just like everything else the north koreans show us, everything you see here is a carefully constructed layer of imagery and spectacle surrounding a hollow area devoid of substance. everything in this country is about image and presentation to hide the fact that there is nothing going on behind the scenes. i have seen similar videos from north korea of people just sitting at computers that arent even on. even here in this video where they touch on this lack of substance to things there are still plenty of things in this video being put on merely for the sake of the image of the dprk. almost no footage gets out that they dont want to get out. so you really cant trust any kind of imagery you see from there through conventional media.

***** i feel like you are replying to me by accident. i did not say any of that(nor would i). you dont seem to be addressing anything i actually said. to read what i said and think it amounts to a claim that the above video is directed by dprk is a bit of a stretch. it is however, not a stretch to say that the dprk attempts as a matter of policy, to inspect and scrutinize all audio and video leaving the country in an attempt to censor. this ensures that only the most positive imagery from there surfaces. they are not always successful, of course.
KickYouInTheThroat those nobel laureates can say what they see. And you know what they said? If you guys didn't know, a US visitor died in NK the same year that this was recorded, so pretty safe to say those reporters have balls of steel.
The name of that guy was Otto. He was captured for 'allegedly' stealing a propaganda poster on the 5th floor of the hotel where he was staying. He went to court, where he had already accepted he had lost his life. He was sentenced to labor works, and freed to the US a year later or so in coma. 6 days upon arrival, he died.
@General Guile Excuse you, if he was taken back to the US in coma and nearly dead he was basically killed in NK.
Also, they used against him a suspiciously blurred video from a security camera showing a man taking a poster off a wall. In that video you cannot see his face neither anything that could identify him, so it could also had just been a plot against him or just against the US via one of its citizens.
He wasn't able to defend himself in court and was treated as a slave under threats. You just need to watch some of the videos of him "declaring" in "court".

they already understand that, the people aren't stupid. Only people in leading positions have enough reason (money+health) to be wanting to stay in the country. The reason they don't revolt is that 3 generations of your family will be sent to concentration camps and maybe also executed if you commit crimes against the regime. That means your children, your parents and your grandparents could be punished all together if you chose to disobey the regime. There would have to be a shitton of people of all kinds of different generations willing to die to be able to make a regime-threatening revolution possible. did the reporter manage to leave north Korea after this?
no beheaded
+천사 really? Dennis Rodman should step in and negotiate with Kim leader then. BTW do north Koreans like Kimchi as much as the South ?
+천사 Kim is young and educated, he should ask China to establish a political system in North Korea and Transform his country into a modern and vibrant country like China..He should be a reformer, Modernised North Korea..If he continues with his Dad's Old policies, there will be
+The “Kenneth Badio” Patriot Kim will make all those kids in the footage becoming mandatory organ donors like china.
I really hope you are kidding about the things you are saying, but if it is true I would like some evidence to back up your claims or else you just seem like a troll.

Ahhh...You said it!
These smart(or dumb???) students are only trained to be slaves of the Kim regime.
0:36 guy wanted to give a standing ovation lol
Feel kinda sorry for that kid talking microbiology. He clearly has a passion and interest for it, but will never be able to go as far as he could with the lack of available knowledge he’s allowed to know
Yeah it's sad how they have no internet. And as BBC said, in sciencs, without internet, you're dead.
The state will allow to him to know what they think he needs to know. He will be able to have enough knowledge to make a good career in North Korea. It is not as if he will ever be able to leave North Korea, so his lack of knowledge compared to researchers in other countries will not be a hindrance to him. In fact, he will likely never even be aware of the fact that the internet exists.
Knowledge of and access to the real internet is something that in North Korea is only given to a very select few researchers who can be trusted to know the truth. Unless this boy ever advances to those deep inner circles of the regime, he will remain in ignorance of the outside world.

I feel like all the reporters were executed after positing this documentary...
@@hongpam8739 yeah it's a joke dumbass
The journalist in this (Rupert Wingfield-Hayes) was actually arrested for an article he wrote about North Korea
@@ninegames4568 joking about people dying.. 😐
3:03 I thought they are watching terminator
CanaDATA they don't have that in North Korea
As an alumnus of this University, I did my Bachelor’s and Master’s in Kim Il-Sung Studies, and did my research on Kim Il-Sung’s life.
really
Try any extracurriculars? I heard Kim-Il Sung drama club's putting together a stirring rendition of "Let's Glorify Our Country as Generalissimo Kim-Il-Sung Intended" this year. Kim Pie Kim fraternity is recruiting too, their grass eating contest is always fun.

They have Kim Il Sung University in Japan, too. Actually, the entire primary school leading to the university is in Japan. My Korean-Japanese ex boyfriend went to North Korean schools in Japan.
really?? weird
Average day is Japan. Walking to Kim Il Sung University. Get kidnapped and indoctrinated by South Korean cult.
When I think of NK, I think of some alternate universe. It doesn't seem real to think a nation like this actually exists at the present moment.
Koreans: Everyone is trying to kill us..
The rest of the world: Ummmm no we're not! 😂😂😂
Only china is trying to kill us, with their virus and tiktok
0:44 Boy you should study more, we don t have nuclear bomb...
South Korea has nuclear weapons. USA has its nuclear weapons in South Korea and they can fire them from South Korea. It doesn't matter if South Korea developed nuclear weapons, but they still have them.
With all the geopolitical tension that are present in the world sometimes I forget you can actually visit the DPRK.

But use it wisely...
Lol "trying to kill us" boyyyy, if you just knew how fast Pyongyang could be obliterated 😂😂
Lol only reason it hasn't happened is because they would strike South Korea if that happened. So they're not wrong
Lmao the US has once already murdered off a third of their population through carpet bombing in just three years. No wonder they’re a paranoid totalitarian nuclear state now.
If US obliterated Pyongyang Seoul, Tokyo or Taipei would have been obliterated in return... That's how it works.
If they obliterated Pyongyang then life would become hell for the entire Korean peninsula due to the nuclear fallout. The only way to defeat NK is to topple their regime
@@dustifilms The only time the US has really (truly) mobilized its forces in pursuit of something necessary was in WWII, and that was when the US was not really a global power. The Soviet took the brunt of it. So yea, if it was a real war, Pyongyang would be obliterated, assuming US nukes hadn't been launched.

Man of Harlech if I was assigned to Pyongyang as a journalist I will respect the Great Leader as much as possible
Or maybe we won't be able to see him if he sat in that crowd.
Wow
It's so sad to see how limited these people are to certain freedoms that we have everyday. They are very patriotic which I find beautiful. Although we can't judge N. Korea on this alone because this is like the 1% of people who fall in the elite class. These young adults will someday be government officials so they get the best of the best. The outside world isn't shown the poorer sides who are starving. It really is a mysterious country. I would love to visit there one day. Just to learn from people my age about there everyday life. I'm sure I would see that we aren't so different.
It's incredible how much we take for granted when in NK simply browsing the web is reserved for the elite
2:30 “if you’re a scientist and you don’t have the internet, you’re dead”
“Ah, well you see, something of the opposite happens here…”
The students in this video seem very talented and some of them are very confident. Let's just imagine what their career and life could be if they were from countries like Canada and Australia? It is such a shame that a country is struggling with hunger and poverty even though they have some young talents. It is not these talents' fault.
