      Mlek00, Yes, I know it's another SSD upgrade as such a process is slightly different from a machine to another and i think it may come in handy for many people including myself. countless times i go search even for how to pair a certain device via bluetooth. so what seems obvious to you may not be for others. :)

    Hi Modi Adams, here i can seen the slot of m.2 instead of replacing sata Drive to sata SSD you supposed to add m.2 ssd, then you can use m.2 SSD for Operating system and Hard drive could be use for data storage..this is my personal suggestion, this option could be better for dual drive up-gradation.

    • @ModiAdams
      @ModiAdams  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Totally agree, i made the same upgrade for another person using m.2 NVMe SSD and kept the 1TB SATA3 Drive in there for some multimedia and so on. all and all, both are working perfectly fine and you wouldn't even notice a difference in speed at such an entry level CPU and machine. this upgrade though, the guy needed to be as efficient as possible, so he choose the 240GB SATA3 SSD rather than paying more for the NVMe one. It it were mine, i would definitely go for the NVMe. Yet, Thanks again for taking the time and effort to leave a positive comment. Have a good one :)

    • @ModiAdams

      Yes, It does have an extra PCIe Slot that does support NVMe drives, i installed both SATA3 HDD and an NVMe SSD on another Ideapad S145.

    • @ModiAdams

      Yes, Indeed the Lenovo Ideapad S145 supports both 2.5" SATA3 SSDs and PCI-e NVMe SSDs as well. you can install any of them or both of them.

    what's better, the SSD you installed or NVME?

    • @ModiAdams
      @ModiAdams  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Jason, good question, for such an entry level laptop that doesn't have a high-end CPU or GPU that does get toasty, you can easily install an NVMe SSD for the fastest possible performance. meanwhile, you wouldn't notice a massive difference, so people would usually install an NVMe for the OS and maybe a 2TB HDD on the 2.5" SATA3 slot. I did an upgrade for the same laptop with both NVMe and SATA3 SSDs, both are great and getting the job done.

    • @ModiAdams
      @ModiAdams  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Chester Alan, At this particular model you can either use a regular 2.5" SATA3 SSD 240 or 500GB or even 1TB or more depends on your needs or you can go for a much faster and more expensive PCI-e NVMe SSD as the machine does have an empty PCI-e slot.

    What size of M2 ssd the laptop supports?

    • @ModiAdams
      @ModiAdams  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It does support M.2 2280 SSDs that's for sure, and there is another place for a shorter one which i guess is 2260, but i would go for the 2280 which is the most common among all newest laptops.

    • @ModiAdams
      @ModiAdams  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It does have 1 slot and it comes with a 4GB of RAM, haven't checked if the RAM is soldered or not, but if not, then you can replace it with 8GB one, but no big need for that anyway in a laptop less than i3 and above.
