If anyone would like an update video of the Phoenix automotive one, I will make one. I still have the Phoenix and will go back to it because I prefer the larger screen and ease of use switching between the sources. It does have its own faults though too that I could explain in the video.
Hi there, thank you for the video! I have a 2017 colorado and my OEM radio works but has a blank screen. I'm wondering if the usb cable for the oem hmi is bad. Does that usb plug into this system? I have the exact same, just curious if I need it for the backup cam, etc...thanks!
Did you keep this one or go back to Phoenix? Have you ever tried the Junsun screen from Amazon? What are the other faults you mentioned on Phoenix? Great video
I went back to Phoenix, I'm used to it and it's a bigger screen. It has a few hiccups though that i can love with. Some of the other faults i mentioned earlier somewhere in the comments. I haven't tried the other one you mentioned from Amazon. If they want to send me a radio to do an install or review, I'd be happy to.
I didn't do that in the settings, it seemed to work automatically, but wasn't fully sync'd well with the head unit, like the head unit had a volume control separately that would adjust the volume. Nonetheless, the steering wheel settings weren't working properly with the radio, they were working but as you can see in the video, it wasn't seamless or doing what they were actually supposed to do. Sorry I couldn't help you further.
@@58Alpha mine is a different brand but basically the same wiring. Everything worked (wireless android auto is a pain to get working) except I guess you have to use their supplied camera. I gave up due to those two issues and am sending it back.
Yeah, sometimes I hate all the incompatibilities. The best one so far that I have that works is from Phoenix Automotive. That was the easiest and cleanest install and worked easier out of the box. @@geinus2344 that's interesting then. I tried both of the steering wheel wires and both worked for me. So you might want to double check if any other connectors are not plugged in it something.

The HMI I assume is the original interface? I believe this would replace that easily. If you're talking Phonix (my other video), then I also believe it should work. But I would not know because I don't have that issue and there was nothing I read that mentioned faulty HMIs (Human Machine Interface).
I assume you have everything connected properly and the antennas of the OEM dash have not been unplugged. Have you tried pushing the source button on your steering wheel to change a source to see if any sound comes out? Did you try the steering wheel volume controls and/or the touch screen volume buttons on the radio?
If anyone is installing a radio like the one in the video with the Bose sound system let me know I just installed one in my 2018 Colorado and there was some annoying things you have to do in order for it to work, CarPlay, steering wheel controls, and the radio all work properly.
@@58Alpha My responses keep getting deleted for whatever reason, but the main issue is that the harness you need to use for the io5/6 head unit doesn't have the connector for power. I cut off the green connector from the harness you used in the video that made it power on and spliced it into the io5/io6 harness they provide. You also will need the antenna cable, usb cable, and a separate cable for the backup camera. If you have issues with audio just switch your connection to aux via the steering wheel controls, and also make sure you connect the white and red audio cables to the right outputs on your headunit. On my channel I made a small video with an imgur link you have to put together with some pictures

No the USB I don't believe fits in this unit. I would recommend the Phoenix automotive radio , I have a video of that too on my channel

I'm not sure. Did you try both wires for the steering wheel controls? Is your harness connected properly above your steering column?
@@58Alpha I only tried the Silverado plugin but I guess I can try the other one,everything's secure and connected on the steering wheel column

Would the Phoenix work even with a faulty OEM HMI? Or do I have to replace the HMI before I can install the Phoenix?
