Not really. For that you have to go back a few more years and get yourself a Carrera GT. THAT is a car with priority on driving experience and sound! I hope for the owners that this Alfa will not break down so often! Like the older Alfas... Beautiful but unreliable!
@@insighteins1317 modern alfa's are reliable if maintained well. however the older alfa's could be rusty or unreliable. not a lot of people know that alfa had to build their cars in an other place then they where used to (coverment forced alfa) when on transport they wheren't covered well enough or wheren't coated. that's why alfa's used to rust quite fast..
They were insanely expensive, highly limited, and built on an existing Maserati platform. Who in their right mind would pay $230,000 before options in the 2000s? Some examples even exceeded $300,000 after speccing them. For that kind of money, you could have bought an Audi R8 ($110k), a W204 C63 AMG ($70k), and a Maserati GranTurismo ($120k)-all three for the same price. And objectively, each of them offered better performance and sound.
I'm an italian Alfa owner, but I'm also from Bologna, so I do love the part with Lambo and Ferrari.. this video explains why Henry Ford once said "when I see an Alfa Romeo, I take my hat off"
@@worldhello1234 It's the same family of V8s (Ferrari F136), but the ones for Maserati and Alfa (4.2 & 4.7) have a cross-plane crankshaft*, while the Ferraris (4.3 & 4.5) have a flat-plane crankshaft - hence the Maser/Alfa sound so differently. Their V8 rumbles, a Ferrari howls. *A crossplane V8 runs smoother but has a complicated, heavy crankshaft; A flatplane V8 has a lighter crank, revs higher and can generate more power in direct comparison, but it runs rougher - which is perfectly acceptable for a pure sports car. (Also most of the Ferraris have a dry sump lubrication system, another indication for a thoroughbred racing engine...)

This is my top 1 car on the list...absolutely can't belive how guys in Alfa Romeo nail it...this car isn't about numbers and race track...it is all about feeling good and enjoy while looking at it,listening to engine sound and driving.
The deep, throaty, hollow sound of this car is just out of this world. It modulates and changes its voice over the full range of revs. Like an orchestra with hundreds of musicians and instruments. Incredible!
My neighbor had one but it was the Coupe version. I still remember waking up by its sound, similar to the time when he still had his Carrera GT. He switched to classic cars now, most with V12 engines but in the meanwhile I moved to another place.
Using wide angle lenses for filming this video, alters and deforms the beautiful body lines of the car being reviewed. Changing a 28 for a 35 mm for example, would do the trick, without taking much of the "panoramic" shots, specially at close range. A very thorough and concise review I may add. Thank you.
You must revisit this car again, in some tunnels, i bet everyone would be happy to hear it again. It’s a car that happens to have a soul and heart instead of engine

when I was younger I used to completely prefer wild and loud engine sounds but now I prefer engine sounds that are not loud but very beautiful and unique like 911 or AMG SLS, or this
I think if a Noble M600 sat in that crowd of V8's, it would be the undisputed king of exhaust notes. This 8C though, is absolutely heavenly in that department and would be a close second.
Beautiful car. One point that's not perfect: The carbon fibre dashboard looks 'glued upon' the matt silver panel. This panel should have been designed in such a way to form a frame and eliminate the ugly corner at the left side.
There is really nothing that sounds like this. The 8C is so live, organic, and it changes the character with different revs, simply incredible. This car will only cost more and more, the initial Top Gear review did left the scar of being a very bad handling car, not sure what to think about it.
Great fun to drive this beast on the most boring roads in the world - welcome to the Netherlands - 100kph speed limit on almost all highways and as soon as you go 5kph too fast they kill you with gigantic fines
Beautiful car for sure. I actually prefer the look of the Spider than the coupe. The wheels suit it to the tee and makes it look classy as....I would'nt call it a Supercar ( too slow ) just Exotica.
this car is an undercover f430, which somehow makes it cooler then any maserati of the time with the same engine, no one would guess that beautiful engine was in this car unless they know alfa well

I was scratching my head as to why that steering shape looked so familiar. It has the same shape as new BMW M cars have.
