    That young mum is one strong young lady ❤ and of course I’ve got to be proud of the Aussie doc as an Aussie myself! She showed so much care, not just other tiny patient, but to his family.

      If he and his mom had been in the US, she'd have had crippling bills for the rest of her life and the child would've been uninsurable for the rest of his.

    Is there no postnatal care there that would MONITOR that child in a compulsory manner that missed him being so critically underweight and unwell? By the time my daughter was 3months she had 14 doctors visits in hospital (3 times a day for almost 5 days fully) 2 days after home 7 days after home, 14 days after home, 1 month, 2 month (because she was barely underweight) and 3 Months. I’m completely BAFFLED how no one caught this earlier.

      Came here to say the same thing. How was Jaziah's heart condition missed by the pediatricians at birth and then at well baby checks in the 3 months before he was rushed to hospital?

    • @alihawkins8264
      @alihawkins8264 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      It’s her first time being a mum and they might not have the same access to healthcare as others. Especially if they both work. No one is a fault but it’s great that they found it. Babies can hide things.

    • @kaykepop4084
      @kaykepop4084 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I was thinking the same. I live in the US, and before you leave the hospital, they verify that you have a pediatrician set up for your baby's wellness visits. It just amazes that this baby is so underweight. If this mom was taking her child to a doctor, I hope she doesn't use that doctor anymore because the ball was certainly dropped by medical staff that saw him prior to this for this little one.

    "Have a look at this. You see this in a baby you have a few hours to get help. You see this in an adult you've got minutes before they're gone"
    Great to say in front of the mother. She was flown out later that day to the specialist child hospital.

      My twenty month old baby with congenital heart disease weighed 6 kilograms. At 3 weeks old the local baby clinic referred her back to her birth hospital (the Johannesburg General in South Africa) as a failure to thrive baby. She was diagnosed with a complicated heart issue. The doctors told us that at birth the various chambers of the heart and blood vessels often had different beats and it would take a little while to settle down into the normal lub dub sounds. Perhaps this was why the diagnosis was delayed.

      First of all, my family almost lost my youngest sibling to spinal meningitis in the first 3 days of life.
      The parents were both PhD's, both wealthy, responsible adults;. My sibling had been home less than 48 hours.. and if the grandfather hadn't been a doctor for over 50 yrs, my sibling would have been dead by morning.
      My stepmother had scarcely put my sibling down at that point. And yet my sibling was hours from death.
      Secondly, I don't know if you realize how deceptive Infant clothing sizes can be.
      I'd bet that child was in a 2-4 month size, bcz both my ravenous, colicky beasts ( born at 3.6 kg & 3.1 kg) were in 9-12 month size hand-me-downs at 3 months,. And the 3.6 kg beast gave me my 3 & 1/2 yr old grandchild is a 6-T., who is a size 6T, while I was a 6-T in first grade.
      That mother is already devastated. Is it really your place to pour salt into a 19 year old mom's wounds?
      How about You do better, Crystal

      What a judgemental comment! You have just seen a few minutes of their lives in a short tv show. You know nothing of their real lives and how the baby and Mum are normally. The mum is very young and it's her first baby. She obviously needs more support too.

      @@sarahu5217 You can call me jugemental as much as you want, but the little we have seen already rings major alarm bells for me. Unfortunatly I recognize many of the patterns from my own experience with the neglectful, abusive narcissts I refuse to consider family anymore. I guess you have to have experienced it, but the portions with her in it send shivers down my spine
