Props to Lenny Fontana as an interviewer: he has a depth of knowledge that Louie respects, he jogs Louie’s memory, and then lets Louie go into full story time mode.
Heartthrobs was the first club I ever stepped into AND the first time I ever heard Louie play, the rest is history. A lot of great nights, songs and memories back then.
I love that Louie has such a fondness for the UK scene in those early days, we've always had so much love and admiration and got so much inspiration from our cousins, our heroes across the pond, pioneers and visionaries like Louie, Kerri, Frankie, Larry...so many its impossible to name. I'm from the North UK, near Manchester, and we had a huge Northern Soul scene from the late 60s thru the 70s and for me, the arrival of Boogie, freestyle, fusion, D.O.R, Techno, House music from Chicago, Detroit, NYC and all over the U.S thru the 80s when I was growing up was just continuing that close bond and relationship and inspiring us to go out there and create our own interpretations and styles. It's a really special thing, something thats shaped my life in many ways and Ive always felt an almost spiritual connection to people who share this same passion for the music, its a powerful force that can transcend time, space, age, gender, race, nationality and really bring people together.... its something very pure. Long live our music.
Louie keeps busy ... he has relationships with folks, which is sincere ! Louie has a great energy which fills the studio with such a relaxing feeling. By the way “ Louie “ is sitting on a lot of music ... that we hope and pray he will release for public consumption soon !
I REMEMBER THE CLUB HEARTHOROBS BACK IN 1986, I FIRST HEARD OF LOUIE VEGA WHEN HE WAS "LITTLE" LOUIE VEGA WHEN I WAS WORKING AT CRAZY EDDIES, IN THE RECORDS DEPT UNDER RALF PENA WHO WAS CLOSE FRIENDS WITH LOUIE BUT LENNY, YOU MAY NOT REMEMBER ME BUT I FIRST MET YOU THROUGH DJ WHITE LIGHTING, JUST SAYING WHAT'S UP, GLAD TO SEE YOU DOING YOUR THING, GOD BLESS!!!!!!!
These interviews are great deeper study into mind of an artist. LV has been big inspiration for me in terms of soulful house. Although im not digging every release there's certainly always a some kinds gem coming down the pike.. thanks LENNY!
I was there every night.. I was my home away from. I remember everything David Cloe That was the night of all nights. It was like a rave... Everybodys Hands Up
