I’m even happier with my 2023 Forester, and I didn’t think that was possible til I saw this.
Looks like Subaru had consultants from Kia and Ford on their redesign team. The Forester deserves better.

I have the touchscreen in my Outback. Yes, it's occasionally laggy... But 99% of the time, it works great. Just hit auto and let it do it's thing... Occasionally hit the defrost button or change the temp... via the physical buttons. I think I've used the on screen climate functions 3 times in almost 20k miles? Not an issue.

Ah Subaru... I don't understand why you're not listening to your current long-time loyal customers. That giant touch screen in my 23 Outback Wilderness is my biggest gripe about the vehicle. Having it as an option I could understand, but having it as the only option is not ideal. You should of kept physical HVAC and other vehicle controls and the Infotainment separate. It really sucks trying to keep your eyes on the road and peck away at a screen for all vehicle functions. I'll definitely hesitate to purchase another Subaru if you keep going down this path.

      3. I really liked the trim at the bottom of the car, its a pretty good design!

They actually didn't remove physical buttons, they just moved them. Majority of buttons located on steering wheel, a few on the driver's door and some near the tablet, some are also near gear stick. ALL PHYSICAL BUTTONS ARE PRESENT!
You are not supposed to use tablet while driving! While driving you can only use it for:

For ppl who afraid there could be problems as it's a new generation. They are NOT using new technology, so the chance of getting a problem is low. They've used this technology for years in subaru outback and now in crosstreck 2024.

For what it's worth, we have the current Subaru Forester with the standard 2.5L boxer. We live in the Rockies and it pulls the mountain really well and is peppy from the start. I test drove the Outback with a 2.4 turbo and was frankly underwhelmed by it. 2.5L was smoother and quicker. All in my not scientific, humble opinion of course.

Spoiled with a WRX early on. The Outback Wilderness XT with the 2.4 definitely had a smooth and strong pull. Not great, but it may have to do with the heavier weight compared to a Forester. No performance increase from the current gutless Forester, bland styling that looks like a Ford and people dont want to control everything through a giant screen. The tablet is great for carplay and navigating without any stupid phone holders, sure not having physical buttons for vents or seats isn't pleasing but still it's great! Forester isn't meant for having high power, it's in cars name that it's for people who loves versatility of offroad and city, get impreza if you want the power, Subaru gives you the choice between the models. People complaining about the spirit of Subaru and such, yes it's true they lost it as all other car makers in a way since 2008 because most of them went for cheaper manufacturing cost and it confirmed in expense of the owner because you pay more for car maintenance but give me a car maker that is as reliable and as safe within such price range, you won't find it.

Most of them will tell BS stories about cars they never owned, ask whether problems have been resolved that were resolved ten years ago, or just spew childish BS about cars they have no experience with, and never had any intention (or money) to buy. “not meant for high power”? you know there was a Forester STI before? do you know Subaru was once proud to make the Forester in a way that WRX & STI parts could be sourced for use in the Forester? you know many people LOVE the turbocharged XT models. it’s not cost effective, but for me, i loved driving the XT for road trips. i felt safer sitting so high up in a car on the highways. it gave me peace of mind that i could bolt faster than most cars whenever i needed it! i’m not a speed demon, but driving a turbo forester is likely the closest i’ve come to holding a handgun-their power makes people feel safe. weird analogy, i know😅. i’ve never touched a gun, which is why i want modern Foresters to provide me with the power & safety the classic models offer.

The new color just grew on me, I think it's practical. Since it's not dark, fingerprints and scratch marks won't be visible. Because it's somewhat of a khaki color, dirt and stains would just blend in as well. I think I'll get this new Forester next year to replace my 2019 model.

I have many different opinions. Here’s a short version for whoever cares to read. As a brand ambassador I think it’s great. It’s got the famous AWD, safety features, comfort features and some fancy buttons. As an enthusiast it’s a bit bland (not terrible though!). I think it’s a little bland because I don’t see changes to the powertrain (I stand to be corrected) and no manual option. Also by 2025 some of the features will just be run of the mill. Like the 2024 Crosstrek has the upgraded eyesight along with the Outback sooo why wait with the Forester? I get Subaru's cars are updated every five years so it’s not time for the Forester upgrade yet, however Subaru should just offer it now which would even the playing field per se.
As a side note: if you like the dual screens I’d get one now before it’s all 11.6 inch ones!! At the end of the day I’m not sure how I feel! Perhaps it’s just that I love my Subie how it is now and change seems hard (not necessarily bad). Time will tell, maybe the OG Subie Squad is just getting ran out of business 😢.
UPDATE: I just saw another video taking a deep dive into the vehicle. Apparently it's still the 2.5 liter naturally aspirated flat four. We went down to 180 hp.

Simplifying it would mean that issues would be more mechanical and then DIY fixes could be done easier (if that's what someone chooses to do, it's more budget friendly). As an enthusiast I think the focus should have been on the power terrain, entry and exit angles for offroading, adding a stock hitch, reinforced roof racks, better recovery points and making a manual option!!

    • @hypotenuse314
      @hypotenuse314 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

@@smellybearc7411 I would say that you are correct with your statement. As far as my knowledge goes (I am no employee of Subaru so I'm limited to my personal research) this is essentially the same Forester as before with the 11 inch screen. The screen capabilities seem to be the same as the other Subarus that have the upgrade. Likewise, the Eyesight system is the newest version of the Eyesight we're seeing in Outbacks, Crosstreks, etc. The video mentioned the foot activated opening gate (the Outback has a similar feature). I will not keep listing things but yeah a lot of stuff is the same.
I have heard many people say quite confidently that there will be an E-boxer (hybrid) coming in 2026 along with a Wilderness edition. This is also not new since, in select countries like Australia, had an E-Boxer Forester that was never offered in the USA. Of course we presently have the Forester Wilderness no huge surprise either.
This is borderline cosmetic but the entry/exit angles might have been slightly upgraded too, I dunno. Going along with the borderline cosmetic thing, Cargo capacity could have changed. I feel like I caught a glimpse of info about the cargo capacity but really do not recall so please don't quote me there. Are you looking into getting a Forester etc? What's your thoughts?

I assume they will increase the price a bit too. The only I like about the new model is the availability of hybird battery for additional power. Like most Subaru enthusiasts, these mid size do need an upgrade in power so they can climb up the mountain for family apple picking trip of the occasional off road adventures.
