So built-in hub means, that you simply(?) need to rip out the Access Ultra and then have access to the lock wires? Sounds like this might limit the places where I would want to use this...
I personally would use this on interior access doors only. External doors should have the hub on the secure side. If you take off the access ultra, an alarm will sound from it which ideally would alert someone to your location inside.
That's correct. Compared to the other Access readers where all you have access to (pun intended) is the ethernet cable, here you will have the lock leads and if you have your own 12v power source (have to be targeted or a thief that plans ahead) then you could override. That being said, this type of thing is perfect for internal offices, meeting rooms, and storage rooms etc
Defenitly would use this on exterior doors, but for supply/janitorial closets, offices (that don’t need ‘maximum security’) this is a great, low cost way, to add a door to your access deployment.
Please never use it on the outside of the building. An intruder could just rip it out and access the wires and feed some power to unlock the strike plate.
