I love how Vekoma solved the cracking loops that arrows track suffered from by doubling the spines at high g locations. Gotta love the dutch for embracing computer aids in their coaster designs.
Yes thank you for this! I've been waiting for a while cause it seems like everyone absolutely rags on this thing. Good to see someone who bucks the trend.
Fun fact: Not only is Goudurix a play on words on the french phrase "Le gout du risque" but it's also the name of one of the characthers in the comic. He's essentially the nephew of the chief of Asterix's village and he's the Savage teenager stereotype. Although he no longer really appears anymore, he used to be à much more prevalant characther back in the 60's, 70's and 80's which is probably part of the reason why the park named their main attraction at the time after him. And also happy new year or as we say it in french, Bonne Année!
Great video and great review! I always thought from the POVs this coaster looked smoother later in the ride which is a good thing I think and rougher earlier in the ride. I always liked Vortex at Kings Island a lot when I rode it. I never had any issues with it.
I rode this with a friend and he loved it too, because, and I quote, « it felt actually dangerous and because of that it gave me a huge adrenaline shot » 🤣
Yeah it's a rough ride, but man I love Goudurix ! I'm riding it multiple times a year since 2007 and I can confirm the retrack + new trains / padding were a nice addition. Many enthusiasts wants this ride to be demolish, I would rather love getting the Python treatment to preserve this beast of positive G force !
I mentioned this in the off ride video. I always wondered why they did not add a second loop to make the inversion count to eight. If they did that it would have had the world record for most inversions when it opened.
My experience with this ride is actually that it’s smoother up front than in the middle of the train, although I’ve not ridden the back. another VERY IMPORTANT thing to not is that if you’re over 6’1/185cm tall this ride’s restraints will not accommodate to the full length of your torso as the restraint don’t fully go over your shoulders smoothly, so they’re always pressing down quite hard AND in the front of each car you can easily bang your knees to the side of the cars as the cars have a rounded front. The perfect height for this coaster (and all coasters with old mk1200 trains) is about 5’11/180cm because you’ll perfectly fit in the restraint without discomfort and won’t experience the knee banging.
I totally agree to that, I unfortunately rode in the middle of the train and in the front of the car. I'm 6'3/191 cm. I ended up with bruises in my torso from the restraint, and some bleeding in my leg due to it hitting the curvy side of the car. I'm never riding this again 😂
@@carkinyoli1171 I’m 188cm and the back of the car is more pleasant for your legs, but as canobie said: this coaster needs vest restraints. to accommodate for people that are taller than 185cm too, something which I‘ve noticed are often forgotten that exist outside of the Netherlands lol
I was expecting you to say a bit of positive things tbh. So many coaster yt'ers are a bit....whiny when it comes to not glass smooth rides, not gonna lie, but you were always pretty much the same opinion than me with stuff I experienced. So big props for that, you can take a small little jolt without being "mimimi" xD Yeah it's rough, but there are so many coasters that are a lot worse. I actually like the trains and restrains, since my head also clears them. The placement really looks amazing and the classic industrial looking track design is just beautiful.

Yes I hope they do a Python retrack with it cause it is an iconic coaster, but you can see people headbanging while you are on the path beneath. This ride is painful.
I agree. Rode it twice in the front (2019, 2023) just to make sure it wasn’t too intense, but after this review I might give it a go in the back next time I visit the park. I do however hope they take it down instead of retracking it. In my opinion that would be a waste of money. Imagine a Lech style ride in this spot! It would give the same awesome views. With them closing National 7 this season, I do however think the next coaster will be one on the smaller/milder side and nothing like Toutatis or Goudurix, if a coaster at all.
@@CanobieCoasterthe layout is fine I agree, but if so let’s hope they have the same company that retracked Python do it and not the company that did Shaman. Imagine having Vekoma build the same ride/layout but next gen though 🤤
This does look like a fun ride and I really enjoy viper, so if it’s anything like that one, then I’ll definitely enjoy this one too. I don’t know if it looks better than viper, though. That’s probably my favorite arrow Looper at the moment.

Thank you very much for the comprehensive analysis of the ride and I'm glad you mentioned the successful Python retracking which I have been trying to tell people about for a while. From what I can see of the ride, and from you review, I think my biggest complaint would be the shallow angle of the first drop. Demon at Great America has a 54 degree straight drop that delivers strong airtime in the back car. I was curious after you spoke of the drop angle being a stated 64 degrees. Last year I felt the ride had insanely strong vibrations, that gave me strong headache. It was like someone had me in a head lock and rubbed their knuckles on my scalp. If you're on the shorter side, I can totally understand why you may find Goudurix unbearable because this coaster... A) is glass smooth. B) is mostly smooth. C) is far from smooth.
I completely disagree. I rode it a few days ago and it sits comfortable in my 204th spot out of 204 coasters I've ridden. Also I need to notice that my shoulder were literally blue and green a few days later. And I did this ride in the third to last row, so I even sat in a position not far away from the one you recommend
If you watch my back row POV, you'll see the heads of taller riders jostling around, but not how they are not smacking into anything. For me, that's key. But again if you're shorter, you probably would hit your head. Second, I have only ridden Goudurix in the back car. Most coasters tend to be smoother up front, but maybe Goudurix...
Well, I'm glad you had a good experience with this Coaster. Sadly, I rode it in the 90's and I found it rough, slow, boring and poorly profiled. To each his own.
Really wish it gets the python treatment, that ride is gorgeous, my first coaster with inversion and it is a legend here, prolly one of the most important ones for french enthusiasts. Really wish they can do something great with it, it could become one of the most liked retro coaster there
I can testify that Goudurix is much more manageable towards the back of the train. If you sit in the front you are forced into the inversions much too fast, and as a result the roughness feels exaggerated. It was extremely unpleasant at the front.
Canobie Coaster would say: More recently, it placed in the bottom 10 of TPR's Coaster Poll. But is it really that bad? Not for me. So why am I immune to this ride's suffering? Canobie Coaster would say: Compared to the Arrow loopers like Viper at Six Flags Magic Mountain, Viper at Six Flags Darien Lake, the defunct Vortex at Kings Island, this ride is better than most of those Arrow loopers. Goudurix has far better pacing, more oomph, and honestly... A) It tracks smoother. B) It tracks similarly. C) It tracks rougher.

Tbh, even though it’s the roughest coaster I have ever ridden, I think there’s worse than that. Its pretty intense too.
I genuinely like it.
I've had tolerable rides in back.
Well, I'm glad you had a good experience with this Coaster. Sadly, I rode it in the 90's and I found it rough, slow, boring and poorly profiled. To each his own.
Sorry to hear that.
Its not that bad ive rode it 5 times when i went and the only painful bit was the corkscrews thats not due to roughness its due to the hangtime
Glad I'm not the only one who enjoys it.
I love how Goudurix review passe to "world's worst coaster" to "world most underrated coaster"
I never found it awful.
@@CanobieCoaster me neither🤷♂
I rode it once in the front row and it was the 2nd worse coaster I have ever ridden (worst is viking coaster in EL). I will never ride that one again.
Ouch!
Really wish it gets the python treatment, that ride is gorgeous, my first coaster with inversion and it is a legend here, prolly one of the most important ones for french enthusiasts. Really wish they can do something great with it, it could become one of the most liked retro coaster there
I'd love a retrack.
Controversial opinion, when I visited Parc Asterix this year it was my favourite coaster at the park.
Yes, I enjoyed it more than Toutatis.
Wow, definitely a hot take.
I can testify that Goudurix is much more manageable towards the back of the train. If you sit in the front you are forced into the inversions much too fast, and as a result the roughness feels exaggerated. It was extremely unpleasant at the front.
That makes sense.
its not better than Mario Kart, though
also are you NOT gonna do an individual review of it?
I don't have enough footage to do one, sorry.
Will you hit your head if you are 5feet and 3ich
Depends how much height is in your upper torso.
‘Coaster Studios has sent 100 messages’
I know not everyone loves this ride.
From what I know this is a wild take lol
I know I'm in the minority.
Give it vests and it low-key is a top custom looper in Europe.
That would be great.
@@CanobieCoasterIt might even be as good as stuff like Smiler, Dragon Khan, La Atracción de Acero, and the 10 inverting Intamin loopers.
But How Tall Are You? i Am About 1.70M
5'10
in Meters. Not in inches
@@ThemeParkEnthusiastNL178 cm
I need to check my height.
Glad you got a good ride on this coaster, but at the same time, Goudurix is a prime example of a coaster that is famous for all the wrong reasons.
I would love for the Python treatment here. The layout is good.
@@CanobieCoaster Agreed, CSM should retrack this!
A point for each inversion 😂
Coincidence
WHY NOT 0
I genuinely like it.
Those transitions look like they were designed by someone playing RollerCoaster Tycoon.
Yup lol
This coaster hurt my neck really badly
Sorry to hear that.
I beg to differ. I think Steel Force is the most underrated coaster
That's another underrated one.
It's located in America.
@@elevatoralarmcoasterandarc1214 wdym?
Yeah, there’s no way that’s 64 degrees. Mid 50s probably
Possibly
The definition of not reridable coaster, but once i like it yea
I rode it a few times in a row.
it’s perfectly rated but ok
I see so many people bash this ride.
@@CanobieCoaster probably because its bad... or just extremely rough
This thing left me traumatized
Oh no!
treason
Sorry, I actually like it.
@@CanobieCoaster lol I’m just messing with you
The same guy who doesn't like the best boomerang likes arguably the worst coaster lol
Which is the best one?
@@CanobieCoaster Definitely the boomerang.
Canobie Coaster would say:
More recently, it placed in the bottom 10 of TPR's Coaster Poll. But is it really that bad? Not for me. So why am I immune to this ride's suffering? I think there are three things that need to be considered.
First, I'm tall enough that my head clears the top of the over-the-shoulder harness. This means I cannot get any headbanging. This improved a lot of Arrow loopers for me as I got older. If you're on the shorter side, I can totally understand why you may find Goudurix unbearable because this ride...
A) is glass smooth.
B) is mostly smooth.
C) is far from smooth.
C
People just take another one's word for it and start saying it's absolute garbage, the headbanging isnt bad even at the front
I was pleasantly surprised.

See the review.
B (for me at least)
What does the word "unbearable" mean? What do you think?
Not tolerable.
