    My 17 year old cousin was diagnosed with brain tumor last July 22, 2016. It was a big one. She died last August, 1, 2016, 2 weeks after the diagnosis. She survived the operation for a day, she was awake after it and we all rejoiced! afterwhich, she had 4 seizures and was unconscious. after 48 hours of being in life support, she died because the brain was really swelling and it affects her breathing and heart. please pray for our Angel, Angela Marie ☺

    I had a tumor on my left femur, and I remembered I couldn't walk or stand. They did a biopsy and they found out it was a benign tumor and they removed the tumor and part of my femur. It was called a Giant Cell Tumor. It is an aggressive benign tumor. It was removed in August 2015 and then it came back around April 2016 and this time they have removed my my knee and part of my femur. They replaced it with metal prosthesis. Trust me, I used to jog 7 km a day and I am a martial artist. I can't do anything like that anymore. But after all that, I am walking now. I can walk my dog in parks. Although I miss jogging and martial arts, I am truly grateful it was benign. I was truly scared and afraid it was cancer, osteosarcoma, but it wasn't. Keep praying hard and keep your family close. Don't give up, ever. You are a strong lady, emotionally, mentally and physically. You can win this. I am happy i found this video. Really inspirational. Keep doing whatever it is you are doing and never let go of hope. Take care.

    So true Trust your instincts.. ( My wife had Cushings disease from a pituitary tumor) Most people do not realize that a " benign" tumor can have profound effects on your body/ mind, and can even be fatal. I'm so glad you listened to your inner voice, and that you got diagnosed, I pray that God guides your entire medical team with his divine wisdom, and compassion. Stay strong. Not everyone will understand what you are going through.. but some will. Surround yourself only with supportive people and try to minimize stress while your recovering. Be good to yourself, pace yourself, and rest as you need to. Wish you the best.

      Edward Ryan Thank you so much for the well wishes and advice! I hate how some doctors call any brain tumor "benign". One of my neurooncologists said it is absurd to say a brain tumor is "benign". He considers all of them cancer because like you said, all are life threatening or life altering. I hope your wife is doing well.

    Doctors get so offended when you assume a possible diagnosis about what you’re experiencing. Then they want to say “you look healthy and you shouldn’t play doctor” well how about you do your fucking job. I’m tired of hearing these stories where the doctors are brushing these patients off! I wouldn’t have to play doctor if you take me seriously. It’s ridiculous but I’m glad you were persistent and got a diagnosis and thank god it showed up on the MRI cause lord knows they would’ve continue brushing you off. I’ll keep checking up on you!

    • @hermionepink96
      @hermionepink96  4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I agree with you- a lot of doctors have a superiority complex. It seems we are moving away from the days where most docs and patients worked together to help a patient. I have found comparing my experiences with others that females are not taken seriously as much as males- especially if you are young. My Mom would be dead right now if she hadn't kept pushing when something didn't seem right. If you aren't being heard, keep looking until a doctor listens. There are still good docs out there.

    • @jodecijammillinghaus3743
      @jodecijammillinghaus3743 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes females mostly! I’ll keep praying for you and I know you felt like something was off. I’ve noticed a lot of people who have had brain tumors reported feeling like they knew like because they had this feeling. There was this case with this woman who said a inner voice told her she had a tumor on her brain and she believed it because she couldn’t shake this feeling. Also she had like invisible symptoms things that could’ve easily been diagnosed for dehydration or stress. She couldn’t function but doctors kept brushing her off saying she was mentally unstable until sure enough there was a tumor there. I’ve watched and done research on cancer stories and ppl who had cancer else where suspected it might be cancer because they can see the visible lump. But people with brain tumors they know something is up even if they can’t see. I’m glad you’re here with us today and god is watching over you and your family. Be safe always especially in these times!! ❤️🙏🏼

    • @hermionepink96
      @hermionepink96  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@jodecijammillinghaus3743 Yes I agree. It was so weird because I had that inner voice too. All of a sudden, the night before my MRI, I had a panic attack and my gut was telling me there was a tumor there even though I had never worried about or thought about having a brain tumor before. Our intuition is crazy. My Mom had uterine cancer. She had a gut feeling she was going to die one day. When a doctor told her she was "fine", she couldn't shake that thought that there was something that would kill her, so she went to another doctor who diagnosed her with cancer. Trust the gut always.

    • @jodecijammillinghaus3743
      @jodecijammillinghaus3743 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@hermionepink96 exactly. Wow. That is very sad. I’ve been coming up with theories in the past without having to do research because I just observe it. When there’s a rapist and he has a kid and even if the child does not know the father, chances are he would come out with tendencies of the father even having not met him. I thought rape might be genetic. I think the brain is complex but it’ll know somethings up even if the body doesn’t show signs yet. That intuition is strong the reason you had that panic attack was because you knew and your brain officially diagnosed you. Most people wait for their results at the doctors office and have overwhelming panic attacks there or emotional numbness. It’s ridiculous that your mom had to take it upon herself because she knew from past experience to find other doctors. This has happened twice too many times. I’m so sorry girl you and your mother did not deserve that and god was on both of your sides

      I agree with you. My 20 yr old son has just recently been diagnosed with GBM grade 4. I couldn’t get an appointment for him with the Drs because of COVID-19. The ambulance service wouldn’t listen to me even after he had a seizure, the hospital didn’t test him they wouldn’t let me stay with him and he sat in A&E for 4 hrs and did nothing for him.I persisted and eventually got a scan and then had a 6hr life saving surgery.I am thinking of you all who are struggling and I am worried that there is not enough awareness or research on this horrible disease. Hi there - Thank you so much for your story. You have so much strength. I am 52 years old and 2 years back I just hade a seizure- taken to hospital end the very next day I heard that I have a tumor(in left temperal occipital lobe) not cancerous. Went on treatment but kept on feeling worse. Two months there after I had my first surgery and within a month I had another one and a 3rd one-( wound wash out.) It was very overwhelming and scarry. Surgeries was followed with many weeks in and out of hospital. I had so much support from loved ones and that kept me going. Although it is stil a daily struggle, I am so grateful to be alive and to be able to do things for myself. Listening to your story gave me courage to claim back my life. I know it is very scary, but your strength and positivity will carry you through and I will certainly keep you in my prayers. I’m so happy you’re getting treatment at MDAnderson! You can have confidence that whatever you have to endure, that you will be fine after it’s done. MDAnderson is really serious about eliminating cancer. My son was near your age (19) when he found a tumor, and went through several metastasis + new tumors, but he and the team at MDA persisted, and he is now cancer free, very healthy, and is finishing his bachelors degree. Most patients there don’t go through this much. MDA is very thorough. Your beautiful faith will help you get through this time, however long it takes. Hopefully you won’t have any ugly surprises, and you’re back on track with your life quickly! I will try to remember to pray for you, Marissa. Most kids your age are focused on starting their own lives, so I would recommend that you seek emotional support from older people (parents especially) In addition to your friends.

      Chris Merkl I'm so happy to hear your son is cancer free! Thank you so much for your support. I had a recurrence of my pituitary tumor recently which is a bump in the road, but I am seeing how God is doing such amazing things in my life through this difficult circumstance. I know I am at a very different point in my life than most kids my age, but I try to remind myself that our lives are not meant to all follow the same path and timing.

    I just came across your video and I am amazed by your strength and openness about your diagnosis. My son was diagnosed with a germinoma tumor in his pineal gland about four years ago. By the grace of God he is in remission now. It was a very scary time for him and our family. I encourage you to seek out multiple opinions before deciding on a treatment plan. His was surgery, chemo, and radiation both in low doses. He was treated at CHLA, a hospital that specializes in cancer of the central nervous system. I will keep you in my prayers and wish you the best. Continue to stay positive and strong. 💐

    Helloo just thought I'd pop a comment saying thank you for making this video- it's so reassuring hearing someone my own age going through a similar thing to me. I have a tumour in my temporal lobe which causes completely different symptoms to those you've experienced but completely identify with so much of what you've said! I was also initially told it was a cyst not a tumour and nothing to worry about, the miscommunication is the most annoying thing! I also had that gut feeling that it was a brain tumour but told myself I was being paranoid so hearing you say that too is weirdly comforting haha. Good luck in all of your treatment!! xxx

    Thank you for sharing your story, Marrissa. My mom was complaining about severe headache/magraine for the past 10 years and we had recently took her to a neuro to have mri scan. The doctors said that they found a small tumor in her brain but should not be worried because it's not cancerous. We are now trying to decide the best/cheapest treatment. She lives in Africa but she was diagnosed in Saudi Arabia. So, we want to know if surgery or medication is the best option. Thank you and I wish you the best.

    • @hermionepink96

      mplsridah I don't know what the best option is since I'm not a doctor. I would do a lot of research on her specific tumor and location and get multiple opinions from doctors. I would also suggest that if they don't do surgery right away, make sure to monitor her symptoms and the tumor size regularly. Good luck to you

    • @shereehardin5783
      @shereehardin5783 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could have docs monitor it since surgery can cause seizures. Talk to a doc about it. The thing is benign can turn into a malignant so plz talk to your doctor and figure it out from there. In a way, benign is the earliest stage or when it is caught super early.

Your daughter is strong and she is clearly so loved by you. She is lucky to have you as her mother. I hope your daughter has gotten treatment that has made her better. As for me, my only option is targeted therapy pills for life which make me feel really sick. My only option for my pineal tumor is surgery which has a 20% chance of a bad outcome, so I choose to live with the symptoms it causes instead of take the risk. I will make an update video soon. Hi Marissa,
    I had a grade 2 brain tumor when I was 16, that was growing in the canal around my brain stem. I was able to have brain surgery, and now, 7 years later, I am living a happy and successful life. Only a few vision and headache issues that I deal with everyday, but these side effects are nothing compared to the alternative!
    Stay positive and know that this is an obstacle that you will overcome. This situation will only make you tougher and more mature. Continue to believe in your doctors and yourself. Everyone has the ability to influence their life story and this is just another chapter in your story that you can spin into a positive moment and a catalyst for the rest of your life!
    Consider yourself lucky for being given the opportunity to come face to face with reality in ways that most others will never get a chance to.
    Feel free to message me anytime.

    Also as for "second guessing" the diagnosis, i really wish a lot more people would do this, my nan died of a cancer that she was told is nothing to worry about, at the time if sh'e'd have gotten treatment, she'd be alive now and i could tell her your story, sadly it killed her, this is not a sob story, it's just an example of WHY people shouldn't always take a professionals word as gospel. I underwent a 12 hour surgery to have it removed and I’m happy to say, mine was benign and my baby survived the surgery as well! I’ve had 3 more tumors since, all with surgery removal. This video has been so helpful, I am going in to the neurologist soon, and I am terrified. We have a lot of the same symptoms, and I have a bad feeling that it could be a tumor. I'll give updates when I can, but I just wanted to go to college and I'm scared I can't now.

      My MRI is in the scheduling process, but I'm growing more concerned, the nausea is getting far worse, I'm having a little more trouble with coordination, and the left side of my face is less sensitive than the right side.

    Hey I hope you're doing well, I couldn't agree more with trusting your instincts. Two years prior to my diagnosis, I began having constant headaches. After over the counter pain relievers didn't work for me either and so I thought it was probably a brain tumor which turned out to be correct.
    Keep up your positive attitude and beautiful outlook on life. It definitely helps. Best of luck and take it all one day at a time. You can do it!

    I was diagnosed with pituitary tumor last month I haven't gotten anything checked sense I was started on my medication with the new year coming up . I haven't decided on treatment options if my levels aren't ok when I go back I have not had an mri yet but need to with my increase in headache fever and dizziness, also what I'm assuming is vertigo . I've been contemplating making a mini serious on my journey for people going through this journey too, sense I have found barely any information on it or young ladies who've gone through this....

    I'm kinda scared u know. idk if it's anxiety stress or idk. I have good vision and good hearing. I don't vomit or have seizures. I don't have dizzyness I don't kinda have one side of the body but its not severe. half of my face isn't parylized. my body is praticly okay. In my head it's diffrent. once in a while I have severe headaches not often tho. guessing that's normal. I have one thing that's making it seem like I have it tho and that's like a tight feeling on the top of my head. and honestly I don't have much things to be stressed about. I feel like a strong price of brain being pressed on the upper left of my skull. and I'm gonna go to the doctors to ask about it. but the only things I have really strong anxioty about is the way I look and what people think of me. idk Im just scared thanx for sharing your story

  • @lisastanley3636

    I was diagnosed with a brain tumor on June 23 in Pittsburgh and they did emergency brain surgery in the early morning hours of June 24, 2018 after leaving a Keith Urban concert so I didn't get to see the end of it and those concert tickets were my birthday present. There was no time to get me home to West Virginia so they flew a helicopter in to take me to UPMC immediately. They said I had a grand mal seizure which is the same thing that my autistic brother died from at the age of 29. I am 47 now and my only child is 24 and living in Florida and I refuse to have my mother lose another child so I will fight this thing all the way. I have my first chemo and radiation treatments on July 30 in Morgantown, WV at the Mary Babb Randolph cancer center. Prayers please. Your story was inspiring. I had migraines at your age but have not had one in a long time.

      Lisa Stanley You are such a strong warrior! This brain tumor has nothing on you- I know you will win this fight. It makes me sad to hear that you lost your brother and are now struggling with your health too. I am so blessed to be able to inspire you. I am praying for your total healing and comfort to surround you. 💙

      @@hermionepink96 I have my last treatment tomorrow. I started losing my hair after taking the chemo pills so I had the rest of it shaved off and found nice head coverings to match my clothes. I won't know until mid October if the chemo and radiation worked on the last ten percent of the brain tumor.

    Going to the neurologist tomorrow since I am having vision problems. I already went to an optometrist to see if I needed glasses and a psychiatrist to check if I have dyslexia and both were negative. Hopefully there is nothing bad and I am fine wish me luck 😁

    Hi Marissa, I just thought I'd let you know I also had a Pineal gland tumour. I had it removed three years ago and was back at work within four months. It is scary, but doctors and surgeons these days are incredible, so I'm sure you are in very capable hands. I hope all goes well for you.

    • @hermionepink96
      @hermionepink96  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! So glad to hear that things went well for you. Was surgery your only treatment for that? Luckily, I had a spinal tap and they didn't find any malignant cells in my fluid and on my most recent MRI, it hadn't grown at all. They said it was more than likely going to be just something that needs to be monitored my whole life and hopefully, I won't ever need treatment for it. My pituitary tumor is a different story, but the pineal tumor was much scarier to me since it is in the middle of your brain.

    • @chriswalker1851
      @chriswalker1851 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi marrisa, yes surgery was my only option, I had no idea I had a tumor, my parents luckily found me in the back room of our house after they came back from a weekend away. After a few hours of the doctors being unsure what was wrong with me, a scan showed I had the tumor. It was blocking the flow of CSF through my brain and giving me severe hydrocephalus. I had to have two emergency ops to relive pressure or things would have got......bad lol. Then they decided to take out the tumor to stop it potentially happening again about a month after the first two operations. I have a shunt in now, which is going to be in permanently, but it's all inside my head, so that's no bother. I only get the occasional headache and they did a little damage to my optic nerve when they operated on me which means i'll have to wear glasses now. I have double vision if I don't, but to be honest, i'll take that considering how much worse it could of been.
      I actually wrote a whole article on it if you'd like to read it? I wrote it because I could see there wasn't much real life first hand experience of people with tumors on the net, and I hope it might help people who are scared, because it can be a scary thing.
      You can find it here chris-walker-health-and-fitness.blogspot.co.uk/2013/11/my-experience-of-brain-tumor-before-i.html
