whole bunch of other new parts so it's brand new in that aspect ✌🏽 Can't wait to see what you do with your builds, always love seeing a fellow Subaru owner taking proper care of their vehicles!!

@@Smeedia looking at a 20g not sure what brand as of yet. The vf39 is hitting pretty good with the whole sohc setup but I can't push more than 16psi tapering to 14.5 with these injectors which sucks lol
THATS EXACLTY HOW my 05 LGT is when I got it, PERFECT BOTH INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR. Just put 3500 to bring it up to speed, and FINALLY Got a COBB Air intake on order! Thx for this PERFECT VIDEO FOR ME and to help me get going on improving my car!!!! I’m stoked “be doing this along with you” haha

Nice GD !! A few things while your at it , check the AVCS screens and remove them as per the TSB. On a cold morning below freezing it may leak fuel from the rubber lines under the manifold. Other than that you should have fun with it.
Already replaced all fuel lines and removed the screens today, also pulled off timing and the manifold. Have a help of OEM replacement parts to go on 😅
Smeedia went with the Gates racing timing belt at 105k so it’s been around 20k no issues with the belt or tensioner. Went full OEM fuel lines rebuilt just like the factory but with way better clamps for when the hoses shrink a touch. Valve covers are a breeze. My motor internals and turbo are still stock 04 just waiting for an issue but nothing in 10 years and I’ve rallycrossed it Autocross , Snow drifting occasionally street run and oh so many data log pulls. If the clutch pedal is making noise it’s either the rod into the firewall is dry or there is a kit for firewall welds coming apart. th-cam.com/video/T8UwMcQyfd0/w-d-xo.html

Dude! It's not too terrible! For isolating the sound, get a mechanical stethoscope off of Amazon. Car Wizard has one linked in his Amazon Affiliate's page, and just posted a couple videos on how to isolate those types of issues. So excited for the future of this one!

The fuel leak could be coming from the hoses under the intake manifold. Every winter I get a strong fuel smell coming from the engine until it warms up. I'll replace them eventually...

Well worth it! Those filters get NASTY. And it was the fuel line it was old and worn already pulled it all out 😅
Awesome! I always imagine what people think when they see actual car people going to look at a used car. Scrutinizing every little detail lol. I NEVER start it or drive it until i feel I've gone over everything. I looked at a 13' with 27,000 miles that had been at a dealership forever. I could tell immediately was off, car was in pretty poor shape. As soon as I hit boost it was cutting out and throwing codes lmao. Glad I found my gem right after that one tho ;)

Honoustly that 05 sti looks good for a high mileage car. My car is also a 05 modelyear wich i bought 3rd hand in 2010 low mileage 58000km(about 36000miles) and my car back then looked worse then your 05 sti now does.😅But great to see the new project getting some fresh jam, always nice to fix up a new project.Love the content brother.👍✌️👉and be well.

@@Smeedia That will come, thats a bit the exciting part for me to get it running and feeling like new along with mods that enhance the driving experience, like that front anti lift kit i fitted on mine, tested it out properly on the street yesterday and it brought me so much joy and appreciation for what i did when i felt the improvement in grip and turn in response.And i saw your excitement in this video when working on the car.Thats why i watch brother i love when people get the satisfaction from putting their passion and commitment in their project cars👍enjoy the rest of the journey.👍
I recently got an 05 STI, the previous had someone rebuilt the motor. There are tons of missing parts in the engine bay which really drive me mad! I'll just put every piece back and make the car great again.
