I’ve followed Andrew Huberman for some time now, definitely one of the very best for health information. I’ve done the early mornings getting outdoor light & avoiding caffeine for the first hour or so which helped but still left that slightly groggy feeling. I’ve now incorporated waking a little earlier but doing a 30 minute yoga nidra before getting up. Game changer! I’m 68 now and haven’t felt this clear headed and energetic in the morning for decades. One of the best tips I’ve ever picked up, thank you Andrew.

Great video! Adenosine is a fascinating molecule that affects our sleep-wake cycle. I learned that it builds up during wakefulness and is cleared during sleep. Caffeine blocks adenosine receptors, but timing is key to avoid energy crashes. Delaying caffeine, practicing NSDR, and bright light exposure can help manage adenosine levels. Understanding circadian rhythms and prioritizing sleep are essential for overall well-being. Thanks for sharing this informative video!

I noticed that sometimes I get that mid day crash around one or two p m, but i'm going through something because i'm a female.
I have perimmenopause! I've had it for good ten years, and i'm almost 50! I'm headed toward that menopause.I'm headed toward it..
And I know that's sometimes of my cycle. I have more energy and I am fine around two or three in the afternoon and I know my diet affects this. That's why i'm changing my diet back to what I was eating before six years ago. Paleo & keto.
And I recently decided to not drink so much coffee because I've noticed that when I drink one cup of coffee daily. Do tend to get tired in the afternoon, so I shifted to drinking herbal tea.
I do have tea here that has caffeine in it, but I don't drink it daily.
I'm waiting to see some consistent results in my afternoons. To see if the herbal tea will help me and not give me that midday crash at 2pm.
Because im.high energy and the people that know me know that i'm high energy, and when that midday crash comes at 1pm....it just passes me off really bad
I can't be productive. I can't get anything done I don't wanna do anything and I just need to lay down and take a nap and I don't like it.
This year has been hell on my career. Ann couldn't find a job after I was laid off from verizon march 2024.
I was unemployed 6 months till oct!
I can only imagine.I have what my boss would have said to me if I was so tired and not productive at one in the afterno

I go to bed at around 1 am and wake up totally fit at 5:30, no alarm needed. So what am I? A combination of night owl and early riser? I guess that must be it! I used to be fully restored with 1 hour of sleep in my 20s... now it is 4 hours, as I am 72! Lucky me! Also, I cannot sleep with the windows obscured. If there are black shutters on the windows, I cannot wake up, literally. If the natural night light can enter the room, that is when I only need very little sleep. I can also wake up within the precise minute at any time, with no alarms. All I need to do is determine at what time I want to wake up. Then I look at the clock to see at what time I will start to sleep, the rest works itself out precisely. At the wanted time, I am up and fully awake, and energized. I've always had this skill! I guess I am a lucky woman!

3:11 i normally don't need any alarm clock! I usually wake up on my own at 445am or 430am especially in the Spring & Summer.
This year - fall - is very very different ! I don't want to get out of bed until 6am or later.
Yes, the sun now does rise across that mountain at 6:40am so freaking LATE! I REALLY DON'T LIKE THE SUN GETTING UP THAT LATE.
im a big morning person. But this fall? I just don't want to get out of bed at 530am.
And I really need to, because that's where I can meditate in the dark!
And I was getting up out of bed at 5am in the summer- so I can meditate in the dark and then leave by 550am to drive 4 miles east to a field.....
To get away from the tree that was blocking my view of the sunrise st 615am this summer.
This summer was beautiful.I loved it because I was getting up 5am daily & leaving at 550am daily to watch the sunrise daily. That is a spiritual practice for me.
But it seems as though it's not a spiritual practice for me. In the fall, nor in the winter.
The sun gets up too late !
But i do usually get a cup of tea. First thing in the morning before I meditate, and yes, that is before the sun comes around that mountain, because i'm not waiting until 640am to drink my tea.

On days I wake up at 5am I end up sleeping until 2pm the next day. I feel like I need to go to sleep at 6pm to become a morning person. I keep trying and any info is great. I always go to the sun when I wake up. I’m in AZ so that’s easy but by 3pm I’m so exhausted my eyes are all red and my husband asks me if I smoked pot! No I never ever do any drugs. Well, maybe I need to go to sleep at 3pm to wake up at 5am. It’s a battle! Gotta feed the horses at 5am 3 days a week.

HELP! For the past year I can NOT sleep longer than around 6 hours?! I used to get a full 8 hours no problem but lately it's 6 hours no matter what time I go to sleep. Am I getting enough sleep? I get sleepy around 10/11 again, which is annoying because I need to work by then! I get sunrise into my windows every morning and typically go outside first thing to let the cat out and greet the morning with stretching. I stopped drinking coffee a few months ago for heart health reasons (I have arrhythmia) but have cacao and turmeric in the morning with coconut milk.

Coffee should NEVER be an ingredient in any routine, full stop. Yes, many people drink it, of course, but that does not make it a good thing. If you recommend coffee, then why not also suggest other "pick-me-uppers"?
Try to adjust your body to only have nourishing food, and water. Juices are also not a good idea. Much better to put the entire fruit into the blender and add a little clean water to make it more liquid. That way we get all the goodness of the entire fruit, the fibers and everything, not just the water from the fruit with its fructose.

Dude I cant listen to this, yadayadayada... Ive never drank coffee as a habit or better to say, addiction, because that's what it is for most people, including this "neuroscientist" obviously, and I never get "energy dips" during the day and I'm approaching 50. He's not very smart for a neuroscientist. Also don't eat or drink at least an hour before sleep, because your body will have to digest instead of resting to which the brain is sending signals as well, and that creates all havoc in your system, specially if you eat, and if you eat heavy. I've been vegan for 13 years and vegetarian for about 20 years before that, I tend to eat healthy, avoid processed foods, I never sleep in the afternoon. It's also about what you eat, how much you poison your system and how much energy the body has to use in order to extract anything useful from what you eat and to defend it self from the toxicity. I just go to sleep on time, priorities!!! Exercise, sunlight, meditation and relaxation methods are always welcome of course, because we accumulate enough stress as it is.... For me it's just hydration until cca 11 or noon, because I let the body rest from digestion, but taking caffeine is NOT natural for your body to feel awake. It's an addiction people, no addiction is ever good for you! I can drink coffee sometimes, with lots of plant based milk, because I like it, the instant version, but I won't have any effect from it or just slight, and I won't crave it either. Also caffeine dehydrates, so it's also bad in that sense, my preferred drink has always been water and not chemical infused "tap water" but real natural water. Filter it, get it from a spring or pump it from the ground if you live in a house, like we've done since forever... First it was the manual pump and then the electric.
