Great video. Will not have a dropper on my bike. My cockpit would be too crowded, I guess…but if I ever need one, I will revisit this video

I am glad you did this video. Recently got a couple KS etene dropper posts with no lever. Was trying to find some decent budget levers, thanks.
Oh BTW, QR code is extremely popular in Taiwan right now, it's everywhere.

Good review, I have a WT and probably would only replace it if something happened to it in a crash. I'm basically pretty cheap....

I have the first version of PNW Loam, i like it a lot. And i bought also the matching Sram shifter lever. Unfortunately a month a go i feel with my bike, and my upper leg bended the loam lever, and also broke a bit from the clamp (sram matchmaker x clamp) and now its moving. I would have to order a new clamp, but overall very satisfied with the remote a good quality, very expensive especially that you can't find it (not all the time) here in Europe (Austria). I bought it from amazon and it was €80 and the shifter clamp around €40. Thx for the video i was curious how the second version is.

Hardtail has the wolf tooth and FS bike has the factory one still which works decent but switched the post to PNW great post. my buddy works for wolf tooth so I try to stick to them if I like it which I normally do. I seen wolf tooth has a new dropper out I wonder how that is? Cheers

Lots of great options on the market in the $50-70 range, my favorite is also the shimano xtr dropper lever (SL-MT800-IL)

I like my Wolf Tooth dropper lever and the way it mates with my Shimano XT brake clamp. The new Fox dropper lever that on my other is also mounted with my Shimano brake clamp. Personally I wouldn’t choose to mount my dropper with a separate clamp, it just looks messy and it probably doesn’t line up as nice. I really like that the new PNW Loam 2 has 3 mounting positions. Most only have 2. I don’t see a reason for an a reach or throw adjustment but some people may want that.

V2 Loam lever also eliminated the cable stay that V1 had. The last 3 V2’s I bought do not have the cable stay tab. Just a small FYI

I tried the Wolftooth normal and light and the OneUp.
Prefer the Shimano MT800. Haven’t tried the MT500
I found with the Wolftooth and OneUp the levers returned slowly and not completely. Not sure if this is due to the OneUp Dropper, as mine is always stiff on the first press, but was still slow to return after. The spring in the Shimano makes it return completely and quickly.
What difference does the extra cable pull of the MT500 make. I know you done a video comparison a while ago. Do XTR brake levers allow the Shimano lever come closer towards you?

Still running my aliexpress (most likely) clone for ~$20 and still can't accept asking price for any other "known brand" model. Well maybe Shimano or Giant are at least sensibly priced.
Surprised the bearing still runs well, but did grease steel shields at some point which always helps to shed water. (not rubber sealed if memory is right)
Wouldn't recommend integrated "clean cockpit" options to any tinkerer and people that keep on looking for a setup and try many budget options, as it will limit you at some point.
Integration and locking options out was always ridiculed... except in bikes... yeah it's good on bikes... my ass 😂

The Puget is an underrated lever. It’s been dwarfed by the success of Loam. But since Day 1, I’ve preferred the minimalistic and cleaner looks of the Puget. I have it on Bike 2 and love it. It works perfectly fine despite having a smaller bearing and made of forged aluminum. Loam V2 looks good. OneUp just released V3 a couple months back and honestly the colored rubber pad idea they incorporated just looks like Loam. It seems these 2 companies are trying to “oneup” one another. Lol

Shimano has a 20 buck lever. Good quality, with a spring. A bit of grip tape on the lever, and as good as any. These ~70 dollar lever are for showing off, like a poor mans lambo.

  • @dimimtb

Best? I have the Shimano one, cheap, integrates with my XT shifter and works. It's not the best but the price of a simple single bearing lever is crazy. You can buy a full Microshift 10 speed shifter for cheaper than a bloody lever. I appreciate they need to make money but there is no reason these are so extensive.
