What breed pigeons do you keep.

Hi Terry. We don't keep a breed or strain of pigeons as such. We try to keep as many good ones as we can regardless of names however the birds we have at the moment originate from Vandenabeele, Lindelauf, Braspenning and Steveninck. We try to keep our own best racers for breeding once they've shown promise and then pair them to sons or daughters of good racers from other lofts.

@@carwynharrisracingpigeons9387 I’ve been involved with racing pigeons all my life but I don’t have any myself,my son in law races them.I’ve raced them for several people when they’ve been on holiday or I’ll etc. When your dad bought them from Derek Nichols be mentioned they were sprint pigeons, that’s why I asked.I’ve been to Geoff Kirklands loft and Albert Witty’s,and Blackpool twice. It’s an interest I can’t shake off.All the best for you and your dad with the birds.

Yes some families have a better record in races up to 350 miles and so are referred to as sprint/middle distance pigeons and others are better suited to 400 mile+ races. It's a fascinating hobby from breeding to racing the birds.
