Can we also appreciate Calamity Bowser's constant presence looming in the center of the map? Always there slowly spinning and rising up before he finally awakens and turns the world into a nightmareish hellscape in an effort to kill you. Such an amazing event in itself!
Maybe the first time but watching the same exact event happen like 20 or 30 times during your playthrough gets pretty old.

@@SevenPr1me repetition isn't always a bag thing in video games. Assuming the things you're repeating are enjoyable. The bowser fight for me is just boring and mindless. Not to mention WAY too frequent. The worst part though is that it puts a pause on the actual fun parts until you beat him.

I mean, when you have half a Mario game's worth of content in that level, I think it's fair to say Bowser's Fury uses it's space well.
It's a large Mario level, but also really small for open world standards. The world is pretty dense.

I mean if it comes out this holiday it'll have been 4.5 years since the original (roughly 4 years flat if we assume development started right after The Champion's Ballad released) and they had the benefit of not having to create the engine and systems from scratch (which from what I glean is what took the bulk of BOTW's dev time).

Edit: Did not expect so many responses. While I admit Odyssey has flaws, so does every game. And I personally enjoyed it. But I can also understand why other people don't like it (very basic story, a lot of moons are super easy to get, not much of a post-game, etc). I just had a lot of fun with it because I hadn't played a 3D mario game since Sunshine (I never got a chance to play Galaxy) and because I first got to play it thanks to a friend I had, so it has good memories associated with it for me.

I think Yonka Dingo's(Plessie's) implementation into the game is one of my favorite things. Riding around between the islands is just so fast, and he isn't out of control. Also his role in the final fight is really fun. I hope he makes it into the next full on game.

It's cool that they're big, but there aren't any new mechanical gimmicks, or really anything outside of standard fare from a well made Odyssey box fight. The novelty is nice, but for how often you see him, it's bound to wear off. He's also comically unthreatening when you aren't ready to fight him yet. Even if he manages to hit you, which I found somewhat rare even after completely ignoring all attacks, you can just immediately grab a power up and heal right up. He literally set me back more by being a distraction and interrupting what I was doing than actually attacking me. I don't blame Dunky at all for leaving him out, he's not really what made this experience great

Whatever vision they previously had during the NES era Nintendo will never put out a 3D Mario game that is mechanically challenging because children need to be able to play it and win.

I dunno, I don't find it particularly fun compared to 3D world or Oddysey. It's incredibly annoying being interrupted literally every 5 minutes for a big 5 minute long unskippable boss sequence. So literally 50% of the time you can't just do what you want and explore, you have to go and find a wall to hide behind so you don't get blasted with Bowser's fire breath. You might as well go browse reddit for the 5 minutes that takes, until it's finally over again and you're allowed to play again. What's the point of making a big explorable sandbox and then not letting you explore it?

Watching your videos it is clear that you live within these beautiful worlds and that you want your fans to see it the same way you do. You show the good and the bad, yet still, there is no bias, just a pure view of how beautiful a game can be when it is looked at a certain way. That makes me wanna try these games, live trough that world, and make my own opinion about it.
It maybe sounds a bit cheesy but you have opened my eyes and my heart to these games, even though I previously might have dismissed them as a game only a child would play, but I finally realized that sometimes that is what makes a game great, and it is all thanks to you.

Dunkey, I love your work but I have a complaint. You accurately describe the music at 2:53 as a waltz, but then cut to a video of an orchestra where the conductor is clearly conducting a 4 pattern instead of in 3 or 1, as one would for this kind of music (probably 1 honestly). I know it's a minor detail, but it has a detrimental impact on my enjoyment of this video. Other than that, pretty good!

@@daonlyowner6631 Well, Nintendo didn't really show anything about the game yet except for the teaser, and that one seems like it's only there to let the fans know that the game is in development and will come out someday. Considering Nintendo never went more into detail about the sequel, I just think it's unlikely that they will announce a nearby release date when they do for the first time. I'm super excited for the game myself, but if we want the sequel to be as good as the first game, Nintendo should really take their time.
