Copperbeard Plot points weren't so much spoiled (well, they were, but they're so bad that I prefer hearing them versus seeing them myself) as the shockingly bad filmmaking, which I enjoy hearing about. That, and the now famous jar of piss from Lex Luthor.
There's nothing black about these markets. You can openly go there and contract viruses escaped from high security labs. It's actually super easy, barely an inconvenience.

Feels like yesterday. I remember watching this right after I’d seen BVS in theaters. I was so pissed about how the movie turned out and this episode pretty much covered the main reasons why. Hard to believe that was almost five years ago.

The Dark Knight Returns’s ending fight with Superman works because Miller spent the whole book setting up their contrasting ideals caused by their different views and roles in a complex Cold War world, and how these two characters already have a relationship spanning decades. That fight had 20 years of in-universe buildup. Miller’s Batman is not a hero, he’s not an Iron Man. It’s not an Avengers type story, it’s an Old Man Logan type story, and you can’t put that character in what was supposed to be the DCEU’s first Avengers movie. You don’t put Old Man Logan in your very first X-men movie.
I would also point out that in "The Dark Knight Returns", neither Superman nor Batman wanted to kill each other. Superman was following orders to stop Batman, and Batman wanted to beat up Superman so that Superman would always remember that he could be beaten.
The hardest I've ever laughed in my life at a movie theatre is the boob punch scene in Superbad. The second hardest I've ever laughed was this movie when they showed Metropolis and Gotham City SIDE BY SIDE. I swear to God that was a Simpsons gag some editor snuck in somehow.

Here's the part that always got me with Superman. He knows. He knows he's fucking terrifying, he knows that what he can do scares people, so how he deals with that is to be the best example of Mr. Truth Justice and The American Way, he smiles at everyone, rescues cats from trees, talks people down from killing themselves because he knows there's more to life than that and that's what makes people like him, he's supposed to be the heart. He takes the hits so his team doesn't have to because he knows that he can. He doesn't show up when people are begging to be saved by slowly floating over them and looking sad. He would save them all as fast as he can, tell them it's going to be alright, flash them a big smile and zip off to help someone else who needs it.
Which is fair enough man aye, that's a smart thing to do, assess a situation before you jump right in; But think about if that scene was done in the Justice League animated show (which everyone compares it to I know but there's a merit for it) first thing you can bet that Superman would do in that show is start talking to the folk as he arrived, letting them know they were gonna be alright, he was gonna help them etc. Now compare that to floating there in moot silence looking as mortified as the people you're there to save. Y'know what I mean man?

This is without a doubt one of the best videos RLM has ever produced, which is incredible bc they've remained consistent for years at this point. But this video stands out. I come back to it a couple times a year for that reason

You weren't supposed to question it! For MoS, people complained Superman didn't do enough to protect people during the fight, so they made it painfully obvious in BvS that no one is in danger. If we hear of emergency filming for Justice League tomorrow that just consists of random people throughout the ages all saying Lex's line, I'm blaming you.

I'm starting to think the Joker is actually a really easy character to portray, because not only has (almost) every actor that's portrayed him done an amazing job, but even actors playing other villains (Jim Carrey Riddler, Tommy Lee Jones' Two-Face, Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor, Ewan McGregor in the Birds of Prey movie) seem to do a good job at playing the Joker as well. Maybe it's just not a difficult role to play in the slightest (and yet somehow Jared Leto managed to fuck it up)
I think it's because joker as a character is really flexible and most professional actors can find a way to interpret him in a manner that fits their acting style.
Just put on something purple even it’s just a tank top, then paint your face with a hint of green in your hair, laugh maniacally in a high pitch for no reason while maybe throwing in a George Orwell Quote and then have your mom make you a joker costume

To clarify, saying that Marvel has done a good Superman with him is as bad as saying that DC has done a good Captain America with Superman, they may share a few similarities but at the end of the day they are different characters, and that's where my problem lies and not on the quality of Captain America. As a matter of fact I quite like the guy.

Hmm not really, its pretty commonly known that the flash has time travel capabilities. Time travel and the speed force are like the 2 main things that almost every good flash storyline is about.
That's because Rich has the exact same ability to run faster than the speed of light and traveled into the future and back. So he knows by first hand experience that it was so.
A couple of weeks before BvS came out, I just randomly realized that B and S both had moms named Martha. It was a neat coincidence, but I shrugged it off, because no official media had yet made a big deal out of it, so why should I? Ah, the innocence of youth...
That save Martha scene really piss me off especially when Louis had to run after him and explain to Batman Who Martha is to Superman and I was like Superman couldn't have said that himself I obviously knew Bruce didn't know that Superman had A mom also named Martha he thought he was saying that about his mom which of course Bruce will of course going to freak out but Louis being there made no sense that Martha scenes sucks after that Batman goes and kills people what the fuck!
Mr. Plinkett needs to actually do a proper review of this movie. DC was boasting in a press release about how they were concerned about Marvel fan's 'not getting it, since BvsS was a thinkin' man's super-hero movie'. And uhm....yeah, Dawn of Justice did not fit into that category. Not even by the loosest definition available.

Marvel does make dumb, forgettable, formulaic movies. You're right about that. Zack and these writers put together a fascinating story and screenplay in BVS that is so much more deep, thoughtful and intelligent than what Marvel does. The non-Marvel Studios movies like Spider-Man 2 and the best X-Men films are the only superhero movies to come close to this intelligence level.
As a woman, I completely agree with Jesse Eisenberg’s unconvinced head nod to that bs fluff Gal Gadot was spouting. “A huge opportunity to show the strong, beautiful side of women, *finally.*” I don’t even know what she’s talking about.

My favourite part was the politics, at the big White House government building, that really sold me on all this being real their wasn’t enough diversity with the government officials people though, it’s not proper representation of our world. I’m just glad we can star a conversation about more gay men in politics, that would be very good for eveyone, because equally is better than bigotry! 3/5 stars
That photographer that gets executed by the terrorists in the beginning is Jimmy Olsen. Snyder's explanation for this is that "there's no room for Jimmy but we can still have fun with him, right?" -literal quote. Fuck this movie.
Only now re-watching this did I notice that the Beatles' "Martha" plays 24:43. This is so beautifully subtle that in this moment I have the goofiest smile goddammit!
I would like to see Superman & Batman films as a period pieces. That would work. Set it in the 30’s and you could do a shiny happy Superman and noir Batman.
And that could be really funny and interesting if you make them truly bizarre opposites in terms of social class and power levels. Nearly two different genres, type of thing. Superman is a young-up-and-comer, with big dreams for the big city, taking along his big heart from Kansas. He has lazy-omnipotent power, so he's generally an optimist who tries to help people and sees the good in everyone. You know, in a 30's way. "Ya know, a young buck like you oughta work in the newsies." A poor but plucky reporter who always does the right thing. Batman is an old money-turned-cynical Private Investigator type, the privileged but now cynical rich kid dealing unsuccessfully with the dirty gangsters who have eroded his town now that Prohibition is in effect. He sees dirty cops, dirty criminals, dirty workers, dirty owners. He feels like nobody is clean, including himself. He has money and power and street smarts and karate, but he's becoming more and more jaded about the human condition and what to do about it. A wealthy man struggling to fight a losing battle against an increasingly dark world. Now why would they clash? *THAT* would be a movie that I'd want to watch.
Ironically, Frank Miller (who wrote many of the stories this film mis-adapts and references) hates the concept of "realistic" superheroes, or the "what if?" scenario this film is built around.
Yeah, despite being known for his "dark and gritty" interpretations of Daredevil and Batman, Miller never actually abandoned the fantasticism and humor associated with traditional comic book stories. The Dark Knight Returns featured the Joker riding around on a flying doll that shouted insults and spewed toxic laughing gas.
The fantastic elements weren't abandoned. Did you not notice kryptonite gas bombs, Doomsday, Batwing, batarangs, heat vision, time traveling Flash, 5000-year-old Amazon women, etc.? Nolan's movies were limited to the "realistic" elements, not Snyder's who FULLY embraces all the comic book elements. He even was the first director to not give Batman a black suit. The ridiculous, bogus criticisms of this movie never end.
jedijones Sure he didn't ABANDON those elements. But that's precisely the problem. He's telling this story set in "our" world (cameos by real-world celebrities reacting to the Superman crisis, real world chains, etc.) but without conforming to the real world's rules. He's trying to make a silly, over-the-top comic book movie set in a sci-fi/fantasy world while also telling a "Watchmen"-like "what if heroes existed in our real world?" story at the same time
If the story takes elements from 'The Dark Knight Returns' comic series and had Frank Miller as a consultant, chances are *Spoilers:* The new Joker turns out to a psychotic Dick Grayson w/a super fast healing factor

The Dark Knight Returns’s ending fight with Superman works because Miller spent the whole book setting up their contrasting ideals caused by their different views and roles in a complex Cold War world, and how these two characters already have a relationship spanning decades. That fight had 20 years of in-universe buildup. Miller’s Batman is not a hero, he’s not an Iron Man. It’s not an Avengers type story, it’s an Old Man Logan type story, and you can’t put that character in what was supposed to be the DCEU’s first Avengers movie. You don’t put Old Man Logan in your very first X-men movie.

Here's the part that always got me with Superman.
He knows. He knows he's fucking terrifying, he knows that what he can do scares people, so how he deals with that is to be the best example of Mr. Truth Justice and The American Way, he smiles at everyone, rescues cats from trees, talks people down from killing themselves because he knows there's more to life than that and that's what makes people like him, he's supposed to be the heart. He takes the hits so his team doesn't have to because he knows that he can.
He doesn't show up when people are begging to be saved by slowly floating over them and looking sad. He would save them all as fast as he can, tell them it's going to be alright, flash them a big smile and zip off to help someone else who needs it.

Which is fair enough man aye, that's a smart thing to do, assess a situation before you jump right in;
But think about if that scene was done in the Justice League animated show (which everyone compares it to I know but there's a merit for it) first thing you can bet that Superman would do in that show is start talking to the folk as he arrived, letting them know they were gonna be alright, he was gonna help them etc.
Now compare that to floating there in moot silence looking as mortified as the people you're there to save. Y'know what I mean man?

I'm starting to think the Joker is actually a really easy character to portray, because not only has (almost) every actor that's portrayed him done an amazing job, but even actors playing other villains (Jim Carrey Riddler, Tommy Lee Jones' Two-Face, Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor, Ewan McGregor in the Birds of Prey movie) seem to do a good job at playing the Joker as well. Maybe it's just not a difficult role to play in the slightest (and yet somehow Jared Leto managed to fuck it up)

I think it's because joker as a character is really flexible and most professional actors can find a way to interpret him in a manner that fits their acting style.

I actually want Snyder to direct Justice League. That thing is going to be epic. I mean, you basically have an egocentric hypocritical alien and a murdering psychopath founding something called the "Justice League". That's like if Hitler and Genghis Khan founded the UN. They would probably nuke entire countries from orbit using the Watchtower.
What's going to stop them going forward from just establishing a dictatorship over the world? They clearly have no qualms about murdering people or destruction.

That save Martha scene really piss me off especially when Louis had to run after him and explain to Batman Who Martha is to Superman and I was like Superman couldn't have said that himself I obviously knew Bruce didn't know that Superman had A mom also named Martha he thought he was saying that about his mom which of course Bruce will of course going to freak out but Louis being there made no sense that Martha scenes sucks after that Batman goes and kills people what the fuck!

Mr. Plinkett needs to actually do a proper review of this movie. DC was boasting in a press release about how they were concerned about Marvel fan's 'not getting it, since BvsS was a thinkin' man's super-hero movie'. And uhm....yeah, Dawn of Justice did not fit into that category. Not even by the loosest definition available.

Episode 7 was too decent to get a Plinkett review. But then again, they announced the Plinkett review before Batman v Superman came out. I think nobody thought it was going to be THAT bad.

Plinkett is best on disappointing movies. Everyone knew GB (2016) would be disappointing. The Best of the Worst review is fine with me.
Marvel does make dumb, forgettable, formulaic movies. You're right about that. Zack and these writers put together a fascinating story and screenplay in BVS that is so much more deep, thoughtful and intelligent than what Marvel does. The non-Marvel Studios movies like Spider-Man 2 and the best X-Men films are the only superhero movies to come close to this intelligence level.
As a woman, I completely agree with Jesse Eisenberg’s unconvinced head nod to that bs fluff Gal Gadot was spouting. “A huge opportunity to show the strong, beautiful side of women, *finally.*” I don’t even know what she’s talking about.

My favourite part was the politics, at the big White House government building, that really sold me on all this being real their wasn’t enough diversity with the government officials people though, it’s not proper representation of our world. I’m just glad we can star a conversation about more gay men in politics, that would be very good for eveyone, because equally is better than bigotry! 3/5 stars
That photographer that gets executed by the terrorists in the beginning is Jimmy Olsen. Snyder's explanation for this is that "there's no room for Jimmy but we can still have fun with him, right?" -literal quote.

Only now re-watching this did I notice that the Beatles' "Martha" plays 24:43. This is so beautifully subtle that in this moment I have the goofiest smile goddammit!
I like that Mike's a Beatles fan, its something that can't be rebooted, so he'll never be wholly consumed by his cynicism.

I would like to see Superman & Batman films as a period pieces. That would work. Set it in the 30’s and you could do a shiny happy Superman and noir Batman.
And that could be really funny and interesting if you make them truly bizarre opposites in terms of social class and power levels. Nearly two different genres, type of thing.
Superman is a young-up-and-comer, with big dreams for the big city, taking along his big heart from Kansas. He has lazy-omnipotent power, so he's generally an optimist who tries to help people and sees the good in everyone. You know, in a 30's way. "Ya know, a young buck like you oughta work in the newsies." A poor but plucky reporter who always does the right thing.
Batman is an old money-turned-cynical Private Investigator type, the privileged but now cynical rich kid dealing unsuccessfully with the dirty gangsters who have eroded his town now that Prohibition is in effect. He sees dirty cops, dirty criminals, dirty workers, dirty owners. He feels like nobody is clean, including himself. He has money and power and street smarts and karate, but he's becoming more and more jaded about the human condition and what to do about it. A wealthy man struggling to fight a losing battle against an increasingly dark world.
Now why would they clash?
*THAT* would be a movie that I'd want to watch.
You know, I think Samurai Cop has a stronger narrative thrust than Batman v. Superman. No Joke.
Ironically, Frank Miller (who wrote many of the stories this film mis-adapts and references) hates the concept of "realistic" superheroes, or the "what if?" scenario this film is built around.
Yeah, despite being known for his "dark and gritty" interpretations of Daredevil and Batman, Miller never actually abandoned the fantasticism and humor associated with traditional comic book stories. The Dark Knight Returns featured the Joker riding around on a flying doll that shouted insults and spewed toxic laughing gas.
The fantastic elements weren't abandoned. Did you not notice kryptonite gas bombs, Doomsday, Batwing, batarangs, heat vision, time traveling Flash, 5000-year-old Amazon women, etc.? Nolan's movies were limited to the "realistic" elements, not Snyder's who FULLY embraces all the comic book elements. He even was the first director to not give Batman a black suit. The ridiculous, bogus criticisms of this movie never end.
jedijones Sure he didn't ABANDON those elements. But that's precisely the problem. He's telling this story set in "our" world (cameos by real-world celebrities reacting to the Superman crisis, real world chains, etc.) but without conforming to the real world's rules. He's trying to make a silly, over-the-top comic book movie set in a sci-fi/fantasy world while also telling a "Watchmen"-like "what if heroes existed in our real world?" story at the same time
