    That's what archery hunting for snowshoe hares is all about. Sometimes you win, and sometimes the bunny wins.

    I will vouch for Jay's (Wilderness Quest Outdoors) stone Knives, They're insanely sharp and surprisingly practical, not just decorative ornaments.
    His videos are cool too, particularly if you have an interest in learning the art of flint knapping.

    I'm thinking of that line from a Bugs Bunny cartoon..."Hare today, gone tomorrow" 😀

    Hunting with a bow is fair game. You can have some fun and forest critters got to live another day.

    I started traditional bow hunting about a year ago (though not quite as traditional as you). It's been a wild journey. Even though I haven't had a successful hunt yet, it's always a fun adventure getting out there in the forest, off the beaten path. I'd love to see more hunting content on your channel.
    Edit: As far as arrows getting caught in branches goes, I don't know if it's traditional enough for you guys, but you might want to consider a bow mounted quiver. Those back quivers you guys are wearing aren't really what people would traditionally hunt with. They're more of a movie trope.

      @OneWildcrafter  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree on the bow-mounted quiver. Or even some kind of horizontal belt quiver would probably work.

    You need some Siberian hunter ski's for more silent movement across the snow, if that's what you are looking for at least

    • @OneWildcrafter
      @OneWildcrafter  ปีที่แล้ว

      I prefer snowshoes, but those skis are cool.

    Great stuff and awesome outfit. Do you have any sources for me to check out info about the hunting bag etc? I am a bit of a nerd and love this kind of "old tech" stuff. :)

      A former student of mine obtained this one from an elder in his community in Northern Quebec. I did find a link for something similar: www.naturalexotics.ca/products/cree-canvas-pack-sack-g100

    hey jeremy. re hare behaviour- i used to wonder about this, perhaps some of your viewers also do: since a hare can run like hell, why don’t they just keep running? like run a kilometre and leave you behind? why do they stop as soon as they’re out of your sight? the problem for an animal like this is that so many predators eat them. hawks, owls, lynx, coyote, fox, wolves and most of the weasel family. a hare running thru the bush is at a serious disadvantage. it’s as likely to run INTO trouble as run AWAY from trouble. it’s senses are compromised because it’s on the run plus it’s attracting way more attention to itself because it’s running. so once out of sight, they have nothing to gain by continuing to run, and everything to lose. happy trails.

    • @OneWildcrafter
      @OneWildcrafter  ปีที่แล้ว

      Add to that their very small home range - more than a minute of running and they might be somewhere they've never been their entire life!

    • @flyinacircle6398
      @flyinacircle6398 ปีที่แล้ว

      grouse similar. even tho they can fly they won’t go far at all. just follow the direction they flew and a patient hunter will spot them again in a tree.

    Unless you are aboriginal, you cannot sell animal parts, in Canada.

    • @OneWildcrafter
      @OneWildcrafter  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In Ontario licensed trappers can possess and sell pelts, and under your small game license you can also harvest pelts of furbearers and sell them. I'm unsure about the rules around harvested antlers or antler sheds.

    I like traditional archery hunting more than any other method of hunting. I believe it just generates more respect for both nature and the hunted, and also the hunter.🐇🏹🔥🪶
