How I quit Google to sell Samosas | Munaf Kapadia | TEDxNHLMMC

  • Munaf Kapadia, in his twenties, did something not many would have the courage to do so. He quit his white collar job at Google only to build a business that could keep his mother happy. He decided to connect the two dots of the unavailability of the authentic Bohri cuisine and the fact that his mother loved to cook food. He was elected as Forbes 30 under 30 and one of the top 50 food influencers in the country.
With an established brand of himself, he has had guests from various Bollywood stars and respected members of the society. From Google to Forbes, Munaf Kapadia is stealing headlines almost daily. And he will share the History and Idea of how the lost art of Bohri cuisine lead to such successful entrepreneurship. Something which started off as an activity to keep his mom busy and happy has now turned into a much-coveted dining spot for not only Mumbaikars but also for all the foodies across India, “The Bohri Kitchen”.
For Munaf Kapadia, to leave a job at Google and then open something which has never been done before and is an absolutely alien concept to everyone, the TBK was a gutsy and a daunting move.
However, by doing so, Munaf managed to be one of the Forbes under 30, made a successful culinary enterprise and also resurrected the dying culture of the Bohri cuisine.
Most importantly, he made his mom happy! This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

Exactly yaar ! Media thought it's different just because of this sentence this guy left Google and started selling samosa . Google holds a very crucial value here .

After seeing the title, i expected more than this, more interesting story. This is not that much motivating as i thought on the basis of the title.
    To sum up the story.
A young gentleman who worked in google. See his mom, that she watches tv serial a bit much. Started resturant at home. He himself told, his mother dish is not greater than 5 star food. So, he thought to play the name game.
Already had, google before his name, that give him so much advantages. Try to call justin, to increase the brand value. He didn't came. But, bollywood celebs came though.
Now, trying so much to get SRK in his kitchen, to increase the brand value by 💯 times.
    That's all.
I didn't like that, here the name Google is the main hero. He didn't know cooking, didn't had any passion also. The backbone is his mother. But, he is the highlighted person, cuz he worked at google.
Whereas, real passionate people, who loves to cook and eat, if they start any restaurant themselves, they will have a very hard time.
    And here see him.

Why don’t celebs do this to every good food catering business people ?
The recipe for his success is..
    1) employee at google
    2) being a Muslim
    3) media & celebs crooked agenda in creating a hype.
    4) his marketing skills.

    • @ican615
      @ican615 2 ปีที่แล้ว

This a bitter truth with the actual recipe of his success that cooked on the basis of agenda.
The only question in my mind was that will these celebrities really give such importance to food that cooked by a Hindu and by following vegetarian recipes.
I appreciate this man's mother's skills but there is also a truth that there are more talented people also exists in our country who really cooked outstanding food.

Lol really?? Observe his life keenly and then you will understand it's a just a person with money and Google brand name decided to earn money in different way, which, according to me, most of the entrepreneurs did. The best inspiration can be those people who did something on their own (not with any brand name) and money. And now some smart people will say stop being jealous. I've no reason to be jealous of any entrepreneur

Don't tell yourself entrepreneur. Tere jaise carores hai. Samosa sell kar ke kitna bhi kama le, samose wala hi rahega. If money is the last goal in your life, you can earn billions taking contract to clean even gutters. Google seems lost its value recruiting your kind of person and Facebook is not your father's playground so that you think they will hier you just because of your speech.
