Your story is exactly why the modern church is in the state that it's in. Sin is openly tolerated, permitted and condoned. There is good reason for the statement that Jesus made... "The way is narrow, few there will be that find it".

Haven’t we all sinned and don’t we continue to sin ? This is the crux of the argument on the part of many who are called to repentance, like this young couple. Something else comes to mind. They use the scriptures to defend themselves with quotes like” Let him who is without sin cast the first stone” and the verses about the log in your own eye being larger than what they consider to be the speck in their eye. The leadership of the Church , as well as the Body of the Church is being sorely tested.

@@sharondoan1447 absolutely, which means we need to lovingly hold fellow believers accountable. The verse you quoted is used by many to avoid addressing our own, or anyone else's sin. This verse is about not being hypocritical in holding others accountable while still willfully sinning. Thank you for the dialogue sister. :) too often conversation about these topics is so hostile. I left a church for a similar reason. A married deacon was having an affair with the pianist. Everybody knew and the Pastor said just to pray for them and show them love. No rebuke. No consequences. I didn't want to be in a church that would grieve the Holy Spirit. No Holy Spirit= no protection. I didn't feel safe.

I believe one must help them by speaking the truth as you did. And by offering spiritual help as you did.
It may seem mean to some. But they should see this situation as God sees it. Not by our worldly feelings.
A little leaven leavens the whole lump is a metaphor the apostle Paul uses to compare the effects of false teaching in the church to the results of yeast in bread dough (Galatians 5:9).
Many of these false teachers will never address what you addressed brother. They would rather seek mens approval rather than teach God's Truth on the matter.
The sins of others can infiltrate the hearts and minds of other individual believers. The entire church can be contaminated if it is not addressed.
Young men and women in the church will believe it is ok to do the same without getting married.
Using God is Love as a justification is twisted. It is true God is Love.
But LOVE never compromises the TRUTH.
There have been some modern so called Christian churches that allowed many people living in sexual sin to be part of the congregation. Soon they began to accept the sin. And proudly display signs and messages that are against the Word of God.
They even have leaders, priest, and shepherds all preaching their watered down interpretation of scriptures. Feel good service for the flesh. While quenching the Holy Spirit of true Manna.
      Those churches compromise.
They do not stand firm in the WORD of God.
Many so called believers will be shocked to hear Jesus ask them, Why did you deny Me?
The will tell Jesus, Lord I never denied You.
And He will respond: Everytime you walked against the WORD of God; you denied Me. Everytime you spoke and taught others to walk contrary to the WORD of God; You denied Me.
Worldly ways and practices are always infiltrating the hearts and minds of individual believers in these churches. By one person the entire church can be contaminated.
A rotten apple spoils the barrel.
As an example this person's willful sin is the rotten apple. It only takes one bad thing, element, etc., to ruin the entire group, situation, project, etc.
We are to correct brothers and sisters who stray from His Word and are walking in sin.
We should first address the sin with the brother or sister. Try to teach and correct them.
The purpose of church discipline is not to condemn but to restore and protect the purity of the church. It’s essential to approach these situations with love, grace, and a desire for reconciliation.
      Hebrews 12:6:
"For those whom the Lord loves He disciplines, And He scourges every son whom He receives.”
      2 Timothy 4
"Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction."
      2 Timothy 3:16:
"All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness;"
Matthew 18:15-20: This passage offers the biblical pattern of reconciliation regarding correction of a person who has sinned against you.
Galatians 6:1, Titus 3:10-11, Luke 17:3-4, and 1 Timothy 5:1-2 also talk about bringing the sin of fellow Christians to their attention, either when they knowingly sin, or when they unknowingly sin.
When seeking to correct another Christian, it’s important to speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15). The goal is to speak what is true in a way that shows care and love.
It’s a part of biblical love and sometimes necessary to offer biblical correction. However, it should be done with gentleness, patience, and humility.
      What if they don't repent?
Matthew 18:15-20 gives clear instructions on how to handle sinning believers within the church. If someone refuses to stop sinning, they are to be put out of the church.
1 Corinthians 5 discusses church discipline and dealing with sin in the church.
Let us pray that they turn away from their sins. That they ask God for forgiveness. And that Jesus will bring them back to the fold.

And when you stated that you had this, it brought tears to my eyes. I will pray for you brother and ask that our gracious Lord heal you.
I wish there was more I could do, but I know that there is no greater power than what the Lord has to keep you and bless you.
So I will continue praying for you.
I'll also pray that your soul is easy from the evil comments that were made against you, as I find you a very genuine man of God. May God bless you and keep you, and make his face shine upon you every day of your life. In Jesus name I pray.

He wants no accountability for what he is doing and turns his sin back on you, it is a form of attack to deflect away from himself. Is he really a Christian? I lovingly had a conversation with someone in our church today about what she has said to me. Her responses were that she gaslighted me by saying that isn't what she said. I know for sure she said these things. She took no accountability at all. And she is a pastoral care person in our church. She threw in my face I spent 2 hours listening to your life and that I never asked about her. She had been messaging me to meet for coffee when I'm ready, I took up the offer under a pastoral care meeting. She obviously took note of how much of her time she was giving to me. She is now exposed, no humility, attacked me, then implied she was sacrificing herself for me. I'm shocked at so called Christians in the church who hear God's word, don't apply it and are in church for other reasons. There is no way in a million years that I trust her now, would never let her pastoral care me again. I will forgive her, I choose to because Jesus want me to. I am sick of narcissists in the church. True we need to be wise as a snake and innocent as a dove. I spoke to an elder about her, she needs dealing with and if she doesn't repent to be stood down from her position as a pastoral carer. These people damage the body of Christ

I agree with you on this matter!!!! The blatant disregard of the bible in church gatherings is common where we live. In fact, those who tell the truth are excluded. Instead of excluding the sinning person they are excluding the ones who expose the sin. This person who refuses to repent is also demonstrating his narcissism by attacking the one who calls out sin instead of confessing his sin to be cleansed. Narcissists always attempt to take the spotlight off of their sin and place it on those who are not sinning. This is the clue and a big one, that they do not go to prayer, they do not act ashamed but rather they attack. It is possible this person is not born again because obviously, he lacks the fruit of the Spirit of Christ, love, joy, peace, gentleness, kindness and self control. God said you shall know them by their fruit, his fruit is rotten, he needs to become born again.

I also know someone who is living in similar circumstances. We are still friends and catch up regularly but I've not seen him in church for at least a few years. I believe God creates opportunities for us to meet so I can impart what I've learned. It's clear that the believer will either come under the conviction of the holy spirit and repent, or in the case of my friend here, feel ashamed and try to hide.
You are right on point with this topic Matt. I hope that one day I can muster up the courage to talk with him about this very important issue that is now falling by the wayside. That's not to say that I condone sin, nor that I wouldn't call it out. But to say to someone that they are not welcome.....I'll leave that conviction to the Holy Spirit. Thank God that He met me where I was at backnin the day - sin and all. And thank God that He continues to, because I'm still very much a work in progress some 20 years later. Thank God that He knows me so well, that He knows what needs to be dealt with, and how and in what order. God knows me so much better than I do myself - so I'm really not sure how anyone else could know any better. I have wonderful people in my life that help provide direction, but do so with brotherly love, concern and encouragement. But they leave judgement to the Lord, and they certainly do not turn me away. And as imperfect as I am, God uses me inside and outside of church to reach people. So if someone had told me I was not welcome, I'd hate to think what path that might have set me on - not just for me, but for all the others God has used me in His service for. I watched this video a few times to really consider the points being made, with as much of an open mind possible. But, I still am of the opinion that I would be very, very careful about saying to someone that they are not welcome. I think I will continue to leave that to the Holy Spirit.

The New Testament tells us repeatedly to either have nothing to do with unrepentive sinners in the church or, as in the case of sexual sin, throw them out of the church, as sin is like a septic sore which, undealt with, infects the whole church.
This is why the church is in such an appalling state because pastors have failed to do this and instead have preached the false gospel of feel good humanitarianism instead of the true gospel of both grace AND justice.
This person's attack on you is a spiritual attack to discourage you and to inflict guilt. Remind yourself constantly of who you are and whose you are.
    God bless you.

That person doesn't even know the word of God, Corinthians literally taught this. His aggression is revealing the extent of feeling shame. So they lash out. But everyone answers to God for our actions in future. Such a sorry person, he struggles under the yoke of sin, living in darkness and being angry at light.

I'm sure the money changers in the temple were angry when Jesus overturned their tables and whipped them. There's a point where we must stand up for the glory of God and HIs church over being loving to those who willfully would pollute or stain it with their sin. Love for God and His holy Name requires no less.

    Hi Matt
Knowing this person had an attack on you while you were simply spreading the word of the Bible really saddens me. This Christian channel stands to Bring the Truth of the Gospel and bring people to the Lord.I’m so proud of you for standing your ground. John 8. 7-11. In part says he who is with sin throw the first stone at this woman. Yes we are all sinners, but must repent, and do our best to not continually and purposefully live a life you know is against God’s word.
Brilliant message and explanation of the scriptures. 🙏❤️

You’re right - the majority of those who claim to be Christian, would not like Jesus at all. He’s controversial, truth is controversial. There are people who claim to tell “their truth”. I don’t even understand that way of thinking.
As for you, you are working. Making TH-cam videos is a job that a lot of people do and you’re good at it, but more importantly you follow Christ’s standard, not many can do that.
So many people live in defacto relationships nowadays that it’s considered “the norm”. Society has turned so far away from God that they don’t even know what sin is anymore and that’s scary! I have family members who live this way and are non-believers, but they are in my prayers, because only Christ can give them a heart of flesh.
The Lord tells us that the path is narrow and He wasn’t kidding!

Wow!! Well I feel for both of you. Matt, you do work, you do God's work on TH-cam and maybe even other social media platforms. I can imagine it's hard work, exhausting at times.
God, put that subject on your heart which struck a spiritual chord with the other young man, you spoke God's truth and he is speaking to that chap. Sadly, you got his anger when he should be repenting to God...... praying for you both. I hope he marries soon and returns to the lord.
Matt, you keep doing what you do. Love in Jesus.

You have shown true brotherly love in Christ to this man. You loved him enough to point out his error, so you are loving him much more than his church leaders.
Also, you are working for God during your health issue, so you certainly are not lazy.
I pray this man repents of his ways soon, because his behaviour could also pull others into sin.
    Bless you Matt xx

We attended a church where a young couple started coming. A few weeks later they were put on the worship team as singers before the preaching started. They were not married, but living together as husband and wife. They couldn't get married because she was already married to someone else. I asked the Pastor concerning them being on the worship team, "why did you do that?" He said, "keep them busy and keep them coming." There were several other things that pastor did that caused us to eventually leave that fellowship. It was so hard. We loved those people, but since the new pastor/bully came on board, we couldn't stay.

People who talk about "God's love" often just don't take sin seriously enough. They believe we should just "be ourselves" and God will simply forgive any and everything we do. However, we do need to repent and confess. You said nothing wrong! Sometimes the truth is hard to hear.

  • @benjaminofperrin

Revelation 3:9 says "As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent". Unfortunately people don't seem to understand that to love someone is to call them to repentance. You did nothing wrong, you are calling out sin in love as you should. Keep going and be encouraged. The road is narrow but the reward is worth it.

Our church leaders spent two years allowing an unmarried cohabitating couple to approach the Communion rail and receive Communion. In the LCMS a visitor must confirm with the Pastor that they are Lutheran in order to properly receive Communion. This is called,” protecting the visitor from hurting themselves by committing a sin” because their view of Communion may be different than ours. Both Pastors were well aware of the situation because the woman had confessed the situation in private . The couple is in their 70’s both widowed within the past three years. Have attended this church for years. Only a few people knew about the cohabitation until later in the second year, because of a calculated duplicity on their part. . Our Pastors knew early on. Whenever a sermon was preached about sexual sins the woman was deeply offended and spoke to me in angry terms about it. She felt the sermons were directed at the two of them and it was unfair. I believe this is a typical scenario. They lived this life in front of their young grandchildren without apology or concern about their example. Now they are married. This is the Church today. What do we all suppose the children of our churches will learn from all this?

Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

God is like the captain of a ship. The captain is *responsible* for everything, even though most problems will be caused by someone else (a crew member) and also fixed by someone else (a crewmember). If God is omnipotent and omniscient, and Adam is entirely the product of God's creative power, then it cannot be Adam's "fault" that Adam did what Adam was created to do. It is possible that Adam is not exactly the product of God's creative power and it is possible that the "omnis" are not what you think they are.

Actually church abandoning someone in the church who willfully sins and doesn't come to repentance is also a loving act. It is protecting those people in the church. Remember when Jesus sent the 70 off to evangelize. He said if a town doesn't accept you then shake the dust of that town off your shoes and walk away. In this case the sinner needs to walk away. God will always protect His own people before those who refuse to bow to Him.

God bless you Matt. You are preaching sound doctrine from the Bible. Don't let this person get under your skin. Your message got too close to this person and they got burned. The Holy Spirit convicted him/her but instead of repenting this individual dug in their heels and personally attacked you. Instead of confessing their sin they chose the wide road, the road of the world. I pray this person realizes they are walking on the wrong road because if not they might hear Jesus say He never knew them one day. You are 100% correct but please don't say you don't work. Preparing and making these videos is hard work and as someone who also has suffered from a chronic illness for many years I know how exhausting even the simplest tasks can be. Take care of yourself. We love you and want the best for you. I will continue to pray for you and also this unrepentant person. That they apologize to you and course correct before it is too late. 🙏🙏🙏✝️✝️✝️

To the person who made a foolish and an uncalled for comment against brother Matt, I would like to humbly share with him a saying spoken where I come from:
“ Make your words sweet , you might need to swallow them at a later date!”
Which I guarantee you, you will if you haven’t already!
Praying for you , for God to open the eyes of your heart so you do not indulge in your bitterness that can manifest itself in unwise action towards others.Repent and take your pain to The Throne where The Lord of forgiveness sits eagerly waiting to heal all our wounds !
