I'd add the 156, 159 and Brera. IMHO the MiTo and the Giulietta weren't bad, but the fact that they were the only cars in the lineup (together with the 4C) was very disappointing. Even now the Alfa lineup is nowhere near complete, as Alfa Romeo only sells the Tonale and the awesome but aging Giulia and Stelvio. They didn't replace the MiTo, the Giulietta, the 4C, the 8C Competizione and the 166, and they didn't even make a coupè or a station wagon version of the Giulia.
My favourite Alfa is the Giulia Quadrifoglio. It's the most beautiful sedan in the world and with such a beautiful name ever given to a car the Giulia is a complete masterpiece that Alfa is known for creating. The Giulia Quadrifoglio is really "La Bella Bestia".

Better than the 5series even, sadly the 166 GTA that could've competed with the E39 M5 never was released due to internal competition with the Quattroporte
My mom has a stelvio. when it was stock it was almost scary to drive. It was tuned by Squadra tuning. It now makes 320 bhp wich is crazy much. it gives you cold rillings when you launch it as fast as you can
Something is gonna break sooner or later…there is a reason Giulias and Stelvios have 2 coolant tanks (1 for turbo and 1 for radiator). The car overheats a lot…very poorly designed, there is a coolant pipe that connects from the top of the engine to the upper coolant tank that is made of plastic, that will break due to the heat and vibration of the engine. I highly advise if you want longevity and reliability of your moms Stelvio to remove the tuning chip or whatever you have. I am a apprentice at a Alfa workshop and I have seen turbo oil leak, coolant leak, fuel pump not working due to customers putting on ‘race chips’ on their cars and slowly 1 by 1 all are taking them off or selling the cars. Enjoy the car for what it is Alfa is a very special brand but not one to be experimenting on 😅 Cheers
@@kyledrysdale6553 nobody said they're perfect, and its not a race chip. it's a proper tune by a proper company 'squadra tuning' yes the car overheats but its not build to be used as a race car. you do a few pulls and then you cool it down again, every car has to be driven like that or else they catch fire. look at all the ferraris and meclarens and stuff like that. they can catch fire after 1 pull
My home country Singapore, has plans to have “100% clean energy vehicles” on our roads by 2040. If that means no ICE cars at all and when you consider how much we have to pay to buy cars, you bet my one and only car would be a Giulia Quadrifoglio. I first got into cars around the time she came out and had won praise from everyone who drove it, evening lauding it above M3 and C63. The looks are to die for and it tingles all your emotions every time you interact with it. Great video man, ditto 100% on the fact that consumers are behind the SUV craze, not the manufacturers. Car nerds give them so much grief, but they’re merely responding to demand. If it went the other way, you bet everyone would drive around in something low, sporty and fast.
You know you're American when you're comparing the 4C with a Corvette. Of course it has less power, that's literally the trademark for the USA, making powerful cars cheaper than European car makers do! The 4C has emotion!!!
Loved my 159 - 11 years of trouble-free motoring in a car that would turn heads for its beauty. Now I drive the Giulia Veloce - 90% of the performance of a QV for 50% of the price. Brilliant.
I had the Alfa GTV V6 3.0 which was pretty good even though it was fwd and the Alfa Giulietta QV again very good also. But nothing spectacular compared to earlier Alfas. They were more Fiats with an Alfa badge. I rented a 4C and that was a car that Alfa should be proud of was very light weight and fast but very quirky and can’t compete with Boxsters in terms of practicality which it seems is what people want also
Don't start me on the Spider. My parents gen 2 one (Coda Tronca, 1978 model) is responsible for having contaminated me with the uncurable Alfa Virus. 😊
My favourites alfas are the RZ, GTV from 00s and 90s (the one icnluded in the honourable mentions) 4c, MiTo and Gulia... How can you go wrong with this pieces of art (and how can you go wrong with that beautiful MiTo hatchback or that sporty GTV with that noce V6 engine and that weird but pretty design? Cant really its worth the pricetag of 3.5k € (yes i found one for that cheap and its all good))
I love my Guilia Ti with the 2.0, the fact that the platform was built for the QV first then dumbed down was a better move than suping up in the reverse. You get all the chassis, and handling, weight reduction and distribution plusses with a fairly potent 4cyl turbo.
What I can say that Lancia and Alfa Romeo cannot be compared to any other car brand. It's true, we sat back and overlooked the details, the solidity and durability of a car during the oil crisis of the 1970s and in the years that followed. Reasons of sustainability, unemployment and continuous economic crises have led to a negative change of pace for these two historic brands. But we Italians, it's true that we sit down, but it's equally true that we get up (as is happening now), and when we do it, there's nothing for anyone, absolutely no one! And it's not even a question of money, it's a brain fact that either you have it, or you can't buy it.
I loved the designer of the 8c when he was interviewed. He basically said he just wanted to build a modern Ferrari Daytona, and well mission accomplished.
Honestly every single car Alfa Romeo made before being bought by fiat (up to the 75) is amazing. All of their rear wheel drive models where known for being exceptional in the corners and very hard to oversteer thanks to their 50-50 weight distribution, and the 33 was THE front wheel drive sports car at the time
@@timhancock6626 was it? I’ve no experience with old Alfas so I honestly don’t know, but the “alfas are so unreliable” to me sounds like an urban legend more then anything else.
yes it is an urban legend. In my family we got Italian cars in general for a pretty long time, not only Alfa... And well I think as long as you do the maintenance as it is told in the manual, nothing should go wrong. Always heard people bashing and questioning about the reliability, then saw them having trouble in their fancy german or (even worse) french counterparts while being absolutely fine
@@takao4491 though so… Alfas are so rare outside of Italy and yet people who have not even seen one in their life insist that they are unreliable. Same goes for fiat. I drove many new pandas and new Toyota Yaris and I can say the build quality on the fiats was way better
Rust protection on American models. improved around 1978. The very early GTV6 (1981) had a rust trap at the top of the front wheel wells, but they soon fixed it.

My love for 4C has never gone away. The small form factor of Elise, Tesla roadster, etc in a beauty and gorgeous body, damn, that thing is sleek.
You left out the 164S, a car I owned for nearly 10 years and I still regret selling. Great comfortable car with great looks from every angle and that wonderful V6 that loved to rev to and beyond redline with no issues and that typical Alfa sound! Superb short throws gear box, what not to like? Fortunately the "selling bug" never effected my '88 Spider, a wonderful little car, as I affectionately call, that turned out to be the most reliable vehicle I ever owned. I have no concerns about taking it for long trips and it's a blast to drive. The Giulia and Stelvio? The front is Alfa, no questions, but the rest have generic looks like a lot of vehicles on the road these days whereas in the past an Alfa was unmistakably ALFA no matter from which angle looked at.
Let's not forget about the most beautiful starter car in any NFS game ever: The Alfa Brera. This car is so beautiful that you're best off leaving the car's looks at stock, saving you lots of money for the later game. And in real life, its only weakness is the timing belt, which needs a replacement every 70 000 kilometers. Apart from that, it's an all around scrumptious car to have. I'd love to own one.
Unfortunately it has a Holden V6 in it (from GM Australia), why they didn't drop a lightly turboed Busso in it is incomprehensible. The Giulia Quadrifoglio is spectacular and should be on the list
Call me crazy but to me the 4C is actually a bit more beautiful than the 8C. Seen one in my city and it's just so fantastic and even cleaner. One of my dream cars for sure.
Been a huge Alfa fan since the "Graduate" days. So many bad cars but some moments of genius too. But what I really wanted to say is thanks for making a car video that only isn't boring but is actually laugh out loud funny (while still being perceptive about cars). No small feat! Sincerely, Very Much Impressed in the southwest of France
I still believe the Giulietta is a good looking car in her segment, especially the back and the characteristic night lighting which make it immediately distinguishable.
In fact most Alfa models were good to drive and had nice performance. Some had minor technical issues but then so do most cars. The only real problem with Alfa is that they have a bad reputation but that's not been based in reality after the '70s.
Imo the 156 gta deserved to be on this list too. The uncle of the giulia containing the legendary busso but still maintaining 4 doors that made a crazy family car (especially in the 2000s) with 250 ponies powering the front wheels thru a manual or a semi-automatic gearbox.
I have an Alfa Romeo 156 2.5 v6 The sound is just something else, you cant compare it to anything else in that price range. The engine isnt the most powerfull thing in the world, but its very smooth and joy to drive.
Small correction: The V6 Busso is called "Arese’s violin”: Arese is the name of the city where Alfa Romeo's largest production plant was located (Active from 1963 to 2005).
I remember when my father bought me and my brother an Alfa when we were young just to keep us away from trouble and back in the garage fixing our cars after each ride.
Great video! Alfa is growing in reliability and has started producing great cars, better form what we can get these days (too many boring cars)! The QV (Giulia and Stelvio) are just pure driving experience and daily user with no sweat.
Had a 1980 2.0 Alfetta sedan for 6 years here in Australia. Only time it let me down was when a spark plug failed the DAY AFTER it had been changed in a service. The thermostat in its aftermarket AirCon failed as well. Not an Alfa part though. Other than that it was 6 years of very happy and enjoyable motoring. Bought it for $11,000 second hand in 1992. Sold it for $10,000 in 1998. I probably spent $3000 on it having it resprayed after a minor accident to hot rod perfection and had fitted Koni adjustable shockers and nice alloys. One of the cheapest cars I have every owned.

Exactly. I will never forget the shape of the dashboard (still a sexy design today - try saying the same of a contemporary BMW) and the super sporty front and rear seats, they don't make them like these anymore.
I ended up almost buying a GT, same 147 platform but longer wheelbase and bertone looks. God I loved the interior, 4 real adult seats, large trunk, interesting engines, test drove a few, but had to move to another country. I still think it looks like the most beautiful daily coupe ever built (thanks Bertone).
I have an '05 GT Busso, second owner with 22000km on the odometer down here in NZ. It's like new finished in Grigio Stromboli with red leather. It's beautiful.
0:20 Throwing shade at the Giulietta is criminal, it's one of the best handling FWD hatches in existance
As an italian i can confirm that the Giulia is called "quattro formaggi"

Quale Giulia?
159: am I a joke to you?
Yes
no busso, no point
I didn't realize there were only 500 8C's, and knowing that now makes the one I got to see on Sunday morning at a Starbuck's in Boise that much more special! That guy had a great collection of exotics that he would alternate for his Sunday coffee sit-down.
Come on man, at least write the car's name right.
@@rohan_3128 it's written right

I have to go with the 159 Q4 Sportwagon. One of the most beautiful modern designs imo. Too bad they took out the Busso, but I guess it couldn't be perfect
I agree. Good car
And the Brera ? The Brera is so unloved it hurts
@@harryhazza626 well, it's the coupé version of the 159, so it goes in the same bag. Alfa missed the chance to do something crazy and radical with the Brera, it was a good platform, and I reckon that's the reason why it's unloved as you say
@@martinds38 I'm not saying it's one of the greatest Alfas but I've owned one for 8 months now and all I see online about the Brera is people acting like it's a Lada , like something that needs to be ignored and shunned. It's a compétant , relatively reliable, knee achingly gorgeous 2 doors cruiser.
@@martinds38the Busso didn’t make it in the 159/Brera due to emissions standards. Yet all the press still blabbed about the 3.2V6 when in fact the 1750TBi is widely regarded as the best engine for that platform. So good in fact it got carried out in the Giulietta QV
The first car I got a car for myself, it was an Alfa. I knew it would cause problems and cost money, but it still makes me smile looking back at it in the carpark.
My favourites that weren't mentioned here are the Alfa Romeo 159 Q4 Sportwagon and the 75 Milano
The facelift 166 was a gorgeous looking car. A real alternative to your Mercs and 5 series.
Well when you buy a 166 what you care the most is not the exterior (even if i personally prefer the pre-facelift) but for the interior. Probably the best looking interior ever seen in a car... And it handles surprisingly well for a saloon... Better than the 5series even, sadly the 166 GTA that could've competed with the E39 M5 never was released due to internal competition with the Quattroporte
You forgot about Alfetta, 75 and 156 models. Delicious and very awesome cars!
Yeah, for me the 156 (first gen) is simply the most beautiful sedan ever made. And as for the 75... I have one in my garage. Nuff said. 😘
My mom has a stelvio. when it was stock it was almost scary to drive. It was tuned by Squadra tuning. It now makes 320 bhp wich is crazy much. it gives you cold rillings when you launch it as fast as you can
Stelvio QV or regular?
@@kevinlee8202QV is 510 HP
That's 2.0GME
My favorites are 159,spider duetto,4C, and Brera Q4
Thank you for mentioning the Brera😁
Brera looks amazing but is soo damn slow for the amount of power it has
@@TopCarsTV still a quick car , nice noise too. Going from a Peugeot 306 to a Brera , not many things to complain about really.

As an owner of a 155Q4 it’s nice to see that it’s mentioned in the video.😎👌🏻
Loved my 159 - 11 years of trouble-free motoring in a car that would turn heads for its beauty. Now I drive the Giulia Veloce - 90% of the performance of a QV for 50% of the price. Brilliant.
I have had almost every model from the last 30 years and not a single one disappointed me
I had the Alfa GTV V6 3.0 which was pretty good even though it was fwd and the Alfa Giulietta QV again very good also. But nothing spectacular compared to earlier Alfas. They were more Fiats with an Alfa badge.
I rented a 4C and that was a car that Alfa should be proud of was very light weight and fast but very quirky and can’t compete with Boxsters in terms of practicality which it seems is what people want also
Enjoyable humor with a wonderful education on the Alfa! Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Perfect timing, Alfa is back in FH5!
Dude, I own an a gen 3 Alfa Spider. You nailed every description of it. I love my Spider so much. I even have the hardtop!
Don't start me on the Spider. My parents gen 2 one (Coda Tronca, 1978 model) is responsible for having contaminated me with the uncurable Alfa Virus. 😊
I still love the 155's sad face. 😁
I recently found what my favorite Alfa Romeo is:
1969 33 Stradale with 1 headlight within the housing.
I had an Alfa Sud back in the 80s, only a 1200 but it went like a rocket! I agree Alfa's are underrated.
V6 is better
The 147 GTA with the v6 is really fun to drive is like a go kart. And then the sound😍
The Guilia Quadrifoglio is my reminder on why I love cars so much.
I had a 146. That doesn't suck, because never broke down. Owned 5 years
What I can say that Lancia and Alfa Romeo cannot be compared to any other car brand.
Great video. Edits were funny and not crazy over the top. A really nice balance of education and entertainment. Seriously amazing content guys!
Thanks man 👍
@@TopCarsTVjdm cars that should not have died plz
The giulia qv is probably one of my favorite cars of all time, it's just so good.
I used to own a GT 2.0 jts.
Still miss it 😢
I loved the designer of the 8c when he was interviewed. He basically said he just wanted to build a modern Ferrari Daytona, and well mission accomplished.
Honestly every single car Alfa Romeo made before being bought by fiat (up to the 75) is amazing. All of their rear wheel drive models where known for being exceptional in the corners and very hard to oversteer thanks to their 50-50 weight distribution, and the 33 was THE front wheel drive sports car at the time
But build quality was indifferent and rusting terrible until the 75 when both improved a lot.
The front is Alfa, no questions, but the rest have generic looks like a lot of vehicles on the road these days whereas in the past an Alfa was unmistakably ALFA no matter from which angle looked at.
not "Busso's Violin", but "Arese's Violin" as this engine was produced in Arese, a small town next to Milan where the og factory is
Let's not forget about the most beautiful starter car in any NFS game ever: The Alfa Brera.
OK, but have you seen the 8C? I have once and it literally gave me the chills
I had 159 1.9 jtdm yes a diesel but damn it was fast not for a diesel just fast and handled very well. I will buy again for sure.
1.9 is a pretty bulletproof engine no matter the power variant but powerhouse wise the 2.4 L5 is a masterpiece
@@takao4491 yes and they rev like gas engine
Been a huge Alfa fan since the "Graduate" days. So many bad cars but some moments of genius too. But what I really wanted to say is thanks for making a car video that only isn't boring but is actually laugh out loud funny (while still being perceptive about cars). No small feat! Sincerely, Very Much Impressed in the southwest of France
I remember in Germany you had to aply for the 8c and show a resume as a proof that you was a real Alfa fanboy
The Stelvio is amazing, it doesn’t matter that it’s an SUV, it’s like a sedan
Well, it uses a Giulia (sedan) platform
I still believe the Giulietta is a good looking car in her segment, especially the back and the characteristic night lighting which make it immediately distinguishable.
Also have to include the Giulietta and Tonale. Good cars!

2) GTV6.
3) (Montréal?)
Anyway, the 75 was a great car too. And the 159 is probably the most beautiful sedan ever.
Recently bought a brera and havin much fun with it. Love to see an alfa vid of you again
My father was an Alfista and, for my opinion, you miss some important models as Alfa GTV 2.5 V6 and Giulietta 2.0 Turbo Delta
As an italian thank you
I've never seen TopCars change a video's thumbnail 4 times, now i've seen it for the first time.
I have an Alfa Romeo 156 2.5 v6
The sound is just something else, you cant compare it to anything else in that price range.
The engine isnt the most powerfull thing in the world, but its very smooth and joy to drive.
There is also extremely rare TZ3 Stradale, which is basically an Italian Dodge Viper
Small correction:
The V6 Busso is called "Arese’s violin”: Arese is the name of the city where Alfa Romeo's largest production plant was located (Active from 1963 to 2005).
I remember when my father bought me and my brother an Alfa when we were young just to keep us away from trouble and back in the garage fixing our cars after each ride.
@9:57 Yeah, but the 8C has the same powerplant as the Ferrari F433, so that is not an excuse for calling it a Ferrari with an Alfa badge.
Great video! Alfa is growing in reliability and has started producing great cars, better form what we can get these days (too many boring cars)! The QV (Giulia and Stelvio) are just pure driving experience and daily user with no sweat.
I love my Milano '75' ! Ugly but fun to drive in its 80s glory!

Exactly. I was a big fan of the English show The 3 Musketeers... until they started talking badly about Alfa Romeos and especially Lancias. machines that have never had problems and they stuck to the gauges which were sometimes faulty. but these are commercial parts and not produced by motor manufacturers (in truth, most were German...). there must be a reason why you don't see English cars around except very recent ones in most of Europe and if Italy is the homeland of engines and manufacturers (not that designers...) copied by the world. Thank you for giving credit to the great destroyer's so much inventiveness
the 159 could have made it to this list as being one of the best designs ever, sadly fiat feat gm kinda pooped on it. Imagine it was a pure alfa romeo underneath.
I owned a 2011 159ti with the V6 GM engine. It zipped fuel like crazy, and considering it was a 256hp AWD V6 engine car, it wasn’t as fast as you would expect (0-60 in 7 sec)… and yet, oh, how it drove and sounded.
I also think it should’ve been on the list for the looks alone. Some people took pictures of it in parking lots…
