Nice project but the results are nothing like the look you get from a mola Demi, for example, which i have used for years, and im very familiar with its rendering. You are missing one huge key element of the mola design but if you have seen molas then you know that.
This is a no-brainer for me here in Thailand. There are restaurants on every block so there are LOTS of very large stainless steel bowls being sold everywhere. I've found the speed ring on line here for the 296 baht, or about $8.50 USD. I'm sure I can hunt down a perforated aluminum pan as well. Do you have a drawing of the perforated plate that shows the hole spacing? The measurements should be the same on any Bowen's mount I believe....or am I wrong about that?
Hi Steve, I tried drilling my own disk initially with poor results so you're much better off to just buy a crisping pan if you can. Holes on mine are about 5/16" apart. Cheers
The Mola dish is perforated and does not have a reflector in the center it has a grid and options Opal diffuser. The light quality of the Demi and Setti are amazing vs regular beauty dishes.
