    at the end, it's actually not them just "making a mess". So for Filipinos, we have these things called "balikbayan boxes" and usually they're filled with goods from abroad. Overseas parents/relatives can send food, clothes, electronics- anything really through the balikbayan boxes. So simply in the end, the way I see it, the "kids" are ripping through the boxes because they keep searching through the boxes to find that ONE thing they want but actually can't find, which is their parents presence. Also, the built up hurt & frustration living without parents & also having to BE the parent & just wanting them present instead of gifts just explodes out of them.
    Other than that, loved the reaction video! Also recognizing the different genres & the voices of Alamat & Lyca :)

    Thank you for reacting to Alamat. There are a lot of hidden meanings and symbolism in the MV.
    The part where they are crawling and tied with ropes, that’s called “pinitensya” and it is done during Holy week here in the Philippines. It’s symbolizes the suffering of Jesus but here in the MV, it symbolizes the sacrifices and sufferings of parents overseas just to get money to send to their families. Then the end where they are wrecking boxes. Those are called “BALIKBAYAN BOXES” here in the Philippines, those are the things that the parents send their families like clothes, toys, shoes etc basically their needs. But that scene symbolizes how frustrated, angry, tormented the kids are that they don’t care of the materials things, they just want their parents back.
    It is also the POV of the eldest sibling telling the younger ones to save money while the younger sibling does not understand and because of the longing for their parents became spoiled, rebellious and angry. Then the other siblings that feel pain, longing for their parents but still tries their best to fill in the roles of their parents for their younger siblings.

    The fandom name is pronounced exactly how it’s spelt, MA-GI-LIW. I literally thought I was gonna have nightmares after hearing the teaser also 😂 And yes, the intro of their song came from the children’s lullaby. Im not sure, but Im pretty sure there’s an old Filipino ghost movie that used the original “ili ili” song, and made the wholesome lullaby very creepy. And in the beginning, ALAMAT stuck with that creepy vibe.
    An OFW (overseas Filipino worker) would always send money, or huge boxes of goods to family back home. We call them “Balikbayan boxes”. These goods mostly contain food, clothes, toys…pretty much anything they think is useful for relatives back home. As a kid growing up in Canada, I remember the excitement of getting to help my parents pack these huge boxes, and having them sent out to relatives back home to enjoy. How I see it, ALAMAT tearing up the boxes at the end shows the frustration of spoiled children of OFW who aren’t satisfied with what they received in their Balikbayan Boxes. They eventually become unappreciative, and forget how hard their parents are working in another country. Since we live in a digital age and communicate with far away loved ones on our devices, we often don’t see how much they’re struggling behind the camera. And, of course, parents don’t want their children to worry about them, so they keep their struggles to themselves.
    I went from getting shivers from the teaser, to crying from the song’s meaning 😭 what is this rollercoaster of emotions???????

    I really love your reaction and we officially welcome you to Barangay Magiliw!!! This song is dear to my heart and on the top notch now of Alamat’s great discography because i am also one of a child of OFW’s, the last part is totally me finding the real healing in my heart, I don’t want the material things actually but the presence of my parents, but as an adult now, I totally get all the sacrifices of my mom. And I’m very thankful to her.

    • @CHACHIICHANreacts

      Ano!!!?! Wootwoot! So happy!!😁😁
      Aww I’m so sorry you had to face that as a child but it’s true as children we really don’t understand those actions from our parents, only after we grow up and maybe have children of our own we realized that what they did was so that you could be able to grow up. Around the world there are people who leave the kids for work and they either fort her their children and abandon them or worse, they die but to have parents that leave but still take time to send money or clothes to support you is something to appreciate it. We can’t see them on the other side so we don’t really know how much they are suffering as well 🤎🤎🤎🤎
      I’m happy to see you were able to grow up and understand and appreciate your mom and her sacrifice it shows you at a good child. Keep being an awesome person🤎🤎🤎

    Hi.. Actually we have Tagalog horror movie here in the Philippines "White Lady" ( if I'm not mistaken) and ILY ILY song included in that movie.
    On the other part, ILY ILY song is very sad song lullaby. But ALAMAT, give the other meaning when the time comes, parents and children will be reunite again. So, don't worry..

    • @CHACHIICHANreacts
      @CHACHIICHANreacts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it’s White lady, I know because I accidentally clicked on it in my recommendation list 😂🙈🙈🙈 oh boy I can’t watch that by myself!
      Thanks for the insight on the lullaby, I would not have thought it was completely sad. In Alamat’s interpretation I did catch a few sad reflections pero it also showed me. Determination (like when kuya/ate wants to take care of siblings while parents are away) and Maturity(during R-ji rap about saying if you are happy I’m ok and about making his lunch)
      The way the song was written gives you many point of views so that fact they were able to make that change from the original lullaby I really admire their team’s work.
