In this Velux Window Blind Installation Guide video I will show you How to fit a Velux Window Blind, this particular one is a Velux Blackout Blind for a Bathroom in a loft conversion. It is very effective and totally blocks out all light.
The supplied Velux Blind installation guide leaflet is rather vague so hopefully this will help you fit your Velux Window Blind easily. There are different Velux Blind installation types, hopefully this is the one you need.
I will show you how to find your Velux Window Code for sizing so that you order the correct Velux Blind. Then I will take you through every step to install a Velux Blind, so that it is easy to follow.

Thank you for your guide!!! We had the opposite problem. How to deinstall it. Ill do the exact opposite what you are doing and it worked! Now we csn repair our shade with spare parts from Velux.

I would also add, use a cheap and cheerful bradawl to mark the holes and use the correct screwdriver bit for the screws. It appeared the bit used in the video was incorrect and started to round off the screw. It appeared to be a bit bigger than required. If using a drill I wouldn't go quite as deep either 5mm or so should suffice.
Drilling a pilot hole is key to making this job painless 👍
Yeh I nearly always do a pilot hole when screwing into any wood, saves it splitting and makes it easier. Glad my video helped 😎
Also helps to not destroy the head of the screws from too much force, your video was a great help to me to confirm what I was doing was correct, thanks 👍

Yes should be fine, may need a small pilot hole to start it off, just make an indentation with a screw or nail.

I have a really small Gap at the bottom. Like I cant close it completely (by 2mm).
Because of that the theres coming a little bit of light through,

I think it’s common as I’ve got 2 blinds and there is a small gap at the bottom. You could screw some rubber into the bottom or a thin piece of wood so there was no gap
is it possible to remove the pre installed brackets?
I’m not sure I’m afraid. Looks like they might be glued in. Maybe contact Velux and ask them
Do you know how to remove the DKL M08S 39BK09KA model please, I've removed the side panels but can't remove the top unit.
