    8 years later, became a concept artist because of Feng and still watch the old videos when I'm low on inspiration. Thanks Feng ✨

    The quantity of Feng's knowledge is simply mind blowing! Thank you so much for sharing all the knowledge and for all the inspiration. I can watch these "lessons" over and over again an still learn something new through it.

    Playing your videos on a side screen is becoming a daily ritual to me when I do design. I know there are lots of great concept artists on youtube, but very few of them care enough to volume down the music and explain what they are doing or why they took such approach etc. Mr Feng, your casual talks have massively boosted my speed and designing quality over the past 6 months, so please just keep posting videos, no need for editing, you may think they are too casual or need more refining, but to me, I treasure every word you say! because it comes out of deep knowledge. I've been struggling for 11 years in the illustration business... thank you for saving my career!!

    Oh man, I can't believe you did this! I've been waiting for episode 40, and you did that what I love the most. Can't thank you enough for all you have done for us.

    Having watched the previous sixty-nine videos, this video is I would say is the best one. Seeing how you work, and produce this, and watching all the steps you go through when making your design, is the best way of learning.

    I really liked the more casual vibe of this episode. And if they're easier to produce and that means you can make more of them, I'm all for it :)

    What is amazing about all this drawings is not only the craftsmenship and educational value. I love to watch your videos while drinking tea in the evening, put the music on in my headphones and feel the moods you create with your works. It feels like I'm part of the world that you create with your paintings. Amazing!

    I really like the way you just talk about the decisions you make while painting and the "babbling" how you put it! It´s so informative and makes it even more fun to watch! Thank you again :)

    "Ehhh, Lets just leave it like this." ;D I love how chill and nonchalant Feng is. I'm re-watching my favorite episodes today and this one defiantly is on top. I know it's not about brushes but I actually started using the chalk one from the PS and fell in love with it, all because of FZD videos.

    Thank you for the 70 videos and for more episodes to come.
    You have been a fantastic inspiration to my self and my own work and I find it fascinating and inspiring to see other artist techniques and skills.
    though the years even just these free lessons has helped to improved my own work.
    I hope to be able to one day save up enough to afford to travel and do the full program. but until then I will be working at my craft and aiming to improve further.
    Anyway I just want to thank you for taking the time to do these for us.

    "Done! Ship it." Haha..
    You gotta keep this series going man. I've been drawing last couple of weeks just for color study, and I suck sooo much. I've been afraid of colors for too long. Once I lay down a color, I'm afraid to smack another one in there. It often becomes quite dull..
    But it helps to watch these lengthy videos though! For inspiration as well.
    So keep it up.

    • @Urza26
      @Urza26 11 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually on hindsight, I think what he did is a simple, but efficient way to get nice colors... just slap existing photos that you personally like, especially ones that has nice colors... It's one of the main things I learned from this. I was pretty much like you, sticking to mainly monochrome

    • @ProxCyde
      @ProxCyde 11 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm afraid that it might create a bad habit, using colors from photos.. I don't want to be dependent on other photos in the future.
      Maybe it won't create such a problem.. I've just tried to avoid it as much as possible at this stage.

    • @JonathanMcNelly
      @JonathanMcNelly 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Neeken you shouldn't see it as a bad habit or something you'd become dependent on. if you don't want to take colours directly from photos, then it is still important that you just have a quick look on what the colours are like in a certain setting or time of the day. The more you study the colours in the photos, the more you will learn which colours apply in which situations. When getting better, i don't think any way of helping you improve is bad. and in the beginning, any technique you use or learn is probably gonna change so much in the future that you won't rely on stuff you do at the moment anyway.

    • @ProxCyde
      @ProxCyde 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      JonathanMcNelly Fair point. I guess I was thinking more of color picking when I posted that reply in January. Not sure why, cause that wasn't the point of the other guy. ><
      But yeah, I agree that studying colors is a good thing. I mean, how else could you learn what colors go where if you don't look at them.
      But for instance, even though I know the theory of keeping shadows cool and lights warm (or the other way around), I'm still not able to get the colors to look right. Or natural.
      I don't really paint much anymore though. Even though close friends tell me I'm too harsh on myself, I still don't feel I'm getting anywhere. Curse of creative perfectionists? :p

    As a concept artist for Skywind: This is really going to help me out on my concept art for the Skywind dev team, though I'm not working on Seyda Neen. I'll be sure to take these into account when redoing the more alien like towns and buildings around the game.
    As a fan: This video was fantastic, and it's great to see how you can build something beautiful without having to go completely from scratch, which when it comes to fantasy can be daunting at times.
    As an artist: I would kill to see you do something along the lines of Bioshock Infinite. I've seen you do fantasy and I've seen you do sci-fi, I would love to see how you handle something that's in-between those spectrums as well as the fact that the art in Bioshock is heavily stylized.

    I really like this new format. Truly feels like I'm sitting beside a professional watching him work. Your thought process comes across slightly better in real time too. I also think that it's important to see you make mistakes and redo things when something is not working for you and it's much easier to see that stuff here.
