      @@KevinBobkay Hello Kevin, thanks for the comment. Honestly I am not sure what to answer, main reason being that I always use the canon high-end lenses. I prefer to invest more money in a good lens that in the camera body. As a lens will last forever. Then, it depends what lens you're after, what focal length? What is a low budget? It is quite relative ;-)

    Nice comparison, I may have missed it but not sure if you mentioned what firmware your 4K was on, if the 4K and 6k are both on v7.3 firmware they’ll both be using gen 5 color science which is flatter than gen 4. I have the pocket 4K and briefly considered upgrading to the 6k pro but also decided it wasn’t enough to be worthwhile, I’m holding out for possibly a new body design and one of blackmagic’s own sensor (micro cinema 8k or 12k) I still own and continue to use the original bmpcc because it’s such a special little thing, Beautiful image

    Really good vid man! I haven't seen too many real world comparisons like this. I have both cameras, i actually much prefer the 4k with the .64 metabones as it gives me a wider field of view that is very close to ff and way waaaaaay better at low light performance, as well as using waaaaay less storage media, the 6k is also very cool but kinda bulky, it sits on a tripod 90% of the time whereas the 4k is a run n gun beast, if you outfit the 4k with a tilta cage, battery/focus handle w/nano focus wheel and get a great variable nd/ or mini matte box with ND's, you are at about the same cost as the 6k without a cage or matte box (which I think you're nuts if you don't protect your camera with a cage), I would rather have another 4k rigged the same exact way as my first 4k rig as it would make multi camera color matching a non event and keep everything else ultra consistent in production equipment and post production editing, with the 4k/.64 speed booster i can also use the BMRaw gyro stabilization at max effect and only get cropped down to the super 35mm 6k frame size when it's NOT stabilized, stabilizing the 6k crops in on it significantly, it really comes down to not wanting to be hassled with time consuming issues for what is arguably a marginally better image in the 6k, the only really small advantage imo is punching in on 6k footage stays extremely tack sharp, i also really like the dual xlr mini's on the 6k, but the 4k's 3.5mm mic input isn't a deal breaker unless you are in a really emi/rfi polluted environment where you need balanced connections to reject noise

    Nice video! I love the field real world test. It’s definitely not about resolution for me. But I have wondered, does the 6K have less noise or smaller noise?
    If I switched to 6K Pro it would be for the screen you can actually see outdoors, internal ND, and EF native lens support.
    I’ve often times used the Bluetooth app to set focus points, but I have the viltrox speed booster and it doesn’t work with it. The metabones is close to the same price as me buying a 6K Pro and selling 4K.
    But in the end, the image looks so close to identical! So for me it’s more of the on the field accessibilities that can speed up processes. IE, Walking outdoors to indoors
    Do you have any tips for me in this situation?

    • @namonty4
      @namonty4 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Honestly, I'd go straight to the 6K pro for several reasons. First, the cost is not really that different. EF lenses are commonplace and easy to find. If you ever intend to move up to larger cinema cameras like the RED, you'll already have your lens options in order. In order to use them on the 4K, you'd need a speed booster. That difference was about a few hundred bucks. Then you factor in the tilting screen. That cuts out the need for a monitor in many cases. That basically closes the cost gap. Not to mention the internal NDs. That's another cost factor against the 4K. The crop of the M43 has been a battle for me personally. I battle getting wide enough. Then there's the future-proofing of getting 6K. You don't have to shoot in 6K. You can shoot in 4K, but if you need or when the standards move up to 6K, you're already set. It seems weird to think of 6K being standard, but there was a time SD was standard. So... yeah. Also, the batteries being such a common battery on set, it'll be even easier to keep the power on. That's my two cents.

    great video xDDD
    But I have still some questions as it's pretty hard to choose between the 6k and 6k pro haha. I've never had a video camera, so I'm somehow afraid that it will be too heavy with the Pocket 6k Pro (1.2 kg DJI Rs 2 stabilizer, 800g Sigma 18-35 mm, 1.2 kg Pocket 6k Pro, and another battery or SSD.) Do you think that could be the case? Especially when you e.g. film the whole day or when you travel and still have a drone. I also wonder if the 6k Pro's "tilting screen" is really necessary? (I filmed with the Gopro and the cell phone on a stabilizer and never really had any problems, even when I walked very close to the floor. Maybe it's different with the camera, as many 6k users said it is necessary). Buying one later would make less sense, as it costs more and is perhaps even more uncomfortable if you use the stabilizer and fix a "DJI 3D focus system" / microphone on the "head" of the camera. I've already looked a bit on the internet and apparently the 6k Pro fits on the RS 2, but it's not yet entirely clear to me whether that's really true. I have one last question then I say more than thank you; Do you actually need nd filters a lot in filmmaking?
    thxx

    • @MamoAir
      @MamoAir  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello there. Thanks for watching the video and for the comment. I will try to answer to your questions via a message.
      About the weight. Amy camera I have ever used, after a whole day of filming, will feel heavy. If you use it on a gimbal, it will girt your lower back. If you use it handheld with an handle for 8 hours, you will not be able to straighten you fingers for an hour after that. It happened to me. Camera gear can be heavy in the long run. I do not think there is much difference between the 6K and 6k pro.
      In terms of monitor. I do not think it is necessary. But it definitely helps. I used cameras for years withouth an external monitor. I now have a Blackmagic 4k without tilting screen and I can still use it on gimbal without problems. The good thing of external monitors is that they are usually brighter, and can be bigger, than native camera's monitors. They allow you to get lower and higher shots with ease too. Also, once you get an external monitor, you will be able to use it on any camera you will buy in the future. So it is a good investment.
      About ND filters. Yes, you need them for videography. Everything depends on what level of professionality you are aiming to. ND filters will keep a natural motion blur to your images. Without that, you will have to compromise other settings which will make your clips less natural. Hope this helps

    • @MamoAir
      @MamoAir  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Antonis. Thanks for checking my video. Unfortunately, in my experience, all the filters I have personally used added some tint to the image. I have been using for the past years the variable ND fikter 82mm by Hoya and I am quite happy with it. I shoot all my videos with 1 single filter. Even this video you watched. Consider to subscribe for more, we never know I will get to review some nice filters in the near future 😆

    • @matthewphillips5483
      @matthewphillips5483 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Don't forget to get ND filters that have IR protection as the BM cameras are vulnerable to IR waves when an ND filter is on. IR pollution is tricky, if not impossible, to remove in post without degrading your skin tones.

      @@matthewphillips5483 Having tested my camera dozens of times with a spot meter. This gave me 9.1 stops above middle gray with the Pocket 6k Pro. Two, when grading with HDR in wide gamut, the zones graph tells you how many stops you have to play with, 15.5 stops. Bottom line, almost every manufacturer exaggerates their camera's dynamic range. The only one that is accurate is Alexa. When they say 14 1/2 stops, that is correct. Even Blackmagic exaggerates the Ursa G2's DR. But for some strange reason, they underestimate their Pocket camera's DR.

      Just something to consider, 1080p definitely can hold up, but uploading in 4K would allow a better bitrate. While the resolution may not be as big a deal as people think when doing final, but TH-cam 4K is really an excuse for TH-cam to give us better bitrate quality.
      I would be willing to bet that 1080p footage upscaled to 4K would look better on TH-cam (when played back in 4K) than the same video being uploaded in 1080p.
