I just made these this morning and WOW! These were absolutely amazing! My son, who only likes Starbucks scones, told me these are WAY better (after he ate two it them 😂). I did use heaping 1 cup frozen blueberries, subbed buttermilk in place of heavy cream (same amount), and heaping 1/3 cup sugar (because of buttermilk). I placed them in freezer to set prior to baking like suggested (this step is especially important). My new go-to breakfast scones!!

I just made these. I love the texture. the 400 degree temp almost burned my scones. So i'm going to try 375 on my next batch to see if i makes a difference.

I never put the butter BACK into the freezer after dicing it up and I sometimes end up with that "paste”. Such an easy way to fix this problem - I'm embarrassed not to have thought about it in the first place! Thanks Beth!

You should make an addition of baking soda, if you substitute buttermilk for heavy cream in a recipe.

Yes, absolutely! Frozen berries are great too. No need to defrost first, gently work them in frozen :)
