- Well, this is the one. The one that will test your patience and sanity as you go through it. I think I had several mental breakdowns as I proceeded through this critique. Maybe I went too far because honestly, I would've loved to have defended this series and given nothing but praise for everything in the end, but in the end I couldn't do it and to be honest with you, that really do suck. It really does.

I feel like this is due to Sasuke's entire subplot, which was given to us from the moment he's introduced into the story, revolving around killing Itachi and avenging his clan. After Itachi died, Kishi didn't know how to proceed with his character, hence all the retcons and asspulls surrounding Sasuke and the entire Uchiha clan. Kishi really should have kept Itachi evil and had him be Sasuke's final antagonist of the series.

its funny because kishi stated how he brought kaguya to bail himself out because he didnt know how sasuke and naruto would beat him. I would go a step further and theorized that he brought kaguya also because he didn't how to fulfill naruto's goal of changing the ninja system.
All of these wars and evil villains were mere products of the system but he didnt know how to make naruto come up with a pragmatic and geopolitical way to get everyone on the same page as him to change things. making kaguya and zetsu manipulate everything as a cause of so much issues gives him an out because if you can simply kill kaguya and her followers then apparently everything will be magically okay now, thus not really having to come up with an in depth solution. things, for the most part, seem peaceful in boruto. nice writing kishi. lol

Nah. Kaguya was introduced simply for Boruto purposes. Naruto and Sasuke could’ve sealed Madara away as well. That “he’s too strong” bs was just an excuse to appease his massive fan base who he likely thought would’ve abandoned the series after that. Kaguya was “stronger” than Madara yet was easier for them to defeat! The entire shinobi world aside from Guy had absolutely no chance against Madara, not even Naruto and Sasuke, and just proves why both Lee and Guy should’ve been more important to the series as it seemed they would be. Hinata and Neji are direct descendants of Kaguya yet neither mentioned her once because she was thought up last minute to introduce the villains in Boruto.
@@yelhsanosnhoj6602 It’s both. The Alien retcon both simplified the conflict and was a gateway for the sequel. Keep in mind the problems in Naruto are realistic in the sense they’re the product of systemic issues, but that’s harder to write and the MC was written in a way he never matured his worldview so he kept preaching about “the power of friendship” when he should have contributed towards a geopolitical solution instead.
Kishimoto was out of depth with the narrative he started.

I am not a fan of Obito being Tobi but I would have preferred it if he was the final villain. He would have been better than a stupid alien who was introduced at the last minute. At least Tobi was significant to the plot from the beginning and I liked the twist that he was the true leader of Akatsuki.
Tobi could have killed Guy and Naruto would be forced to kill Obito and end the war. Much better than having a another redemption for someone who did not earned it! I don't care that he helped, he caused the deaths of Minato and Kushina. Not every bloody villain needs to be redeemed.

I agree 100% that Kishimoto should have taken some time off in order to organize the war arc so that is wasn't just asspull after asspull. Like if he took two minutes to actually research ways on how to write a war, it could have been better. The fact that there was no suspense and tension in a freaking war shows how hard it failed. There were so many good concepts introduced, but then they were executed in the most low scale way that they didn't matter (the sage's tools were so pointless, why even bring them).
Also, the sage having a brother is such BS, like where in the manga was that hinted at? Nowhere! The parallels that Kishimoto established were fine at first, but then he took it too far. Every villain had to connect with Naruto so that he could talk no jutsu them and then he had to tie in Sasuke in order to keep the parallels going is actually less creative than he thinks. Because now half of the characters act like Naruto and Sasuke and have no characterization of their own and because they are supposed to be reflections no other character can get involved in the fight. Thus sidelining an already heavily neglected cast.
The way Kishimoto had Karin and Sakura just forgive Sasuke is not the issue (since no one was going to ever stay mad at him). No, it's the fact the he STILL had them LIKE Sasuke, despite the fact that Sasuke showed them repeatedly why they should never date him. He's emotionally unstable and cannot express himself in a manner that either of them want or need. This is where he failed both girls so hard, because he wouldn't allow them their self respect in the end. Your thoughts on the canon ships were spot on and so many people ignore how poorly they were done because they like the pairings.
Thank you for addressing Kakshi's failure as a teacher. When it comes to Team 7's shortcomings many of them could have been handled by Kakashi actually teaching them. Like if he actually helped them become a family, they might not have left each other. He could have offered to teach Sasuke some of those thousands of jutsu he knew, maybe Sasuke wouldn't have been drawn away by power. Could have told Naruto about his parents and given him a sense of self confidence so that he didn't tie his self-esteem to saving Sasuke. And as for Sakura, she needed two big things from him, 1) Kakashi needed to teach her how to freaking fight, because none of the jutsu she knew were good for it and the only reason she didn't die in the chunin exams is because of plot. 2) he should have told her that her crush was ridiculous and had no place in the ninja system. The fact that no one addressed Sakura's feelings for Sasuke and challenged her (or the other girls) is piss poor writing. He was a full on criminal and no one still thought to say anything about her crush? Not realistic. Also, Kakashi being Hokage makes no sense.
Finally, I have the same feelings you do about Naruto. I don't hate it, but I am so severely disappointed with all of the plot holes and bad writing it underwent that I can never enjoy it like once before.
I agree with everything except kakashi. He taught sasuke his own personal best technique. That was the problem he favored sasuke over naruto and pawned him off until naruto started becoming a powerhouse. Kakashi failed naruto and sakura but he didn't fail sasuke..that was all sasuke

@@MM-hf6om No. He failed Sasuke. He deliberately used Sasuke's desire for revenge as motivation for him to train. Kakashi was also a hypocrite and sucked off Konoha. When he hears the truth of the massacre, he doesn't call out the village for ruining his student's life. Instead, he calls out Sasuke for choosing revenge against the same village that butchered his family and clan. And he's the supposed "good guy".

The first half of Shippuden has its ups and downs, but there's some good stuff in there.. after that... the bad outweighs the good.
@@RetrospectGreg I think the start is pretty solid. Sakura was badass in the first saga, and akatsuki was still menacing. I think Kishimoto put so much expectation with Sasuke vs Itachi and the leader of Akatsuki Pain (since they happened relatively close) that after that, it felt like an empty space...the series could have ended right after Pain was defeated. Now the power levels are so high that literally a clone from Naruto can solo the whole Pain squad. Loved your video btw, nice to see someone who loses his mind with the ending of Naruto as much as I do xD
The other smaller villages like the grass, rain, waterfall, sound and other smaller villages would have been much more interesting than just zombies and zestu. At least add them to the smaller villages than it wouldn’t been a fair fight

The waterfall is an ally for the leaf, the sound practically lost relevance when Orochimaru died, the rain was only interesting when Pein and Nagato were in charge.

You forgot to mention how the 1st Hokage gave Sasuke a jutsu because he resembled Madara's brother and that it could possibly help solve the confliect with him more peacefully. That was brought up for one scene in one chapter and completely forgotten afterwards.

@@RetrospectGreg one could argue that it was to appeal to Madara's phrase that he would go over anyone to achieve his goal, but still, Sasuke still got that jutsu and did nothing with it (ever) and it was never heard from again (and given that Sasuke was his relative, Hashirama mentioning Izuna didn't add much).

You can be allegebable to hokage at age 7 despite not being emotionally, politically, and wisdom educated? 🤔 How does one actually become hokage anyway? Election, amount of power, or is it a sort of monarchy? Never explained! The "goal" of the main character is never fully elucidated.
Not only that but for like 90 % of the show/manga no one else wants to be the hokage besides naruto which is weird it'll be like only one person wants to be president. It isn't until the end that anyone of his peers wants to be the leader . And that's played as a joke .

It's amusing to me sasuke who just chose his own path beyond konoha without an intention to destroy it (in OG), killed itachi, the criminal of s rang, and orochimaru who threatened the whole world, only ATTACKED 5 kages, was the reason of danzo's death but not his murderer (like, shimura killed himself), helped the alliance, was... imprisoned, hated by everyone and had to redeem himself
Meanwhile, Orochimaru, one of the most dangerous nukenins, a mass murder, a creature kidnapping people and putting experiments on them, a user of kinjutsu, the one who attacked konoha and its shinobis, killed the 4th kazekage, was forgiven for just helping 5 kages and bringing 4 hokages to life (one of which he killed HIMSELF). Konoha just told yamato to watch him and... that's it. No prison, no punishment, no interrogation, no making-him-atone-for-his-sins whatsoever
I don't mean sasuke didn't have to be punished for burning the 4th raikage up, attacking danzo and all the kages, killing some samurais. I'm just comparing uchiha to his teacher who did much worse things but got away with this. Orochimaru deserved the bad ending. However, not only was he resurrected, but also no one claimed against him
Konohamaru is okay this man murdered his grandpa and now lives a pretty good life, anko pretends nothing terrible happened to her because of him, yamato instead of killing his martyr himself agrees to look after him, suigetsu COMES BACK to the sannin's shelter and works on the man who kidnapped him, tsunade has no questions and lets her former comrade do whatever he wants

Kaguya was built like an endboss, I'll give her that, but they just didn't make her interesting like Madara.
Madara was a shadow hanging over the whole show from the moment he was mentioned. They built him up through all of shippudden. He felt like the main villain and if Kaguya wasn't shoehorned in last minute she might have been interesting too.

To me the worst part is still how much Kaguya, Sakura and The other woman were robbed. Sakura should have gotten her own special powers and Kaguya should have been way deeper than she ended up being. Like, the lore of Naruto was definitely interesting and the whole Kaguya thing could have been such an interesting twist if there were any buildup or planning in there. Her motivation also lacked so much. If the chakra fruit was a very important energy source to her species for example, her motivations could have made more sense but that‘s just what happens when you don‘t plan out the story ahead of time. You end up with disasters.

I respect the passion. I couldn’t agree more dude. The show was flushed down the toilet come the war arc. So many cool characters........ yet the war was nothing more than magic red eye balls vs protagonist power. The only one who did anything if significance that wasn’t a dirty Uchiha or Naruto was Guy and he had to die for his technique. Agreed on the couples BS. There’s nothing to make the ship feel satisfying. It’s just kishimoto bending over to the shippers or his wife. I’ve heard his wife asked him to do a thing or two. Anyway, loved your videos. It’s nice to see somebody else’s point of view.

Madara teleporting into the Kamui dimension actually broke TWO rules. One as you mentioned was that Obito said he couldn't use Kamui with the Juubi inside of him yet Madara does. The other broken rule is that he uses Kakashi's Sharingan to teleport himself into the Kamui dimension - Kakashi's eye cannot teleport himself, only Obito's can. Obito's right eye teleports himself and nearby objects, Kakashi's left eye teleports distant objects.
Like I said, he'll break his rules if he needs to keep the plot going.

Well it is no secret that naruto sucked long before the war arc, it's really hard to keep a reasonable quality when you publish a weekly manga. He basically dug a grave for the series when he made the ninjas blowing mountains. When madara got revealed manga had a resurgence in sales so he had to drag that fight up making him basically op as fuck which made the plot even more insufferable.
All in all you just go along with it to see the final fight of naruto vs sasuke which you already know the result and you also know that kisimoto doesn't have the balls to kill any of them so it ends with a happily ever after and with an ideal setup for a sequel which turned out to be X files with ninjas. Talking about disappointed XD

Guy should’ve killed Madara, Obito should’ve been final villain, naruto and Sasuke should’ve fought in the battlefield in front of everyone and killed each other from their overwhelming jutsu god powers without ever receiving sage of the six paths power.
The spot where it all burned down was after obito revived madara. It should have ended with obito and I think the fanbase would have been one hell of a lot happier with that ending. Would've had our gripes. But still, there wouldn't have been as much of a sense of getting totally screwed outta a decent ending.
But you know Kishi he wants to bust out all the forbidden jutsu in his anime finale, that includes the reanimation jutsu. 😂🙌

Sakura is the most tragic character in anime history. No matter what, people hate her even if she does exactly what they want her to do. I mean, the American fanbase WANTED her to stay with Sasuke, but then bitch that she...stayed with Sasuke. I loved Sakura. I loved how flawed she was and all I wanted was her to grow a back bone, but no..."women who fall out of love with their first crush would be a terrible woman."
So I ask, what was wrong with her being with Naruto? I mean, does it solve all her flaws? No, but it would be a massive leap forward. No, she had to be with Sasuke because the fucking fanbase DEMANDED Naruto be with Hinata despite having not a single piece of chemistry. Asmosis Jones will probably make some long winded post about how Naruto had to be with Hinata because "she loved him first," but completely disregard the fact that Naruto loved Sakura first and say it didn't mean anything. God, what was Kishi thinking? Correction, he didn't think. He just said "make whatever is popular" and they did that.
Chapter 693 is evidence of what SS is. "I have no reason why I should love her." This fucking excuse of "you don't need a reason" is the problem with modern relationships. Why? Why do women love the bad boy that gives no shits about them?
Now granted...every single Naruto character suffered for fucking Hinata. Every single one and the excuses...it is a tidal wave of handwaving and excuses all because "NaruHina is canon."
That's the worst part about all of this. The ONLY reason why they love this series is because Naruto banged Hinata. How fucking pathetic is that? They have nothing else. Hell, her own fanbase can only list ONE scene she is in. They can't even reference the Neji death. All they say is "Hinata saved Naruto from Pain and that is all she needed to do for him to love her."
The idea of Hinata getting together with Naruto doesn't seem to go beyond... "Hinata loved him first."

It just suprises me that out of 15 years of the manga, the NH fans can only remember ONE scene. That's it That's all they can remember and that one scene is apparently so prevalent that it bypasses all other interaction Naruto has with anyone else. Even Sasuke takes a backseat to it like she was his first bond.
Why did they pick NH? Why did Hinata getting her unearned obsession than even Naruto himself was the most important? I will never understand it. I thought this was a shonen, but I guess it was a shojo the whole time.

Doesn't have any cool fights besides one against sasori who she helped with and his grandma was basically the perfect counter to sasori and is implied that sasori let himself die. Sakura is unlikable as well not even in the interesting way like saskue where I can dive into his character but sakura is unlikable in the bitch sort of way for example constantly hitting naruto for barely doing anything, obsessing over a guy who tried to murder her multiples times,and says stupid stuff like "I have finally caught up to them" which she never did in the slightest. The biggest thing that forever not made me like sakura compare to everybody eles in naruto was the moment in the five kage summit where she trys to manipulate naruto by saying she loves him which we all know is completely a lie it just makes her too unpleasant for me. Your free to like sakura but their are just as many problems with sakura as their is with hinata even more so because sakura is supposed to be a main character

You can't put this logic of "people change their hearts" when this is not even what happened in Naruto. Naruto didn't fall in love with Hinata in a natural progression of story telling. He was forced and shoehorned to be with her because "she was the most popular among the fandoms."
Why even need a movie to explain it? If Naruto naturally went to Hinata out of a true change of heart, then the movie was completely unnecessary.

Here is what Sakura getting with Naruto could have done
1. Sakura understanding that her love for Naruto allows her to be herself and people would stop calling her bad for her obsession.
2. Naruto would have something else to fight for than just "Saskeeeeeh." Have Naruto know that Sasuke is not the only thing in his world.
3. Allow Sasuke to choose who HE wants to be with since he already had every ninja bitch wanting to dick ride him.
4. Have Naruto achieve what he wanted. (As being with Sakura was one of his goals.)
5. Sakura could help Naruto be a better man like how Kushina supported Minato.
6. Fullfilled his mother's wish to find "a woman like her." (Minato confirmed Sakura and Kushina are alike.)
Negative aspects
1. Hinata would have to let Naruto go.

I know people have opinions, but i never understood how people say Naruto is the greatest anime or manga (usually it’s the only anime or maybe 1-4 they seen). I rewatched all Naruto and Shippuden and read most the manga again and I still came away with the same feeling as the first view, Naruto is great at moments but others (most) it’s garbage so it balances out at being an average show but nostalgia and popularity help it..

One of the things that pissed me off about the war arc is that Obito only attacked them when he was attacked and he only spoke when he was spoken to, the rest of the time he is just hovering above waiting for Naruto and the rest to catch they breath and escape the "impossible situation" its like they were playing monopoly or something

Naruto: is considered the worst scumbag in japan for good reason. Look no further than calling his parents murder and the one who starter this whole war "the coolest guy" and "naruto: the last" movie. Misses his hokage inauguration because his brat knocked him out for the sake of "comedy". Some naruhina fans don't care about naruto missing his big proud day and praise the shit out of said brat anyway because they got what they wanted and couldn't care less about Naruto's dream, only Hinata's.
Sakura: showed potential to grow but then regresses and is hated by the american fanbase but loved by those that later became reylo fans

Sasuke: More proof its not what you know, its who you know that get you out of shit situations, no matter what the crimes you've done. Even if it was trying to assassinate world leaders.

This series was also one of the first manga that I've read alongside Hunter X Hunter, glad that Togashi knows not to disappoint when he actually writes.
My main problem with this arc started when Kishimoto decided to wank endlessly on Madara and by an extent Hashirama, just because he decided to retcon the fact that Hiruzen used to be the most powerful Hokage.
Those 3 battles, 5 Kage vs Madara, Naruto and co. vs Tobi and Sasuke/Itachi vs Kabuto should have ended much differently.
The Kages, specially Tsunade were treated like absolute garbage just so Madara (whom you perfectly pointed how Kishimoto went bonkers with) could look even more powerful. I don't care how he could have done it, but Tsunade should have been the one to finally get rid of that bastard invincible corpse. Doing so would prove that the "Will of Fire" or whatever had any meaning. Cheesy? Don't care, it's better than what we got.
The Uchiha brothers vs Kabuto was trash but I don't see how it could have gone differently, Kabuto was also way too much.
Now Obito, HE should have stayed evil. Kishimoto could have made it so that he literally went insane after witnessing Rin's death. See? Easy, simple. Big reveal, Obito "loses" to Kakashi just like how it happened while the others fought the Juubi with the aid of Sasuke and the Edo Hokages who arrive just in time. Obito returns, becomes the Jinchuuriki, Gai sacrifices himself to weaken Obito enough so that Naruto and the rest can remove the Bijuu from him. There, done, everyone is happy and Obito dies after exchanging a few words with Kakashi and Minato.
Those are interesting ideas yeah.
Madara was the only saving grace for the war arc. Being a ninja who was actually bred by war it was dope to see him slaughter the alliance. He probably should've lost to the kage so he wouldn't have to be cucked by kaguya later on.

Oh, Boy! with a review like this I'm gonna have to list my reasons of stuff that I thought about this arc.
1. the zombie ninja fights where Meh. 2. The random character battles were also boring. 3. The war is too Black and White 4. Madara started of really good, but then he got boring since he mostly easily defeats everyone. 5. seeing the other tailed beast where cool. 6. Sasuke and Itachi vs Kabuto I thought was very cool and heartwarming. 7. Why did Orochimaru needed to come back?
8. Obito because he is my favorite Naruto villain. 9. Neji's death Meh. 10. the 4 Hokages are brought back to life for....reasons. 11. the main final battle is long-winded and it feels like it takes forever! 12. Too many Ninjitsu explosions since they blend together and are just not interesting. 13. Guy gives everything all that's he's got which is awesome! 14. Naruto and Sasuke being reincarnations of the 2 sages is stupid. 15. Kaguya was a villain that never needed to happen. 16. Sakura got no character development at all. 17. naruto's fight with Sasuke's fight while short it's very great.
18. The Epilogue leafed me with mixed fillings.
So yeah there are a few things that I liked... but it's such a shame that the bad are so much prevalent than the positives that the arc that it can be felt.
and the arc is so long that the arc felt like a drag. and unfortunately, this drops my score of and 8 out of 10 to a 6 out of 10.

Besides the plot holes, bad writing, and etc there are just some things I genuinely don’t understand why they happened.
1.) Why did obito start a war? It would have been much simpler and easier to track down naruto and bee and pursue them on his own or even with the rest of the akautski members. As( correct me if I’m wrong ) kisame was still alive at that point the same kisame who before samihata betrayed him was destroying perfect jinchuriki killer bee. Why purposely go out of your way to make yourself a huge target like that? Supposedly he did it to draw out the bijuu as he knew the villages had caught in to what the akautski were doing but how would starting a war make things easier? also the villages had already knew the akautski had been obtaining tailed beast ever since the beginning of shippuden when deidara took gaara. Ig you could say he did it to draw them out but even so by drawing them out you’d have to deal with them along with the rest of the shinobi alliance on their side. Once again he’s just making his plan harder. Hell it would be even worst with naruto as by starting a war to draw him out not only would you have to deal with naruto but you’d also have to deal with Kakashi, Guy, and other ninjas while also dealing with naruto it would be damn near impossible.
2.) why did obito attack the leaf village? As we know obitos main goal during the Konoha attack was to get Kurama so he could seal him for the infinite tyskomi plan. As jinchurikis seal is weak during child birth. But after he got the 9 tails he released it on Konohoa…? Your whole goal was to get the 9 tails and you got it so why would you release it back again? It’s like if I catch my dog from running away just to let it run out my front gate again. This also doesn’t even tie in with obitos ideology if he truly wants peace why would he unleash Kurama on konoha to murder hundreds of innocent people and to orphane tons of innocent kids. It doesn’t really make any sense. The leaf village never did anything to obito in any way they even remembered him as a hero. I understand he was made fun of for being a joke as an uchia but it isn’t like he was ostracized or hated or anything he just got picked on
3.) why didn’t itachi tell the leaf that “ madara “ ( tobi was still going by madara at that time) was the one who unleashed Kurama on konoha? Every thing itachi ever did was to either help sasuke or the village as itachi loved his village. Itachi knew that the whole reason the Uchia were being discriminated, and profiled were because the leafs higher ups suspected them of being the ones behind the konoha attack, itachi also knew that “ madara “ was the one who unleashed Kurama on konoha so why in the world did he not tell the leaf village? We find out itachi knew this as when he was reanimated he told kyubi naruto. Sure you could say the leaf wouldn’t believe him but it wouldn’t have hurt to at least tell them also the leaf village higher ups themselves weren’t even sure if madara was actually dead or not so saying he wouldn’t believe them is a small stretch. Also saying itachi was scared of obito isn’t really a good argument as at that time itachi could hold his own against obito so he had nothing to be afraid of. Itachi knew the reason his people were discriminated and knew the person who caused the discrimination and didn’t tell the village he indirectly cause the uchia massacre when you think about it…
4.) If orochimaru knew where the shinigami mask was why didn’t he go get it to get his arms back… he sent the sound ninja 4 to restive sasuke and they seemed to have sneaked into the village pretty easily why didn’t he have them get the mask so he could get his arms back. Or why didn’t he go with them, and get his arms back then and there?
5.) Why didn’t minato use sage mode against obito? Yes minato said he isn’t confident in his sage abilities but he’s a perfect sage… it’s like kabuto saying he won’t use edo tensei because he’s not confident in his ability of it even though he mastered the jutsu. He’s a perfect sage so it wouldn’t had taken him that long to summon sage chakra. If he had he would have killed obito one rasengan was enough to make obito flee if he got hit by one by a perfect sage minato he’d be dead. This would have sent events in shippuden way differently
6.) Why did madara put his eyes in nagato? We later find out he put them in nagato as he was coming closer to the end of life and did so he could later be revived with rinne rebirth. But why nagato? For one nagato at that time grew up in the rain village during the 3rd great ninja war madara picked quite literally the worst candidate. What if nagato was killed like his parents by invading shinobi? What if nagato got hit by an incoming unexpected blast like his dog did that had died, what if he landed on a land mind and died, what if someone like orochimaru saw him ( like he actually did in the series) and stole his eyes. What if someone else who also had knowledge of the rinnegans power saw nagato and tried to take his eyes?Madara put his prized possession in the worst possible person. Ig you could say he did this so it would push nagato to become stronger but why not put the eyes in someone who is already strong? Or at the least experienced? Why put it in nagato a low self esteem, no confidence having no battle experienced child? To many things could have gone wrong.
7.) why are the akautski needed again? As we know obito worked through the shadows of the akautski using them as ways of obtaining the tailed beats so he could create the eye of the moon. But why? It’s obvious obito clearly has the power to do this on his own. Why go through the extra work of manipulating pain, keeping tabs on pain and all the akautski members, recruiting itachi, and playing an idiot named tobi for who knows how long when you could get the bijuu on your own and at a much faster rate after your body healed. Obito is clearly skilled with genjutsu as at just 14 he was able to control Kurama with just a 3 tomoe. If he can control Kurama it’s certain he can do the same with the weaker bijuu. Also he was able to fight minato, take a rasengan and live to tell the story where as if you put nearly any other member of the akuatski in his spot they’d get destroyed. Even if you don’t believe me and say obito wouldn’t be strong enough to get the bijuu on his own he could simply find kakashi, get his eye back, and he’d be more then powerful enough to proceed with the eye of the moon plan Hunting the bijuu. I love the akautski but from a plot standpoint they have no reason to exist. Obito could do what they did faster and better. The akautski were never in madaras plan so obito went out of the way to make more work for himself for seemingly no reason.
I’m not saying I need everything explained to me but all of these are pivotal plot points that can change the series in a number of ways that are just abounded
The number number 2 that u put . I thought of that for a long time . Why did obito summoned the nine tails inside the leaf village to attack it ? It was clearly shown his only objective was to ge the nine tails . Also he didn't have any grudge towards the leaf village . So what's the point of attacking it . It was a meaningless action . After getting the nine tails he should have summoned it elsewhere and sealed it . That seemed the most logical choice of action . But then again the show is Naruto . I won't say much ..

For number 2, honestly Obito’s character has never made sense, and it doesn’t make any sense that he was fighting for “peace”, considering that he turned the hidden Mist into the Bloody Mist for absolutely no reason by implementing the rule that ninja can only graduate by slaughtering their entire class. Sure, that definitely sounds like something a peace-loving sane man would do. Making a class of children kill eachother for no reason. Especially since he claims that he hates the “shinobi world” for killing young children like Rin.
For no. 3 I'd say Itachi had to keep it as a secret because he had to maintain his dual alliance with akatsuki and village. But you can also counter this by saying Obito already knew about this fact when obito told the truth to sasuke after Itachi's death which means Itachi failed to fulfil that dual alliance in theory.
But damn man I never thought of the 2nd point you referred there. It was so illogical of Obito unleashing Nine tails attack on village with no purpose or grudge whatsoever. It really is making me wondering
Writing, character development, it all went out the window after the Hokage summit. The end could have been so much more interesting but it seemed like the war arc was simply to milk the franchise as much as possible until it was a husk. Only decent part was seeing Madara in action but even that wasn't enough to save it.

I’ve talked about a reboot multiple times we need one! We were supposed to get one originally but we got a sequel instead.
I’m glad Kishi gave us Naruto part 1, which was damn near perfect to me.... but Shippuden was fucking horrible. So much wasted potential on cool characters, too drawn out, unimportant characters popping up out of nowhere, fillers (goes hand and hand with the series being drawn out,) etc.
Man idk why, but I feel like it could’ve been handled way better. Naruto could’ve been the savior without having to pull that much weight in the war.
My most favorite episode in the war arc is *"A Father's Hope, A Mother's Love"* when that time where Gaara talk to his father and confesses Gaara's mother and uncle actually loves him and he admitted he doesn't deserve to be called a "father" and knows he made mistakes that affected Gaara and the village.
That episode made me literally tear up, I re-watch it and it's still tear me up again especially we can sympathize why Gaara's father is like this, to make things worst his mother finally got to see her baby son before she passed away from the after childbirth.
And also that explains why Gaara is premature birth.
It wasn’t about shinobi fighting. The beginning of the war was interesting where they actually used other ninjas they brought into the show. The only character they actually introduce well is Darui then forget about him. The war turned out to be Naruto and Sasuke defeats everyone. The kages were made to be a joke. Killer bee was completely forgotten in this war. The other ninja were there just to be there. They started the arc well in the first day then added Naruto and was like let him beat everyone.
The war is so trash in my opinion, poorly written and rushed. It’s extremely messy and makes little sense. All it is, is ‘action’ in the worst way possible. Everything up to the Akatsuki is good classic Naruto. As cool as Madara is, he’s too overpowered for no reason it’s ridiculously stupid. Hashirama should’ve been way more powerful. Naruto sharing his chakra with everyone was kinda corny. And I hate how Tobi just became friendly all that for nothing, he should’ve been killed off by kakashi in that amazing fight scene. The War arc truly was terrible DONT let all the amazing variety of characters trick you into thinking the war arc is well written because it is not.
I really liked the origin story of Hashirama and Madara.

I am totally agreeing with you, on all counts, ALL AND ALL! I used to be one of those people who would defend Kishimoto's asspull writings because I had faith that somehow, at the end of the day he'll wrap it up in a somehow cohesive manner. But no. Instead of doing the right thing, he cut it down, took the short road, like he OH SO PREACHED NOT TO DO back in Part 1, when Naruto's dream to be a Hokage was first introduced to us.
No, he chose to go retcon after retcon after retcon in order to cater to a loud minority. Because the silent majority just said fuck it, and dropped it.
And that can be seen even in today's time. Boruto barely keeps it up in the airing time anime wise, and its sales from what I understand is standing at most 15% from its source material's success.
That tells a lot. That tells that in terms of branding, Kisihimoto is zero. People excused his shit for years, but hoped that maybe, MAYBE in the end he'll somehow magically make it through.
Okay, it was clear that he wasn't gonna cater to everyone's likings. But it wasn't about that. It was about staying true to its lessons. If not to its mechanics, at least to its lessons via the themes he introduced.
But no, for some reason he kept on demolishing it, one after another, until it made real fans absolutely HATE IT. Which is sad, because this story had potential, so much potential.
It was that very potential that drew me in into it. At first I didn't even want to get into it.
Years later, after the fiasco, I wish I would've stayed on my initial path.
But alas it is what it is.

I didn’t hate this arc as much as others, but it definitely had its problems.
It was a perfect opportunity to showcase the characters individually, but we only got bits and pieces.
I didn’t mind so much that we were getting zombie characters, but we definitely could have used more original/living antagonists for them to fight.
I did enjoy the Obito twist. At times I think he should have been the real mastermind and Madara a red herring….unlike a certain other someone.
Madara started fun at first, but it became too much and there were no limits to his power. Not to mention he was just repeating all the jutsus we’ve seen before, and I got sick of the sharingan/rinnegan bullshit
Believe it or not, I actually LIKE the concept of Kaguya, but the way she came in was quite BS. I guess I was so sick of Madara I welcomed any change,
The final battle was disappointing and rushed. I did like the battle had permanent consequences for both of them, but that’s about it.

Oof, Sakura. She had so much potential. If he only gave her more to do and not concern himself with popularity, her character could have been amazing. But no, he instead double-downed on all her worst traits (Sasuke-kun!) . China even made an article calling her the worst heroine! She doesn’t deserve that, but at the same time, they are not wrong! If we ever get a reboot, Sakura is a character who DESPERATELY needs to be reinvented.
The final chapter has one glaring flaw: Lack of Heart. Ignoring the quality of the ships themselves, it’s just a cheap marketing ploy to entice viewers with who got married to who, and their kids. No plot, no lessons learned, and Naruto being Hokage is a hollow victory at best. He just is, but we don’t get a personal reflection from him, no hint of how he handles things as Hokage. It’s no wonder not even SP ever animated it.
I’m okay with the side-ships. They’re not great, and I personally wouldn’t have done so much at once. I like how in Dragonball, Toriyama did one ship at a time so we could get used to them before going to another. That being said, they’re whatever.
NaruHina had potential. Sadly, because Kishimoto either deliberately ignored her or was too busy with his red herrings, it just feels there, when I think Naruto deserved much more. The fanatical fans also didn’t help; the only thing good about Hinata is she liked Naruto from the start, but it ultimately means nothing when Kishi refuses to build their relationship. Hinata’s shyness doesn’t help matters as, despite what fans say, no, she was never their for Naruto. Naruto always lamented about being alone until he had Team 7 (and Iruka). One of many things Kishi could have done was have Hinata apologize to Naruto for not having the courage to be there for him sooner. From there he could just have Naruto hang out with her when not on Team 7 business and talk to her about things he feels he can’t with his other friends.
Sasusaku….to make this work in the slightest would require Kishi to REALLY change the story. Naruto probably should have won their first duel, bring him back and move on from there. Or have Sakura fight equally as hard as Naruto to redeem him. People who think Sakura is abusive to Nartuo have no idea what ACTUAL abuse is, and the SasuSaku relationship is full of moments where Sakura is just plain miserable in her interactions with him. And Sasuke’s actions towards her are indifference at best, and outright cruel in others. There is no understanding between them in the manga as far as I can tell, and material that says otherwise doesn’t help matters. Some think this is just punishment for both of them, but that’s not a story I want to read. 693 and beyond isn’t a good story, it is some cringe-level incel fanfiction.
You know, the irony of you trashing fanfiction of Naruto is that much of the fanon is better than the canon!
I’d say Naruto is a great sandbox with potential ideas that fans can play around with, but with Kishimoto it just doesn’t mesh at the end.
I think Naruto needs to become like the Fate series. Have multiple branches of reality that diverge from the main timeline using the same characters, but with different outcomes/different takes. The others probably won’t be able to be as big/long as the original, but that may actually be a good thing in the long run.
This arc really fucked the series I enjoyed most of it until this point madras was cool asf but broke the power scaling and then aliens exist apparently
I know this is late, but this was a very meticulous and quite well done critique of the arc; i loved that even though overall you were harsh in pointing out the flaws, you did acknowledge the parts you DID like; I also didn't want to hate naruto; but after watching your video i want to share my honest thoughts.
-after finishing the manga for the first I was really satisfied with how it ended with sasuke being redeemed; but looking back on it, i agree that it falls flat because it wasn't earned. At the very least there could have been somebody to put him in this place for all the bullshit that he pulled, but no.
-i never realized until you pointed out that the villains in his arc were full-out bad guys and how it downplayed one of the series themes of achieving peace in a world where humans (beings of both good and evil in them) cause violence. the Kaguya incident basically flushed that narrative down the toilet.
-Naruto basically became Ninja-jesus after this arc; with all of this demigod-like powers and his Talk no jutsu to force villains to change sides it just became so idealistic and unrealistic to the point of cringe, he has no flaws, he doesn't face consequences for his views, there's hardly anything compelling or inspiring about his character anymore.
-Most of the supporting cast became irrelevant in this arc, not just in terms of power but narrative purpose as well; but i don't want to get into that it would take too long.
-How could anyone write Sakura as a girl who obsesses over someone who couldn't give a shit about her and treats her like trash is completely beyond me.
-As for the asspulls, i never noticed them the first time i've read this arc; so they didn't bother me that much, bu after you pointed them it just as you said, makes lose respect for the author;
in conclusion, this arc completely ruined naruto for me as a compelling story; whatever significant themes of war, conflict, peace, empathy reaching success through hard work it had this arc just either contradicted them or oversimplified them so much that they basically lose all impact. The only reaso. i'm not critiscizing kishimoto is because he worked on this manga 9-12 hours a day for 15 years, and that there are still people who enjoyed his work despite it's flaws.

the war arc was about themes that you all praised before it in other arcs in favor of entertainment ..thats why you all hate it but you all are at the same time being hypocrites defending the show since day 1 cause other arcs mostly sucked too cause they were more about themes then actual entertainment value ...it didn't care about the fighting ever in shippuden...it was more about narrative

your trying to make the ending epic while going off this supposed battle shonnen that turned into a drama manga half way through......the problem with that is its manga its limited its hard to do weekly and it doesn't have the music or acting to tell you how to feel which is the point...a character like hinata who is all about feelings and conveying them is hard to make stand out in the manga since shes not very battle centric in this battle centric arc and series... the anime makes her easier to care about and like cause you feel the points she makes and its impact then seeing her win fights although the anime filler give her badass fights too so they just made her more interesting period than the manga which is a good thing the manag could learn from the anime to give the girls time to shine instea dof make them fodder...its about the messages moral themes narrative not the fights or being super useful...the side characters are support aka what naruto is fighting for they don't have to do much in the actual battle...its about naruto in the end...its not called ninja story..its called naruto..deal with it...they can do what they can but the series is about naruto so its going to be his story
Dude I'm surprised this channel doesnt have swagkage levels of support based off this video series alone. Love these vids. I also agree that they should have moved stuff around so that pain was the final villain. They could've made it so naruto defeats pain around the time sasuke beats itachi and then maybe they have their clash while they're still actually ninja and not gods. Even though sasuke wanting to attack the leaf was dumb, maybe it could have been the cause of that final battle.

Y'know at least I'm happy that Madara didng sudenly became good guy because of talk no jutsu. But Kishimoto did him kinda dirty by trying to take off as much sins from Madara's shoulders as possible. "Dont worry about Madara manipulating Pain and Obito, and then starting the war, because Madara was manipulated by Zetsu, therefore he is innocent".
The one good thing about sasuke in bort, if you disassociate it from naruto, is him trying to be a dad with sarada and fumbling at it. Doesn't excuse his previous actions but it's somewhat endearing.

the only problem i have with naruto and any anime at this point is that they still take one week to upload an anime episode which is less than 20 mins and still takes ages to complete one story. they should do what Netflix is doing make a series maximum 50 episodes and upload it all at once
It would take a year of waiting vs weekly uploads. Also you think you want that but you don’t because you’ll bing 50 episodes and then have to wait a year. This kills momentum for a show and brings down viewers. Also animating shows takes so much work that’s why it takes a week. Just be patient.

yeah finish it its worth it. filler sucks when u go through it but look up a list of the fillers. but it’s super nostalgic after and there are some incredible scenes that you’ll go back and watch all the time

To be honest, Madara is an asspull villain. He is still good (due to his strong ideals) but severely overrated. Every pivotal point in his fights are asspulls.

2. Susanoo w/o Eyes - if thats the case then Kakashi should be able to do Susanoo in Boruto (in theory)
3. Kamui while in Jubi Mode - Obito can't do it so he shouldn't as well.
Guy should have killed him (with Guy dying from the 8 gates) or substantially damaged him in order for NAruto and Sasuke to finish him off. No Kaguya. Also remove all the asspull bullshit with Madara.
