fuck i felt serious emotional pain watching that duracell guy go round between the races. he was so calm and composed, just keeping his line avoiding being the cause of trouble and he gets fucking yeeted repeatedly. i want to find out who he is and give him a hug
Despite how ridiculous the penalties are, you have to admit that this is still better than the old school racing game days where every time you were about to overtake someone, they'd deliberately run you off the track like as if the game was Burnout 3 Takedown.
It's still rampant these days, especially in Forza Horizon

That is a thing in GT Sport. If a player pushes another into the grass on a straight they get no penalty.

In the regard that Super GT spun round, then yes, it would be a Romain Grosjean Experience Simulator, but at the same time not because there was nothing SUPER GT could have done, the pink guy got rear ended under breaking forcing him to punt SUPER GT. So yes it is kind of a Romain Grosjean Simulator, buuuuut normally the incidents Romain gets himself in are his fault so at the same time it’s not really a Romain Grosjean simulator. If you use the punter for the experience instead of the puntee, then it could be a Pastor Maldonado Simulator as somebody had previously suggested.

This game is a joke. Did 6 clean races, in 4 my SR rating went up each time by less than 10 points, while actively avoiding rammers by sometimes even conceding positions or getting out of the way at the last moment to see them go into the gravel or the wall. In the other two races I could not avoid being rammed from the back and while on the racing line, and even though I didn't get a penalty (yay), the game still somehow managed to think I was also at fault, and that bloody orange arrow showed up, only once per race.
End result, my SR rating went down more than it went up. Fuuuuuuu

In all honesty, and without the snark, this game seems so good on one hand but so so so bad on the other. I'd get discouraged if that happened regularly to me. That D rated lobby from the other video was terrible to look at, but the higher rated lobbies also fail many standards for good driving about half the time (or so it seems, taking from videos and comments alike).
Edit: Yeah ok, so I made that comment after the first race and skipped forwards a bit and I'm shocked. Was that 2nd race a SR+DR F lobby race?
Agreed. I can have 4 genuinely good races in a row but if I tap somebody's bumper I'm immediately the worst player on earth. Not to mention if I'm driving and minding my own business and get completely side-swiped by someone trying to maintain control of their car then I get the penalty....
@@jvccr7533 I didn't get a penalty in both races I was rammed, and managed in both occasions to keep the car on track, and the other players got the penalty. Yet a single orange SR arrow showed up meaning I lost points, and even the rest of each race was incident free with lots of SR up notifications, by the end of the race my rating dropped to B in red! Complete joke

Agreed, about 10% of my penalties are from genuine mistakes i have made and deserved. The other 90% are from me getting T boned by dive bombers.

What I got out of this is GT7 better have the old fashioned campaign mode with the map and the dealerships, etc, that was good stuff.
Saw the race from Ollie's point of view, was a belter mate you had him speechless the whole race. Top guy getting it upld so quick.

This is the main reason I have been in the B Rating for my SR now for about 9 months. Every time I get back up, I get rammed, pushed off track, get a penalty for it... because apparently I was in the wrong for getting run over... and all the hard work I have trying to build my SR is ruined in one race.
I used to watch SuperGT videos for no more than 5 minutes when I was first getting into motorsport games, and now I stay the full 27 minutes. Truly underrated content from a truly underrated creator. Keep going Steve!
Taking a brief break from GT7 for a few hours. Going back in time checking out your earlier material. Just as entertaining. Top notch commentary. One of the most listenable TH-camrs going IMO.

Single race episodes looks much more interesting when the track is not a 100% flat out straight. In this video the point is your strategy, driving skills and avoiding accidents. Stage Route X episode was all about jokes, slipstream and luck. I really enjoy your stuff like "the fastest-sounding color of all time", it's hilarious! But on the other hand, your informative-focused episodes really teach how to drive and how to race (even in the midst of chaos).
I think, my opinion is based on driver's point of view: I usually learn something from you, for me it's just the best part of your videos. Maybe I represent some part of your audience, who play GT Sport themselves.

I drive a 50cc scooter and you'd be surprised how much a slipstream helps. I can overtake 80cc scoots that go much faster then me for a few seconds if I slingshot off their slipstream. If I just stick back there I only need to use 40% throttle to keep up with them at full throttle with a much bigger engine. Its honestly kinda crazy how much drag slows you down.

God. My guy's humor is soo good and so spread out that you can just sit through the whole vid for the couple bits.
What I enjoy about this particular upload is that it would never exist beyond a simulation! The governing bodies would disqualify every driver and eventually penalize the teams out of a career...and new teams shall emerge. The beauty is that artificial tournaments are already programmed this way and provide much stricter ruling! 🤭
I like to think the real treasure of GT Sport is the SR downs we make along the way.

Man! I honestly left Kie's live stream for this, I just love content from Super GT. I'm glad there's new daily races content. I have just been watching older videos.
Every time I feel upset someone didn't get a penalty for mild contact... I'll come back to reference the absolute horror the penalty system used to be, lol.

Going into the last chicane I gave someone the smallest nudge as they took a different line to enter the pits, bam, penalty for forcing another car off track.

Another great video. Sadly I rage quit last night for the first time in 300 races or so. I can't deal with the dive bombing anymore and the penalties for just being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I love the channel though so good stuff.

I don't play racing games but sportsmanship rating seems like one of those features that absolutely requires a human observer. You can't program a fair judge of it.
