Outstanding film! Strong script, production values, and acting. It has an opening that engaged me, a plot twist, and an end that pulls it all together. It’s exactly what a short film should be. I love that you covered a difficult conversation for any couple; it’s in having those conversations that relationships are strengthened. We’re celebrating 35 years this week and there’s almost nothing we can’t discuss in a civil manner. It’s not always easy but that is part of the journey when you’re in a relationship. Keep making films!
I remember when my boyfriend (now husband) said he wanted to have sex with other people and I did not. It was the hardest and most difficult conversation we had but very important. Both must agree with that. There are risks. Like fall in love with somebody else. And whatever the end result is there is no "I won, you lose"
I watched _Here We Are_ several months ago and enjoyed that also. It is difficult to compare them because they are so different. But in both, the complexities of relationships are explored. How our self exteem is tried up in our partners. That feeling of insecurity you get if your partner doesn't seem to be as committed as you. That word "boring" cuts like a knife and can be devastaing, even if it is not said out load. Going forward, I think Rose's loss will deeply effect Gabriel more that Mateo. Even in the confusion of her grief, she thought of her husbands dignity.
So much said in such little time and very much in tune with the spirit of the times. A modern look at human relationships. Congrats on this beautiful short!

This was well done. I watched it a couple of times, and it made me think about how perspective plays a huge part in our lives, about what's important to us at the time. And it takes something truly heart wrenching to bring us to reality. Especially in relationships when two people don't see eye to eye. Thank you for this.
What a sad way to have to put things in perspective but they will be better off for it now, I think. They can begin to heal and really love again. Beautiful film. Thank you for sharing it.
Sometimes you just need perspective. That being said, the conversation still needs to continue because the underlying issue and feelings are still present. Fantastic short film ❤
All elements were exceptionally well executed in this short. Nothing pulled focus from the story. Dialogue this natural is a special skill and seems to challenge many screenwriters. I was moved by these characters as they spoke your words. Kudos to the actors you cast! I subscribed and look forward to seeing more of your work. Thank you, Philip.
Beautiful short. So many touching moments. I have been on both sides of those discussions between the two gentlemen and I am heterosexual. Relationships are relationships. All three of the actors were so powerful and believable. Kudos to all of you.
Very good and engaging short - it packs quite a few punches with a great dialogue. But in the end the experience of how volatile and fragile life is knocks the young couple and makes them rethink their own life
Philipp, your film took me on a deep, poignant journey that prompts one to reconsider what really matters in life. Thank you for this moment of introspection. Well-done.

@@ejmeadows Thank you very much for your words. I had a wonderful team so thank you for noticing the details. And yes, it was very sad when the actor passed away suddenly not long after we filmed.
I watched this beautiful short film, and I like to think that the final embrace is a new beginning for their relationship, one that remains exclusive without the interference of third parties.
This is a standout piece of filmmaking on so many levels. The subject matter hitting close to home. I may have learned something today. Thank you, and bravo to all involved.
Lovely short...brought a tear to my eye. Your movie speaks to me about the fragility of love and how often it's taken for granted. I believe the problem with the concept of monogamy is the prevailing negative attitude that surround it...that it is often viewed as something that is required or forced upon us by societal norms. I learned a long tome ago that monogamy is a choice that one should only make of one's own volition - a choice, and a gift that is precious. It's the pervasive negative attitude towards monogamy that feeds upon itself. It should be a willing choice one makes out of love, not because it's something one HAS to do but rather something one WANTS to do - as a professing of one's love.
A good film tackling a very important subject. I like how the death of their neighbour made them realise their love for each other, and put their sexual needs into perspective when related to their love for each other. Sex is a very important component of all love, gay or straight, and it helps to make relationships stronger if it can be talked about openly. It is always a good idea for there to be give and take in sex, and real love can be the driver that enables a couple to compromise and do things for their partner because they love them. The joy that a partner gets during sex can be contagious because of this.
Yes I agree. Talking openly about it is so hard for a lot of people. But avoiding the subject makes us lose out on so much potential intimacy. Thanks a lot for watching and commenting!
My husband and I had almost this same discussion. He wanted to make our marriage open, I did not. He used the same excuses and promises if I would agree to let him have other sexual partners. Unfortunately we didn’t have an English lady downstairs with a deceased husband to save our marriage.
perhaps watching their neighbor sit by her dead husband's side and singing gave the guys a different perspective to their love life, hence the beautiful hug at the end, that says it all and of course this was a lovely film and good lessons🤩😘🤩
If the characters think Senior Citizens, especially gay men, don't have passionate amazing love and sex . . . they need to learn they are soooo wrong. The film was outstanding and I absolutely subscribed. Looking forward to checking out all your content.
Danke für den wunderbaren Film ihr habts wunderbar gut gespielt. So ist es im Leben. Man soll immer mit der Liebe sprechen können über alles. Man weiß nie wie lange man noch am Leben ist. Yes you gotta be on the same page. People are different, have different needs, but no relationship will last with secrets and lies, to yourself or to you partner.
I’m so much like Mateo, & I just won’t see anyone, because other guys to me seem like Gabriel. I know it’s a reality. And yes, like Mateo, I notice other guys. But, it’s just that, just noticing, nothing more. Also, at 6:22 and thereabouts, Gabriel is doing his own “blackmailing,” or something akin to it. I don’t like it. I’m afraid that’s what dating and relationships have to offer, and I would just rather not. And, I’m no good at hookups. So, not a very fun or fulfilling life. I feel for Mateo, probably because I know the feeling.
@@philippkarner_ , I wish it weren’t so ingrained in me. I mean, I am a flirty person by nature, and I do like physical connection, which often leads to sex, or used to at least. It’s been a while. As a viewer, I understand Mateo, and feel his hurt. Still, Gabriel does interject with an honesty, a physical honesty. He may not explain his point as well, but it doesn’t take away from the truth. And, one of those truths is that he probably just will end up cheating on Mateo, as he says he likely will, if they can’t come to an agreement that works for both. I don’t see what that is, but perhaps they will find it. Mateo saying “Okay,” is not mutually satisfying for both, as Mateo is hypothetically agreeing at this point of advancement because of Gabriel blackmailing him, “I’ll cheat if you don’t let us (me) do this.” What can Mateo realistically say? Just saw this and subscribed. Excellent short film. Realistic plot, great characters make this unforgettable. Also the ending gives hope for their future together. Nice one! 😊 👍
@@71Trevor01 I agree with you. I felt Gabriel blackmailed him on opening their relationship like it was it, so Mateo would end up being obligated to deal with it or leave, and still have to listen to a fkin load of annoying accusations because Gabriel totally ignored how his boyfriend was since the beginning.

Omg. It is so sad but true 😓 This film is touching. PS: If you're German, do not feel attacked. This is just the pattern I've been seen here for a long time.
@@liinuli The biggest problem seems to be the lack of deep conversation between them. Our needs change constantly and we must talk about them. I guess many people are afraid of confrontation and getting away from confort zone. Relationship is something dynamic and we have to be prepared for any type of change.
@@liinuli I agree with you but my point was based on what the movie showed: One part wanted to solve the problem through conversation and the other one wanted to escape from it. It seemed over but they were supposed to sit down, talk about it and make a decision. I guess they were never in the same page since the beginning. But it is never easy getting away from confort zone and being single again. In this society, single means being alone and it is seen as a failure.
I liked the film very much and the way they presented the subject and the dialogue was very beautiful ... From my point of view, I think that sex is the most special thing for lovers, if the relationship becomes open and everything becomes permissible, then I think that its end will be better, I can not get involved with one person, and I sleep with several people and wake up every day with another person, regardless of the risks
It's an interesting short film. I don't believe in monogamy relationship because my intuition told me so. Though I still have inexperience with romantic relationships. I will have that someday. I think communication is key before agreeing with other each. 👍🏽👋🏽

I didn’t understand the hug, since it doesn’t mean that the death man experience makes the boyfriend change his mind on wanting an open relationship. In gay relationships it seems normal to sleep around.
I could relate to their situation I've been with my partner for 21 years and we haven't had sex in a long time and is because certain circumstances and I'm okay by not addressing it.
