Built one of these for a 54? F100 Restore, originally a farm truck from NC. STill had the original bumpers on it
All stock so it was easy and lo budget. Usual machining to the block, bumped the compression a tad, blue racer/wolverine "RV" cam 3 angle valve job w/some cleanup. Surprised at how well it ran withthe stock gear and 3 on the tree. Exh made a fantastic noise
Cruising about 3k it was the best road music! Fun to do an oddball engine for a change

I hope you’ll talk about one-piece rear main seals.

The flywheel flange is significantly larger than the rear main seal unlike a 302 One piece rear main seals are not a thing people do on Y Blocks. A careful install and leak check will get you xlnt results from an original rear main seal.

A 292 block will make life easier. Your 272 will have a lot of good peices you can use.

@mummertsspecialvinterests2721 It's not easy to find a good y-block in Sweden and it's going in a light roadster so it'll have power enough. 😉

A stud girdle would be cool and easy to build.

Would you consider using 12 point nuts on the rear main studs? They could give you a little bit more room for socket clearance.
ps. The Hall Toledo V.I.P. grinder is deluxe!

Mine has been hot tanked but there is still alot of rust in the cooling passages between cylinders, im getting some of it off with a pick tool. But what do you guys do to really clean that out. Thx

Hot tank a couple of times. Keep knocking the block on the cement. Use high air pressure to blow it out.
