This so phenomenally fantastic!! These guys can do anything and turn it into gold. Had to grab me a box of tissues for this one. Cesar killed it with his emotions and I feel he deserves a hug, Eli did amazing with this arrangement. I have no words. I mean They all put so many emotions into this song. I was crying through most of it, and I have cried everytime I watch it. It hits deep with all my insecurities. It is already on my playlist! Great reaction!!

The mirror effect was Geoff's idea but it's Cesar's mirror.
Peter Barber did an interview with Geoff during which he said he considers himself a baritone … it just came out. I think y’all would get a kick out of it. A review from you two would be a real treat. 😊

Absolutely love this version. Although I do have trouble not crying during Cesar's & then Anthony's turns at the mirror. The catch in each voice and their facial expressions really do me in. It is hard to claim their acting skills are so superb, when it feels so emotionally raw and true. But I kind of hope it is acting and they don't each hurt so much. Even on into that look of sadness on Layne's face as the beatbox really begins, then Geoff's almost detachment and Eli's call to be 'seen'. And that's all just the beginning.
You guys are right that the blowout section and 'light show' makes it feel like a live show. Lights are by Eli. As usual, he just excels in the lighting.

The mirrors were a genius idea to show the introspective mood this song creates. So often when we look at ourselves what we see is driven by our fears and insecurities. It's not always the real us, but I think we can all relate. Cesar's expressions are on point. You just want to cuddle him when he gets those puppy eyes.
This song literally brings tears to my eyes.
In his interview with Peter Barber (just dropped), Geoff said that Anthony took this on with 3 days notice. (Their original collaborator got sick.)

After "Halo," I thought they couldn't top themselves. Then came "7 Nation Army," - same thought. Yet they did it again. Every note is sheer perfection.
Great reaction. I always enjoy you two! I recommed taking a peek at VoicePlay's credits to see who does the work each time. Eli was the beast this time and almost always is in charge of lighting. These guys won the talent lotto. Almost unfair that they can all be SO GOOD at so many dofferent things and STILL be kind and humble. Also....Eli (and wife Ashley) have a baby on the way!!! So excited for them!!

I mean, yes, he does his job just to wonderful heights, honestly, but there are so many other components to the team and what they're putting out that just hearing this one aspect gets tiresome. This is a phenomenal cover! Voice Play (like Home Free) constantly up their game continually! Love seeing and hearing Anthony with them! I love his voice! Eli went for that note and nailed it!!
Eli did an amazing job on this project: arrangements, lighting, staging. (Eli does all of VP's lighting, green screens, computer gen, etc.) Geoff thought the reflecting mirror would be a good addition, so Cesar brought in his mirror, This was Eli's 2nd arrangement, the first was Eleanor Rigby. Geoff and Layne have been doing all these over the years but Eli will be in the rotation for this year. Cesar's project is VoicePlay's Loop, video where you watch the 4 guys determine what piece of music they will instantly arrange. The Loop 1 was Cesar's choice (low die) Choose Your Fighter (Barbie), Loop 2 Geoff's choice Return to Sender, Loop 3 - don't know yet, but the first 2 have been a blast. Have you put The Lion Sleeps Tonight from January? It started life as a mini - but Layne was having so much fun with the music and the guys that it became a full length in a mini format.
Thank you both for an awesome reaction. Geoff said in an interview that they are getting too old to travel on tour. Plus they can't do music videos & travel as well. They love to make music videos for their fans.... So many of us can't get to their concerts either money or by problems with transportation.... After all they are known as The Theater Kids of acapella.

In my opinion, any good a capella performance just seems to make a song better.....this is GOOD........

When you were asking "What's that?", it could not have been a synthesizer. Aside from the lead none if the notes was actually "in tune". Each note in rhe chords was tuned to make the chords resonate, so the guys were tuning to a 64th of a tone. The human ear can't really hear the note chamge, but the chord certainly does come to life when it is done properly.
